With the artists team of Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, Avengers & X-Men – Axis), Jerome Opeña and Dustin Weaver, Marvel Comics have had comic-book writer Jonathan Hickman (Secret Wars, Time Runs Out) concoct the 2013 major crossover comic event “Infinity”. Issues from many other monthly ongoing series like Avengers Assemble, Captain Marvel, Fearless Defenders, Guardians of the Galaxy, Mighty Avengers, Nova, Secret Avengers, Superior Spider-Man Team-Up and Thunderbolts also served as the tie-in issues of this cosmic Marvel adventure.

Rumor has it that even though the 2018's Marvel Cinematic Universe live-action release of Avengers: Infinity War takes the legendary "Infinity Gauntlet" arc as their primary plotline, 2013's "Infinity" crossover event will also shape the film's plot to a modern setting. Elements from the crossover such as introducing the Black Order as lackeys of Thanos in the film to do his bidding is possibly one of such. Instead of Black Order, his lackeys are referred as Children of Thanos in the film and Black Dwarf among them is named Cull Obsidian, which is actually an alias for Black Order in the comics.

On the surface world, he was always feared and he never really understood if he was a hero or a monster. Down here, he lives with a moloid tribe who are celebrating the green goliath's presence among them. Even though the elder of the tribe assures Hulk an undisturbed stay in here, he is not quite convinced yet. The welcome party for Hulk is soon interrupted by the unexpected arrival of a secret government sponsored team with their robotic drones and drills to eliminate mad scientists, called the Mad Squad, led by Amanda Von Doom.

Amanda seeks out Hulk's assistance in their current mission and that is to stop the now unstable scientist Bruce Banner who has become a great problem for them. Bruce is restlessly trying to re-invent the Incredible Hulk, which he believes is one of his greatest achievements over the years, by experimenting on various creatures on the island laboratory and turning every type of animal into gamma-irradiated monsters, causing menace to the people around.

Amanda is on charge of the operation to take Banner down for good. Hulk shows no interest in her cause and turns her down. But later, when his newly found adoptive family of moloids is attacked by Banner's creatures; a bipedal gamma-irradiated warthog duo called 26 and 27, Hulk decides to help Amanda on one condition; to face Bruce Banner by himself and finish all of this madness for good.

A date with his wife Betty Ross goes sore when she finds out that Banner actually came to a deserted tropical island for his own research purpose. He started his work there which was a neuclear testing site from the 50's. When his continuous effort of bringing out the Hulk from within fails, Banner entertains the idea of creating the gamma-bomb that gave birth to the green goliath in the first place.

Fear Itself | Comics
The Red Skull and his followers performed a ritual of blood-sacrifice decades ago, during World War II, to resurrect the Asgardian god of fear, The Serpent. His ritual caused the Hammer of Skadi to fall on Earth but even after locating the hammer, he was unable to lift it. In recent days Red Skull's daughter Sin finds it and becomes The Skadi, Herald of the Serpent upon lifting it. The Serpent is freed from his underwater imprisonment and seven divine hammers falls on Earth's various locations. Tony Stark offers help from his company, Stark Resilient to re-construct Asgard, after the demolition caused in "Siege" but on Serpent's return, Odin draws back his men from Earth.

The Serpent actually is Odin's brother Cul, who was defeated by him ages ago for his corrupt rule after their father's death. Soon those seven divine hammers come into contact with the villain Absorbing Man, Attuma, Grey Gargoyle, Hulk, Juggernaut, Titania and The Thing of the Fantastic Four, turning them into Serpent's generals. With the newly gained divine power and in its mystic influence, they start creating havoc around the globe on behalf of their Dark Master. The Avengers and Thor opposes The Skadi and the other generals of The Serpent with everything they got but even after everyone’s best effort, The Serpent is not stalled a bit. Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Fist, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Red She-Hulk and Doctor Strange are assembled to make a final stand against The Serpent and his generals.
