Superman – New 52 | Comics

Before the formation of Justice League (Justice League – Origin), Superman used to fight crime and battle super-villains alone on his own terms. He as Clark Kent and Lois Lane works for two different leading newspaper and is not ever married, not even dating each other.

After the battle with David Graves, (Justice League – The Villain's Journey) he starts dating Wonder Woman, which would continue for a while. The Legion of Super-Heroes traveled in time with him to save him from Anti-Superman Army.

He had given up his Clark Kent persona into a firefighter of Metropolis, "Johnny Clark" due to his accidental revelation of identity. Johnny Clark would continue on his own but Batman helped him out to resurrect the “Clark Kent” persona again for him.

He and reporter Lois Lane may have cross paths and will not come in same terms with each other but they both have a respect for each other. He also has Superboy; a clone of himself and his cousin from Krypton; Supergirl at his side in many adventures in time to time as well. With them at his side as well as the Justice League, Superman was successful in halting H’El’s plan to destroy Earth (H'El on Earth) and nearly killing Superboy.

He battles villains like Darkseid, Biomass, Vyndktvx, Lex Luthor, Helspont and a deadly infection of the ultimate Kryptonian killing machine Doomsday (Superman – Doomed) while playing his role as reporter Clark as well. Then he met another super-power being Ulysses (The Men of Tomorrow) from Dimension Four.

The New Girl In Town

Followed up by previous story "Public Enemies" from the first monthly ongoing Superman/Batman series of DC Comics, "Supergirl from Krypton" is the second storyline which ran through issue #08-13. This plot is devised by writer Jeph Loeb (Batman – Dark Victory, Catwoman – When in Rome) and interiors were done by artist Michael Turner (Soulfire, Witchblade). This is the only story arc where Turner did the illustrations other than TopCow or Aspen MLT. This tale was dedicated to the famous actor Christopher Reeve, who portrayed Man of Steel in several movies, died that year at the ending of this story. Later this story was adopted to make a direct-to-video from DC Universe Animated Original Movie line titled, Superman/Batman – Apocalypse (2010).

Superman – Red Son | Comics
Before his birth-planet Krypton gets destroyed, Kal-L was sent to Earth in a rocket-ship by his parents who were part of a very advanced culture than us. Due to an unexpected malfunction en route, his rocket had landed on a collective farm of Soviet Ukraine before a few hours than it was planned. Josef Stalin was the leader of Soviet Union then and the boy is immediately taken to custody by his government. They witnessed un-earthly abilities that the boy possessed and decided to employ him for the greater good of the country. So, he grew up to be a Soviet citizen, whose identity was a state secret, eventually becomes an associate of Stalin's inner circle and he names the boy “Superman” for his extraordinary powers that helped them boost their regime.

It was during Cold War when USSR has introduced their secret weapon to whole world and turned tides of the whole scenario. As Superman became an icon to everyone and a favorite to Stalin himself, Pyotr Roslov; Stalin’s illegitimate son grew jealous of him. Upon persuasion from CIA, an American S.T.A.R. "Red Son" is a three issue limited series that features an alternate history of Man of Steel that is way different than his mainstream portrayal; an idea conceived by writer Mark Miller (The Flash, Swamp Thing). This series was drawn by artists Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett, which was from DC Comics’s Elseworlds imprint and was released on 2003. Alternate portrayal of popular DC Comics characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (as Green Light), Lois Lane (as Lois Luthor), Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Bizarro, Parasite, Metallo and Doomsday are also attributed to the story. The reality of Red Son is marked as set on Earth-30 which is part of DC’s multiple Earths and also belongs to the reality of The New 52. Superman from this timeline also appeared on Countdown – Arena and DC – The New Frontier limited series later.
