Suicide Squad – Death is for Suckers | Comics

During their assault on the cult-like organization Basilisk, Squad member Deadshot apparently sacrificed himself while battling their evil leader Regulus. Because of this heroic deed and his background as a marine grant him a proper military burial despite of his career as a mercenary. When the funeral starts, suddenly a green rain starts to fall and all the individuals present is rendered unconscious except Harley Quinn.

This points her to the one possibility and that means The Joker is back. Even though Harley was boundless with joy to see him, she got punched in the face by Mr. J. He took back his peeled face from her while asking if she missed him as he was aware of her little intimate moment with Deadshot from their early mission (Kicked in the Teeth).

Because of her infidelity, Joker decides to make her suffer and attempts to disfigure the body of Floyd Lawton just to torment her a little more. She holds a gun at Joker and threatens to shoot him if he doesn’t stop immediately and he offers her a deal for which he will leave them both alone. So she is all set up to face Batman in Ace Chemical Plant (Batman – Death of the Family) as Joker’s demand.

More distressed emotional moment passes between the two loonies and Amanda Waller watches it all remotely. Meanwhile, Deadshot surprisingly wakes up from dead in Belle Reve infirmary. The Squad is then sent to Gotham City with another mission to retrieve a package from their teammate Yo-Yo’s sister Red Orchid, who has a connection to Basilisk's leader Regulus.

Suicide Squad Vol 03 – Death is for Suckers (Softcover)

Aliens Vs. Predator – Fire and Stone | Comics

To find out the unresolved mystery about USCSS Prometheus' fate, Angela Foster have led a group of explorers to the barren moon of LV-223 only to find out it's hostile secrets that took a death-toll on her companions. If that wasn't bad enough, terminally ill scientist Francis Lane among her crew has found engineer Derrick Russell's final days of work and in a desperate attempt to save his pathetic life, he tricked his humanoid construct aid Elden to take a dosage of that Black Goo which significantly changes him into a mutated form.

Although Francis managed to escape from him, a vengeful Elden led a Xenomorph army with him and unleashed death upon Geryon's crew. To avoid a bloody onslaught, Geryon's chief of security Galgo Helder decides to leave this godforsaken rock on-board the Perces ship. Unbeknownst to all, a Yautja hunting party from a nearby moon noticed the death and destruction caused by Xenomorphs on LV-223 and followed them. Since Angela left Francis on Galgo's custody, he was uncertain of what to do with him and then Elden and his Xeno buddies suddenly showed up looking for Francis.

Now devoid of any reason or protocol to follow, Elden is his own master and takes over command ship Helios with a group of Xenomorphs lurking around him, waiting to tear apart anyone on sight. He explains that everything attached to Geryon is under his control and demands that Galgo gives up Francis to him if he wants to live. Considering their lives are now at his hands, Galgo though it wise to exchange Francis to survive but when the handover was about to be complete, the Yautja gang broke into Geryon.

This sudden interruption made Elden angry as he believed that Galgo is probably playing him and his gang of Aliens tries to carry out his vendetta for him. While they were slaughtering wounded human crew on ship, the Predators were busy putting android janitors out of commission. Knowing he is completely out of luck, Galgo departs in his ship Perces from Geryon and left, unknowingly carrying a stowaway hunter within. Elden's quest remains unfulfilled as the ship quickly became a kill zone for all of these monsters.

Being an ever evolving monster himself, Elden becomes a primary target of Predators and he decides to let his rage out on them. Though, they took care of his Alien friends, he became a real problem for the hunting party as he proved quite a match for them. He infects one of them with his evolved mutation during close combat and it eventually led to a horrific transformation to that Yautja. In a desperate final bid to save his own skin from all hostiles, Francis Lane does the unthinkable, which is beyond Elden's imagination.

Serving as a connecting story for major Dark Horse Comics crossover event "Fire and Stone", "Aliens Vs. Predator – Fire and Stone" ties in with three other interconnected limited series; Aliens – Fire and Stone, Prometheus – Fire and Stone and Predator – Fire and Stone. This book was plotted by writer Christopher Sebela and drawn by Ariel Olivetti (JLA – Paradise Lost, Superman/Batman Vs. Aliens/Predator). All of the covers were done by E. M. Gist while legendary illustrator Mike Mignola (Abe Sapien, Hellboy) was featured as a guest cover-artist for the beginning issue of the series.

