Civil War | Comics

When the young mutant group of heroes, the New Warriors tried to get higher ratings for their own TV Show by ambushing a few second-string super villains like Cobalt Man, Coldheart, Nitro and Speedfreak, their plan went wrong. The villain Nitro caused an explosion during his escape attempt which killed more than 600 people, among them 60 were confirmed to be children.

This event sparked an anti-mutant hysteria in the aftermath of M-Day and the necessity for superheroes to be kept in check and thus the Super Human Registration Act, which was already being discussed by a few super people earlier, is passed within a week. According to the Act's rule, every super powered person both heroes or villains should reveal their secret identities to the government and to register with them as well.

Captain America was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. to work with them in support of the Act because of his influence on the community but his quick refusal made him a fugitive of law too and he narrowly escaped his capture at the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. Captain America formed the Secret Avengers with Cable, Daredevil, Falcon, Bill Foster, Hercules and Luke Cage, who were opposed to the Registration Act. Iron Man grouped the other super peoples to the Act's support as well as Spider-Man on his side. Upon being convinced by Tony Stark, he even revealed his secret identity in front of public as a support to the Act.

Cap's team is soon joined by Young Avengers, Cloak and Dagger as they occasionally fights S.H.I.E.L.D. "cape-killer" units and other criminals. Tony on the other hand believed that, oversight of heroes is a great idea. Then, along with Mister Fantastic and Hank Pym, he created Prison 42 for captive heroes and villains alike who will not comply with them, located inside the Negative Zone. Peter Parker realized that Tony is monitoring him with his new Iron Spider suit and then took a tour of the Negative Zone; he quickly realized that he joined the wrong side.

He sneak out of Stark Tower with Aunt May and Mary Jane but Iron Man released a few villains on his tail to bring him back. It was the timely intervention of Punisher who saved Spidey and brought him to Cap's secret base. Soon, the whole super human community became split into two teams. A major conflict between the divided heroes occurs and the effect is going to shake the core of everyone’s relation with each other.

Civil War (Hardcover)

Considered as one of the great story by renowned writer Mark Miller (Kick-Ass, Reborn), "Civil War" is a major crossover storyline of Marvel Comics, which was published in 2007. The main seven issue mini-series that was drawn by artist Steve McNiven (Death of Wolverine, Wolverine – Old Man Logan), is published with many other tie-in books as well. The event found its place in the pages of other monthly ongoing running series like Amazing Spider-Man, Black Panther, Cable/Deadpool, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, New Avengers, Punisher – War Journal, Sensational Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Thunderbolts and Wolverine.

"Civil War" has changed the dynamics of heroes in the whole Marvel Universe from inside out as heroes who previously fought alongside against world-ending threats became each others' opponent. Doctor Strange and the team of X-Men remained mostly neutral during this event, except for Wolverine, who went on a solo mission to take down Nitro himself. The story is later adapted into a live-action film, the third movie of the Captain America trilogy titled "Captain America: Civil War" from Marvel Studios on 2016.

New Avengers – The Collective | Comics

House of M changed the world and now a major threat rises from its ruins for New Avengers to face-off.

Before New Avengers were formed following a massive prison break at Raft, both The Avengers and X-Men band together to confront Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch in Genosha. Their face-off resulted millions of mutants losing their power due to her reality-altering abilities except a hundred few and it was kept a secret from all.

From outer space, a beam of energy starts heading towards Earth and landed on North Pole, Alaska, killing many people with a massive explosion. Out of piles of dead bodies and wreckage comes out a glowing man screaming in his loincloths.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Maria Hill calls in Tony Stark after they have gone public with their new team and asks him about "House of M", which he narrowly avoids answering. Hill is called in for a Red Alert situation that turned out to be recent destruction of Alaska and her initial response to send in some agents have failed pretty miserably.

Unable to get a hold of Fantastic Four, she contacts Alpha Flight when that energy crossed Canadian border but they all ended up being decimated within moments. Hill then calls for U.S. President, who suggests that she puts her arrogance away for a moment and call New Avengers for help now that the alien being is headed to America.

Unable to come up with any other solution, Maria Hill reaches to Avengers and updates them on the situation. As they talk, it already reached Cleveland and Captain America asks for S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Daisy Johnson. For additional backup, he talked to Bob Reynolds and calling for The Sentry but he was having a nervous breakdown.

Iron Man reaches out to Ms. Marvel for support and went to talk to this being who spelled out his name as Michael but before he could talk further, Carol Danvers attacked him from behind only to get struck down. She tried to approach him as she could absorb all energy and realizes that her cosmic Binary powers have been reactivated.

Spider-Man is sent to S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier with a task to lead "Team Two" and Tony reaches out for Vision of Young Avengers. Michael strips down Iron Man of his armor but Carol came in to save Tony from him. She then tried to hurt it back again only for The Sentry came swooping in at last minute and took him straight to space.

Ms. Marvel explains to Cap how it is like being kicked by fifty different super powers at once. In space, both Michael and Sentry were besting each other for some time before Bob is pushed far away and it headed back to Earth. Spidey and Vision helped S.H.I.E.L.D. figure out who this being could be before they are taken out for more info.

They found match to Michael's power with all depowered mutants in M-Day and Iron Man theorizes that "The Collective" energy of those powers had nowhere to go and then it found him, who was just an energy-absorbing mutant. After some debate, they decide to let the being pursue its course and see where it wants to go.

Michael then arrived straight to Genosha, former home of million mutants that has become a barren wasteland. There, he starts expelling all of that energy, causing massive power surge and it attacks a depowered Erik Magnus AKA Magneto. Things seem to quickly get out of hand but then Steve Rogers pulled on his secret weapon.

