Cable – The Newer Mutants | Comics

Time-traveling mutant Cable recruits newer mutants to go look for a mutant killer after the death of an External.

Whenever there is a major disturbance in the timestream, Cable takes it upon himself to restore it back and currently, he has recruited Longshot to investigate a corpse in a forensic center of New Orleans. He initially picked up an anomaly but by the time he got here, the trail goes cold and the person he was chasing ended up being dead.

The person lying in front of them is named Candra who officially doesn't exist and was one of the Externals, a group of eternal mutants. Although she was supposed to be immortal, her killer has taken her life by ripping her heart out. When asked to see into her memories, Longshot saw her putting up a fight before dying but failed to see the attacker.

With the demise of Candra and rest of her kind perished previously, only Selene remains as the last of Externals and Cable believes that she already knows about the incident because of the telepathic link they all share. Given her history of killing the rest of her peers in past, Nathan chose to find his answer from the corpse instead of going to her.

Seeing that idea didn't work out, he decides to face her at Hellfire Club after recruiting Doop and Shatterstar. They sneak in past the security only to be ambushed by Selene herself, who was expecting their arrival. Following a brief skirmish it became apparent that she didn't was not responsible for the murder they were investigating earlier.

Turns out they all are after the same assailant and when Nate mentioned of her being the last External, she revealed formerly deceased Absalom, Crule and Nicodemus of her race standing behind them. Though there was a heated exchange between the two groups, Black Priestess tells her allies to stand down and the team of X-Men to leave.

When Shatterstar asks Nathan for his reason to walk out, he states that if the eternal mutants have been working for the woman who killed them a decade ago, clearly they are all afraid of the mysterious assassin who is hunting them down. The only three who did not join their cause are Burke, Saul and Gideon, persons he would like to meet next.

Since Gideon is off the grid at this time, he plans to go after the rest in two groups and considering how they were dominated by the mutant witch, Armor and X-23 are taken in for help. Meanwhile, Selene and her group sail to the middle of Atlantic to retrieve a secret weapon of hers from a portal now that they all are in grave danger.

With Doop and Hisako, Cable goes to see Burke, a precog and wants to die after having been around for centuries. Therefore, he wishes not to help them finding the killer. In the mean time, Shatterstar travels to Mongolia with Laura and Longshot only to discover Black Priestess and her allies beside the lying corpse of Garbha-Hsien AKA Saul.

Nathan quickly rushed to Mongolia on a Blackbird alongside his fellow mutants to regroup with the rest of his team. They catch up and Nate learns of the secret weapon Selene brought to her side, a mutant teleporter and original Generation X member named Blink. They head to make one more stop at Black Canyon of Colorado, looking for Gideon.

The team is greeted by an A.I. assistant who takes them all inside where they can see a near skeletal form of Gideon lying in stasis. Although the robot claimed that he has been lying around like this for the last decades after Selene tried to kill him, the entire complex goes to a total lockdown when the team of X-Men tries to investigate further.

Venom – Circle of Four | Comics

Jack O'Lantern showed up at Flash Thompson's father's funeral on behalf of his boss Crime-Master with a deal that involves retrieving a package for him or see his family suffer. Given the situation, Flash had no other choice but to comply to keep his loved ones safe. This led him to steal the symbiote for himself when Captain America comes in to shut down "Project Rebirth" the next day and then he flees the facility. Cap gives Flash a chase into the forest and these two fights for control as the former unsuccessfully tries to convince to give up the suit.

Flash managed to best Captain America in combat and when he got back with the suit, he found himself teaming up with Jack O'Lantern to a road-trip. Cap then tasked Red Hulk with a solo mission to retrieve Venom symbiote and bring it back to base. The following day, Flash and Jack heads straight to Devil's Den Casino of Las Vegas, where they breaks in to get the Toxin symbiote for Crime-Master but as soon as Venom senses it, Flash loses control over his suit and things goes way out of hand.

Whatever control Flash had over the symbiote is gone and tries to eleminate the Toxin symbiote so that it could not compete with Venom for a battle of dominance on Earth in future. Jack O'Lantern breaks in to secure the package and remind Flash to calm down as he puts the symbiote in a container. Venom completely ignores anything that Jack said and keeps violently pouncing at the villain to get the container back. Crime-Master suggests Jack to run for his life and he barely made it out of Flash's clutch by threatening his family if the latter doesn't comply.