Among Monsters and Hunters

This "Aliens Vs. Predator" line of story from "Fire and Stone" crossover explores the outcome of the genetic accelerant, most commonly referred as Black Goo on other extraterrestrials like Yautja and leaves an opening for the next "Predator" story in the line. Aside from connecting to the shared universe of Aliens/Predators/Prometheus, the book also relates to the live-action Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012) films as it took place in between their timeline. However, the concept of Aliens versus Predator came into play much later in live-action films or mainstream comic-books.

Aliens – Fire and Stone | Comics

In the year 2157, 35 years after warrant officer Ellen Ripley of Nostromo spaceship and her fellow crew members dealt with a Xenomorph incident aboard, Weyland-Yutani Corporation has set up Hadley's Hope, a terraforming and mining colony of 158 colonists on the surface of LV-426, AKA "Acheron". When an Alien outbreak occurred in 2179, no one actually believed they could survive the horrific carnage unleashed upon them. Engineer Derrick Russell gathered a small band of survivors to escape an impending massacre.

As those blood-thirsty monsters were slaughtering unfortunate colonists, with help from surveyor Nolan Cale and supervisor Genevieve Dione, they managed to hop onto a mining vessel Onager, headed to the nearest planet LV-223 but not before losing more men to those monsters. A few Aliens were able to sneak into their cargo containers without anyone ever noticing except Cale. Crews on board Onager finally made it to LV-223 with a shaky landing and the planetoid apparently has a breathable atmosphere now.

What they didn't know was about the Prometheus incident that took place on that lifeless rock long ago and how it was responsible for a new ecosystem.  Right after landing on that barren moon, Derrick tells a few men to open the cargo for supplies to send a distress beacon. Despite Cale's warning, no sooner had they opened the cargo hold, creatures hidden inside barged upon those poor survivors. Some of them are instantly decimated and others were forced to flee to nearby jungle leaving their supplies behind.

Surviving colonists set up camps, scavenge for foods and argue with each other on survival decisions while being chased by Aliens every now and then to meet their fate. Dione and Cale starts having issues over whether to constantly looking for safety or take an offensive stance but Russell decides to stay out of group affairs. While all of his comrades were falling prey to the Xenomorphs, Derrick managed to capture one of the probes mapping LV-223 that was previously left by geologist Sean Fifield, siphoning valuable data from it.

As the overrunning horrors were swiftly reducing their numbers, survival become a primary focus for everyone and no one paid him any attention. More debacles arise between self-appointed leader and death still followed them almost everywhere like their own shadow. He dives into researching the mutagenic Black Goo that mysteriously seeded life on this entire moon. Within a crashed ship, he would eventually discover an Engineer lying dormant in his stasis but can he survive until he finds the key of life?

As part of 2014's "Fire and Stone" crossover event from Dark Horse Comics, "Aliens – Fire and Stone" is a four-part limited series, serving as a tie-in story devised by comic-book writer Chris Roberson and illustrated by artist Patric Reynolds. Covers for the issues were delivered by artist David Palumbo (Alien Vs. Predator – Life and Death, Prometheus – Life and Death) with Fiona Staples (Saga, The Secret History of the Authority – Hawksmoor) providing a variant cover as well. Three other interconnected limited series; Prometheus – Fire and Stone, Alien Vs. Predator – Fire and Stone and Predator – Fire and Stone were published alongside this story arc.

Deadly and Relentless

The story came before Alien: Isolation took place, directly revolves around the aftermath of both Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012) live-action movies from 20th Century Fox. Hadley's Hope was established on LV-426 long after crews aboard Nostromo died battling an Alien executive officer Kane picked up as a facehugger from that very planetoid. In their desperate attempted escape, all survivors drop on LV-223 from same sector where USCSS Prometheus crews found their doom years before them. Only archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw and android David 8 made it out alive of that expedition.