New Avengers – The Collective (Hardcover)

To tie-in loose ends of House of M event, writer Brian Michael Bendis (New Avengers – Breakout, New Avengers – Sentry) have collaborated with artists Mike Deodato Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man – Sins Past, Amazing Spider-Man – Skin Deep) and Steve McNiven (Civil War, Death of Wolverine) for Marvel Comics in latest New Avengers story.

Titled "The Collective", it is comprised of issues #16-20 from first monthly ongoing titular comic-book series and came out in 2007. Bendis only wrapped up one part of a large puzzle that was about the collective power that Scarlet Witch took months ago from majority of mutant population on Earth by altering reality and left them depowered.

Ghost of Genosha!

S.H.I.E.L.D. was aware that both The Avengers and X-Men knew something about this oddity but refused to share details with them. Therefore, its current Director Maria Hill seemed to act a bit antagonistic towards Stark and his New Avengers.

Nearing the end of their previous adventure "Secrets & Lies", Ms. Marvel came by for a visit and given a slight hint of M-Day when she met Captain America. A new trouble arises in horizon because of newly issued Superhuman Registration Act that will create a major rift within superhero community, causing a "Civil War" to set them apart.

Avengers – Red Zone | Comics

When a deadly biological weapon starts killing off people, The Avengers tracks back its root to United States government.

In South Dakota, a strange red cloud starts infecting and killing people like a plague nearing Mount Rushmore. As it starts spreading, police and F.E.M.A. quickly arrives to help, followed by The Avengers. Sending off a kid into a rescue chopper, Captain America heads over to the crowd to offer his help, waiting for his team to show up.

He is joined by Ant-Man, Jack of Hearts, Scarlet Witch, She-Hulk, Vision and Warbird but they are halted by U.S. military. Wanda Maximoff uses her hex powers to concentrate and was able to redirect the cloud temporarily. Ignoring military warnings, Avengers wear protective suits to enter red cloud and assess what has lead to this disaster.

In a government research facility, Dr. Bill Foster confirms Iron Man that this is a bio-terrorist attack for sure. Black Panther adds that Wakanda can help neutralize its effects by creating an enzyme but is interrupted by U.S. Secretary of Defense. Since Avengers are no longer sponsored by United States, they both are asked to leave.

T'Challa managed to steal a blood sample from lab that was being analyzed earlier before they were escorted out. Meanwhile, Cap and rest of his team goes deep into the roots of this deadly mess while leaving Carol Danvers behind to assist U.S. troops and help organize in quarantined area due to her status as former project leader at NASA.

Finding a way into an underground secret lab, Cap discovers that a U.S. bio-weapon research center is behind this deadly cloud all along. He collects dog tags of all fallen soldiers and Wanda finds multiple bullet holes on entrance door. Vision failed to access its scrambled data and Scott Lang learns this secret program is called "Project Bloodwash".

Leaving Jack Hart behind to aid him, rest of his team moves along to find more anyone who is responsible for this carnage. Scott sends his findings to Tony about how this weapon was being designed to kill all non-white humans. Stark was working with Black Panther to come up with a cure but are ambushed and captured by U.S. Army.

She-Hulk opens up a gate that was housing a group of A.I.M. soldiers who then shot at her and damaged her suit. When they faced Vision, one of them tried to throw a grenade and ended up killing all of their own. Jack is ordered to take Jennifer out on surface quickly, as she has now changed into her human form, infected by the virus.

Scott Lang eventually discovered who spearheaded "Project Bloodwash" but before they could move outside, She-Hulk came back tossing Jack Hart at them. In a momentary fit of rage, she smashes her teammates and heavily wrecks Vision. Wanda managed to convey a distress message seeking help that is received by Carol Danvers.

As T'Challa tries to find a way to escape, Tony Stark calls in his Iron Man suit to their unknown location of captivity. Secretary of Defense, Dell Rusk talks to Avengers official U.N. liaison Henry Peter Gyrich about how his given access codes for personal stuff of the heroes are not working and then excuses him upon receiving a call from President.

Gyrich went outside to meet Avenger member Falcon and report on his recent progress of digging dirt on Secretary Rusk lately but their conversation is interrupted shortly when Sam Wilson is shot out of nowhere. Dell Rusk then came out of bushes holding a gun and shot at Gyrich as well before revealing him to be villainous Red Skull.

Returning once again on his brief stint on Avengers comic-book, writer Geoff Johns (Avengers – Standoff, The Thing – Freakshow) teams-up with artist Olivier Coipel (Avengers – Lionheart of Avalon, The Mighty Thor – The Galactus Seed) for "Red Zone" storyline, which collects issues #65-70 of third ongoing volume from Marvel Comics.

After a biological weapon originated in Mount Rushmore starts killing civilians, The Avengers responded as quickly as they could but were halted by United States government officials in every steps. One of Captain America's oldest rivals would return for vengeance to bring the system to its knees and having all of its minorities killed.

Instead of fighting alien races or super-villains Cap and his friends are forced to fight against a corruption within system that they try to protect. Therefore, powerful heroes like Scarlet Witch and Warbird were mostly sitting in the sidelines. It took some detective work of Falcon and Henry Gyrich to flush out the real culprit behind this mess.

In times of crisis, T'Challa and Tony Stark try to put their differences away to save lives in present as well as in future. Meanwhile, She-Hulk goes berserk and has savagely beaten up one of her teammate before running away. Trying to find and bring her back again, Avengers will be heading out up next in "Search for She-Hulk" storyline.
