The Dark Knight Strikes Again (Softcover)

The Dark Knight Strikes Again (Hardcover)

Plotted out and drawn by popular comic-book writer/artist Frank Miller (All-Star Batman and Robin, The Dark Knight III – The Master Race), The Dark Knight Strikes Again is a three part limited series sequel to "The Dark Knight Returns" limited series by the same creator. This successful story was published by DC Comics in 2001 after fifteen years of its predecessor. Although its previous installment was able to gain more publicity and critical acclaim, The Dark Knight Strikes Again mostly failed in that portion compared to its previous installment. Plus, the absence of co-illustrator Klaus Janson is greatly felt when Miller's art came out as plain garbage for everyone's taste.

Although, The Dark Knight Returns managed to be considered for adapted into a two-part animation movie of the same name, this sequel probably wasn't considered worthy enough by DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Like all of Batman stories conceived by Miller, the arc is set into Earth-31, an alternate reality of Multiverse, which is considered as non- canonical with DC's pre-Flashpoint publication. He came up with a second sequel, The Dark Knight III – The Master Race almost thirty years after the culmination of the original series with artist Andy Kubert (Batman – Batman and Son, Damian – Son of Batman).

The Dark Knight Returns (Softcover)

The Dark Knight Returns (Hardcover)

"The Dark Knight Returns" is a four issue mini-series published monthly by DC Comics in 1986. It was written and drawn by legendary comic-book creator Frank Miller (All-Star Batman and Robin, The Dark Knight III – The Master Race) and Klaus Janson. A direct sequel to this epic mini-series, "The Dark Knight Strikes Again" from same creator was later also published later in 2001. Nearly three decades after, Miller decided to complete his Dark Knight Trilogy by writing the third arc and completed Dark Knight III: The Master Race with artist Andy Kubert (Damian – Son of Batman, Flashpoint). He was also responsible for creating the definitive "Batman – Year One" story, which was critically praised.

The series also worked as a part of inspiration for director Christopher Nolan's 2012 release The Dark Knight Rises, a finale to his Batman trilogy starring actor Christian Bale. The story was later adapted for a two part animation movie titled Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2012) from DC Universe Animated Original Movies line. The Dark Knight Returns heavily influenced director Zack Snyder to cast actor Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill respectively for portraying a near-similar brawl scene of World's Finest in his 2016's live-action superhero movie "Batman v Superman – Dawn of Justice" from DC Extended Universe, which also features cameo appearance from Aquaman and a special appearance of Wonder Woman.

Spawn/Batman

Following the success of their popular superhero character Batman and Spawn, DC Comics and Image Comics jointly published this one-shot inter-company crossover in 1994. Writer Frank Miller (The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again) and Spawn's creator Todd McFarlance were assigned to create the plot where this two fan favorite superhero will meet each other and will create history and it surely is going to leave a mark. However, despite being a spectacular one-shot crossover, this storyline does not take place in the regular continuity of the respected characters own monthly ongoing series and does not effect any of their current plot.
