Superior Spider-Man – A Troubled Mind
 | Comics
Octavious has now established himself in Peter Parker’s body after Peter had died in his old body (Dying Wish). As Superior Spider-Man, Octavious is acting in his own ways and viewpoints. As a result, he became more practical with any given situation and that makes him quite unfriendly. Currently, Spidey’s rogues gallery of villains are paying the painful price of the new-found attitude of their rival. The criminal mercenary Massacre has paid the ultimate price (My Own Worst Enemy) before and the duo of Jester and Screwball are bruised and battered by him recently for their pranks on him meant for some exclusive head-cam footage. Meanwhile, a portion of Peter Parker’s consciousness seemed yet to have remained along with Otto Octavious himself in his body.

Peter subsequently tries to stop Otto, whenever he overwhelms a villain or goes way too far. He fights to gain control over his body again and while Octavious was in sleep, he managed to slightly move his right hand. The Avengers also detected abnormalities in his behavior and threatens to kick him out of the team, leading him to a brief skirmish with Captain America. They knocked him up and ran a few tests on him that proves that he is not a Skrull or a shape-shifter. Octavious also detects these abnormalities in his mind when he tangled with Dr. Elias Wirtham AKA Cardiac and battles in his mind to decide who is worthy to be Spider-Man between him and Peter. With all the craziness going around, the Green Goblin assembles a new empire to which he is the Goblin King!

Superior Spider-Man – A Troubled Mind

A new change has come to the entire Marvel Universe after the “Dying Wish” storyline from the Amazing Spider-Man monthly comic series back in 2012 that has launched the Superior Spider-Man as a new monthly ongoing title in the place of the former one. Writer Dan Slott (Mighty Avengers, She-Hulk) along with artist Humberto Ramos (Crimson, Revelations) and Ryan Stegman (Scarlet Spider, Wolverine) has cooked up this storyline pretty good which ran from issue #06-10 of the Superior Spider-Man series in 2013. The timeline then continues with the “No Escape” tale from the same series and eventually leads to the “Goblin Nation” crossover event.

It was revealed in “Dying Wish” that during their previous encounter, Doctor Octopus has somehow switched his consciousness with Peter Parker via one of his Octobots and the body of Doc Ock in the prison now holds the mind of Peter. As a final attempt to stop his enemy from getting away, Peter assembles the other villains who thought him to be Doc Ock to stop the one wandering in Spidey’s body.

In a final battle, Peter eventually dies in Doc Ock’s old, fragile body and Octavious has a change of heart at that moment. He promises to take care of business Spidey used to handle and the people he love and will become the Superior Spider-Man.

As Superior Spider-Man, he tussled with The Avengers for being unusually suspicious, fought the reformed Green Goblin, a new Venom, the fourth Hobgoblin, battered second rate villains like Jester and Screwball, destroyed the Kingpin’s lair of The Hand. Meanwhile, a small fraction of Peter’s rebel mind still seems to be roaming around inside of him for gaining control over the mind of Octavious and his unchecked actions.

Scarlet Spider | Comics

Biochemistry professor Miles Warren had a strong romantic pull over Peter Parker’s then love interest Gwen Stacy. When she died (Death of the Stacys) Warren gone mad thinking Spider-Man was solely responsible for this incident and took the identity of The Jackal to make Spidey’s life miserable. First, he made a clone of Peter Parker named Kaine, then he cloned Gwen Stacy and created another clone named Ben Reilly.

He allied himself with Green Goblin and ushered Clone Saga. Jackal fooled Peter to believe that he is a clone and Ben is the real deal but when the former died, everyone realized Jackal’s deception. Kaine believed Peter to be a clone and used to roam New York as a serial killer who tried to frame Ben Reilly for the murders.

After Ben’s demise, Peter becomes Spider-Man again and Kaine Parker lived. He sacrifices himself during the “Grim Hunt” when Alyosha and Ana Kravinoff came looking for Spider-Man to resurrect Kraven through a ritual. Kaine eventually came back to life as a six-legged freak Tarantula during “Spider-Island” event and ended the crisis.

He becomes Scarlet Spider with all the power but none of the responsibility. Alongside Venom, Kaine tangled with Carnage upon his return (Minimum Carnage), fought the Assassins Guild, bested the X-Men and teamed up with Wolverine. Scarlet Spider allied himself with the New Warriors and later traveled to Spider-Verse to put an end to the reign of Morlun and The Inheritors alongside the Spider-Men of Multiverse.

Originated from the idea of Spider-Man, a clone version of the character was introduced by Terry Kavanagh and Steven Butler on the pages of Marvel Comics and the alias ‘Scarlet Spider’ was first used by Peter Parker’s clone Ben Reilly in 1994. Then Joe Wade assumed the name upon becoming an evil cybernetic version of it and then Peter himself had taken the role briefly.

Later a team of three Michael Van Patrick clones acted as Scarlet Spiders to form "Red Team" for The Initiative and finally Kaine Parker took the mantle in his own monthly ongoing series for good. The character had a short lived ongoing series titled ‘The Amazing Scarlet Spider’ back in 1995 and later another series was launched in 2012 featuring Kaine Parker, who at one point even met with the Superior Spider-Man during 'Sibling Rivalry'.
