Deathstroke | Comics

Long before he turned into the world's deadliest and most highly sought assassin, Slade Wilson had a thing for combat techniques. He joined the army in his early teens and rose to the rank of Major in a very short time. Highly impressed at his skill set, his combat trainer Captain Adeline Kane fell in love with him and trained him in guerrilla warfare.

Slade was drafted to Vietnam War while Adeline was pregnant and an event of massacring an entire village by his unit deeply scarred him. He joined a U.S. Military project for creating Meta-Human and then he secretly started operating as a mercenary. But his cover to his family is blown by the Jackal who kidnapped Slade’s son Joseph Wilson and the confrontation with his wife cost him his right eye and wearing a patch, he became Deathstroke.

He started antagonizing the Teen Titans and develops an animosity with Beast Boy by gravely injuring him. Then he used Terra as a mole inside the Titans to take them down (Judas Contract). With help from his son Jericho, Nightwing took him down. During Titans Hunt, Slade was hired by Doom Patrol to seek out the Titans.

He lost Jericho in fight but later seen controlling Rose Wilson AKA The Ravager. In a confrontation against the Justice League, Green Arrow pissed him off and Slade grew a feud on him. Slade was a member of Lex Luthor’s Secret Society and hired Nightwing to train Rose. One Year Later, Slade came back at Green Arrow, formed Titans East, started manipulating Batgirl and joined the League of Assassins to control Damian Wayne against Batman.

Before the release of the movie The Terminator, originally Slade Wilson was known as Deathstroke the Terminator, a fictional character invented for DC Comics by Marv Wolfman (Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC Universe Online – Legends) and George Perez (Final Crisis – Legion of 3 Worlds, Wonder Woman). Appearing on the second issue of The New Teen Titans monthly series in 1980, Deathstroke soon made a name for himself in the comic book industry.

Aside from his clashes with superheroes like Batman, Green Arrow, Teen Titans and Justice League, he was a key character in major events and storylines such as Family Lost, No Man's Land, Identity Crisis, Justice League Elite, Infinite Crisis, Road to Jericho, Final Crisis, Blackest Night, The Return of Bruce Wayne and Brightest Day. Before DC Comics rebooted their timeline to The New 52, Slade Wilson appeared briefly in the “Flashpoint” crossover to die at the hand of Aquaman.

Batgirl – Year One | Comics

Young Barbara Gordon went from police Captain James Gordon's daughter to costumed vigilante hero Batgirl!

Barbara Gordon is a college graduate who is a computer-genius and after completing her college, she now wants to join the Gotham City Police Department following the footprints of her father Captain James Gordon. After being refused to be a detective she tries to enlist herself to FBI but she got rejected again for her lack of height and younger age.

Seeing traditional means of crime-fighting opportunities as an off-limit for her, she took inspiration from the costumed vigilantes and managed to send a message to Justice Society of America's member Black Canary regarding her wish to be a sidekick but ended up receiving a negative response from her mentor Wildcat.

Deeply sorrowed by all the dead-ends of her dreams, she locked herself up in home and to console his daughter, Jim Gordon invites her to a masquerade ball. Thinking this as an opportunity she showed up in the ball in an altered version of Batman’s costume, unbeknown to her father.

Her appearance as well as the ongoing party is soon interrupted by a bankrupt ex-millionaire turned second-string super-villain named Killer Moth, who wants to kidnap one of Gotham’s elite; Bruce Wayne for ransom but fails due to Barbara’s intervention. With Barbara on his tail, a running Killer Moth dubs her ‘Batgirl’ as Batman and Robin arrives at the scene. As she continued her vigilantism, a suspicion came to her father’s mind and she received aid from the dynamic duo.

Green Arrow | Comics

Growing up idolizing Robin Hood, Oliver Queen naturally had every quality to become an accomplished archer and so he kept practicing with bow and arrows. His life changed tragically when his parents were mauled by a lion and he paused without shooting it. But he grew up to be an irresponsible and drunken playboy inheriting the Queen Enterprises until his friend Hackett’s betrayal drifted him to Starfish Island only to confront a crime lord.

Determined to become a crime-fighter, he returned to Star City and took the name Green Arrow as well as a sidekick named Roy Harper AKA Speedy. With their non-lethal Trick Arrows, he and Speedy would go on patrol in costume. Ollie becomes a member of the JLA and eventually met JSA member Dinah Lance AKA Black Canary.

In his career, Oliver Queen has worked alongside Batman, Catwoman and mostly with Green Lantern Hal Jordan whom he also stopped when Parallax got him in Zero Hour. He grew flustered and Connor Hawke took his mantle. He dies in an accident while investigating the Eden Corps even after the best efforts of Superman. He was resurrected during Final Night by his friend Hal Jordan.

When the entire League faced Doctor Light for his actions against Elongated Man's wife Sue Dibny, Green Arrow picked a fight with Deathstroke that lasted quite long (Identity Crisis). One Year Later, Ollie becomes the Mayor of Star City and Deathstroke took a hit on him. Teaming up with Batman, he even fought Brick and Red Hood. Upon ending the clash, he finally marries Black Canary.