Flash calls Betty and breaks up with her to cut ties with her and save her from Crime-Master and Jack O'Lantern. By the time, he calmed down, General Thunderbolt Ross AKA the Red Hulk was looking for the symbiote to take it back into custody. Seeing a hostile Rulk breaking-in, the suit tries to take over him and they blew up a gas station in the ensuing struggle. Meanwhile, Wolverine's cloned daughter X-23 gets into the casino tracking the trail of a vial of her blood and discovers a band of Symbiote Warriors cloned in tubes.

Devil's Den Casino owner Mr. Degli and his girlfriend Ms. Oyle goes to a satanic machine with hundred sinful souls to open a black doorway and sensing this, the new Spirit of Vengeance; Alejandra Jones heads to the location, leaving Johnny Blaze in the Nevada desert. While rushing into the scene, Alejandra accidentally helped activate the doorway as demons enters Earth. Mr. Degli and Ms. Oyle reveal them to be Blackheart and his lover Gari Oyle as Ghost Rider, Red Hulk, Venom and X-23 appears to fight Hell and Antithesis; the dark counterpart of their own to save Earth.

"Circle of Four" is a six-part plotline that ran into the second monthly ongoing comic-book volume of Venom from Marvel Comics, written by Jeff Parker, Rick Remender (AXIS, Captain America – Castaway in Dimension Z), Rob Williams and drawn by Julian Tedesco, Lan Medina, Lee Garbett, Sana Takeda, Tony Moore (Deadpool, Punisher). The story is another father-son hatred battle to rise to power in Hell between the demon Blackheart and his father Mephisto. As always, Mephisto found some pawns to do his bidding and gave them something that they wanted in return like a master manipulator.

Circle of Damnation

This skirmish of Hell also added never before teamed-up characters like Ghost Rider, Red Hulk, Venom and X-23 side by side to work as a team, which also is homage to the New Fantastic Four storyline from the 90's. Though it was very hard to match their combined ego to go team but dire objective in hand really motivated them all to act as a group and they had no other choice left. Aside from the unusual alliance formed during the story, characters like Doctor Strange, Hellstorm, Secret Avengers member Beast and Giant-Man made cameo appearance into it at one point.

X-Force – Sex and Violence | Comics

The long-running sexual tension between Wolverine and Domino comes to a point where it invites senseless violence.

A badly beaten, bloodied and battle-worn Domino remembers being attacked by a group of assailants who broke into her place, which she barely survived and ended up on Alcatraz Island. She hits the washroom spitting two of her teeth into sink and tells Elixir to heal her wounds up but Wolverine of X-Force stopped him from doing so.

Logan came here seeking her when he sensed that she is cooking some trouble and asks her how who did this to her. Neena spills that members of the infamous Assassins Guild took her in for a score but she never really knew who she was working for. Then shit just hit the fan and they are attacked by Ninjas of The Hand out of nowhere.

As these villains were busy tearing each other apart, she finds out that they were after a cargo full of captive Japanese girls. She managed to smuggle them back to Texas and helped them to get back but now the Guild is very pissed at her and want payback.

Wolverine suddenly shoots the hinges off the door to see X-23 standing on the other side and she came here following his trails. Laura suggests that Domino is still hiding something about her encounter with Assassins Guild and the run-in with Hand. Telling her to stay out of this, he tells Elixir to heal her before getting out.

Logan decides to stick with her and though she doesn't want his help, Domino suggests he is hanging out for a hookup. A bullet hits him, causing the car to crash and she comes out to see the Guild sends its members to bring her. A quick shootout ensues where Wolvie joins to lend a hand before they take out everyone and passionately kiss.

The villainous Razor-Fist leading the Guild members comes out asking her about the money she stole from them and Logan too asks her the same question. He goes slicing and dicing them up until getting stabbed by the mercenary leader. Logan manages to break free and spare him to tell Belladonna Boudreaux to stop chasing Neena Thurman.

Domino later confessed to him that during the rescue of those girls, she found a truck full of 237 million dollar and took it, which is why the Guild is mad now. The gun wielding bombshell suggests that they spend some quality time together in a hotel and then discuss about what to do with the money. Being an animal, Logan simply complies.

Assassins Guild leader Belladonna is furious at the incompetence of Razor-Fist, so she calls in favor from Black Mamba, Boomerang, Bullet, Bushwacker, Clay and Nakh to finish the job. They are quickly located in their hotel room in San Francisco, where Bushwacker breaks in to capture Domino and kill Wolverine, only to fail miserably.

These two then head to face the Guild and Neena points out walking straight to enemy lair is kind of a suicide mission she is not very fond of but for this instant, she is trusting Weapon X. The Guild thought that he came here to exchange her life for money but he suggests that the money goes to charity and they leave Domino alone.

An infuriated Belladonna orders her legion of killer to take them down and as the former X-Men duo was already having a hard time to even defend their own; a group of Ninjas sent by The Hand comes out of shadows to apprehend them.

In 2010, Marvel Comics took writers Christopher Yost (X-23 – Innocence Lost, X-23 – Target X) and Craig Kyle (X-Force – Angels & Demons, X-Force – Old Ghosts) to work on a three part limited series focused on X-Force in collaboration with artist Gabriele Dell'Otto (Secret Wars, The Clone Conspiracy), who mostly does cover art in general.

"Sex and Violence" is the result of that creative process and features current X-Force members Archangel, Domino, Elixir, Vanisher, Warpath, Wolverine and X-23. After Cyclops has deployed a strike force version of the team following the events of "Messiah CompleX", the group has been operating as a black ops squad of mutants.

Aggression and Romance

Although there is a certain twist in the plot that might make things interesting in the end, at times it might feels like that the story was only conceived to portray a couple of hot and steamy romantic encounter between Logan and Neena. Both Assassins Guild and The Hand may seem underplayed and so is the character of Belladonna Boudreaux.

This sexiest blood-soaked adventure taken place in "Sex and Violence" ushered a new direction for the team which reflected on a new monthly ongoing series Uncanny X-Force with some new members like Deadpool, Fantomex and Psylocke on the team.

Old Man Logan | Comics
Long before everything gone under the rule of super-villains, Logan was a mutant with animalistic nature and a healing factor that made him into a Weapon X operative Wolverine and eventually an X-Man. He was leading his life in adventure with the X-Men, until the villain uprising when Mysterio tricked him into killing all of his fellow teammates and afterwards, his grief made him abandon his heroics.

In his exile, he met Maureen and settled down with their two kids in Hulkland. Then he went on a road trip with Hawkeye as a hired guide, killed Red Skull and came back too late to pay his rent money. As the Hulk gang got bored and murdered his family, he unsheathed his claws again for revenge and wiped out the entire Banner-Family with ruthless efficiency.

The incursions of worlds have destroyed the Multiverse (Time Runs Out) and he found himself on God Doom's Battleworld. He ended up in Deadlands, where he found She-Hulk among the undead and convinced her to help him get out. Awoken in a new world, Logan was unaware of the fact that his counterpart of this world is long-dead, yet he decided to kill the ones who doomed his reality.

So, he faced Totally Awesome Hulk but backed out upon learning it was not Banner himself. In search of Hawkeye, he found Kate Bishop, leading him to a meet Captain America. Logan was found by Storm; the current leader of X-Men and is enrolled into the team after a time-displaced Jean Grey convinced him to (X-Haven). An alternate fictional take on the classic Marvel Comics character Wolverine, Old Man Logan is created by writer Mark Miller (Kick-Ass, Reborn) and artist Steve McNiven (Civil War, New Avengers) in 2008, as a storyline which is set in the reality of Earth-807128, apart from the regular timeline.

Back for Redemption

Following "Death of Wolverine", Marvel was in a crisis for Wolverine in their publication and they made X-23 take the mantle. However, there was still a void and so; they used the events of "Secret Wars" to bring the version of the hero who was also having a live-action movie released in 2017 titled "Logan". Although, this version of Wolverine is considerably slow and weak, he still is the best there is at what he does.