Prometheus – Fire and Stone | Comics

In 2090, a year after they made a discovery of an ancient star map, archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw and her partner Charlie Holloway believed that they have finally found an invitation from our creator. When approached to his company, Sir Peter Weyland initially sent a probe to LV-223 for scaling the entire planetoid and examining its atmosphere but was eventually crushed by an Engineer. Shaw and her crew-mates of Prometheus learned their lesson hard when they came across one of those merciless creators and wakes him up.

126 years after USCSS Prometheus' arrival and 40 years after the landing of excavator vessel Onager from Hadley's Hope colony, spaceship Geryon, has reached on the barren moon of LV-223 with a salvage mission led by Captain Angela Foster. Her crew members set foot on an abundant jungle nearby and found its atmosphere currently breathable. While observing a bizarre scenario and encountering strange alien life all around, they have found a lake of Black Goo beside a field full of wild animals mauled to death.

Prometheus – Fire and Stone | Comics

The crews find out wrecked vessel Onager from Hadley's Hope and they unknowingly unleashed a deadly horror upon themselves. A huge swarm of Alien creatures hiding inside starts slaying them and some of them fall prey to facehuggers creeping on them, slowly succumbing to their fate. Chief of security Galgo Helder immediately starts charging at them while Angela ordered the rest of her crews to retreat. Meanwhile, astrobiologist Francis Lane and his aid, a humanoid construct named Elden got separated from their group and stumbles onto a cave that previously belonged to scientist Derrick Russell.

Upon seeing his research work, Francis realizes this lush jungle on LV-223's barren environment is actually resulted from the strange black liquid they saw earlier and it is a genetic accelerant that has incredible healing properties with horrific side effects of course. So, in a desperate attempt to find a cure for himself, he convinces Elden to be a filter for him and injected a small dose of black goo. Almost immediately, Elden starts mutating to a violent extent and a panicked Francis quickly ran for his life.

Angela and her team made it back to Helios after a short trip to the crashed derelict ship but seeing those Xenomorphs lurking nearby, they decide to stay put. Seeing no fighting chance against these horrors, Galgo along with Piper and Higgins decides to leave the moon in Perses, leaving Angela and the rest to their uncertain fate. A vengeful Elden eventually returns to exact revenge on his former friends by aiding the Xenomorphs. Amidst all these chaos, a lone Engineer wanders around them with his own ruthless agenda.

"Fire and Stone" is a major crossover event from Dark Horse Comics that took place in 2014 that is set on Aliens/Predators/Prometheus shared universe. "Prometheus – Fire and Stone" is a four issue limited series that came as a tie-in story along with three other limited series; Aliens – Fire and Stone, Aliens Vs. Predator – Fire and Stone and Predator – Fire and Stone. Comic-book writer Paul Tobin (Angry Birds, Plants Vs. Zombies) and artist Juan Ferreyra (Green Arrow – The Death and Life of Oliver Queen, New Suicide Squad – Kill Anything) has worked on this mini-series, which is the first one in Prometheus comic-book series, with David Palumbo serving as regular cover artist.

Along Came an Engineer

Like its predecessor series, this one also connects to both Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012) live-action movies from 20th Century Fox. Despite bearing the name flagship of Prometheus, we got to see a satisfying number of Xenomorphs and related creatures, indicating future films may knot a tie among these sub-series. Aside from the core issues, the story is concluded in a one-shot titled "Prometheus – Fire and Stone – Omega" that features the appearance of a lone Predator, Ahab. In a follow-up crossover "Life and Death", he will play a vital role saving the lives of the survivors from an even escalated situation.

After a year-long absence from everyone’s eyes and almost with no activity at all, The Joker; Clown Prince of Crime, resurfaces again in Gotham City. Previously, he willingly allowed Batman to capture him and send him to Arkham Asylum, where he has the Dollmaker cut out the skin off his face and pinning it onto the wall of his cell (Faces of Death).

He appears at the Gotham City police station exact one year later to shock everyone and brutally kills the 19 officers present on duty except Commissioner Jim Gordon, while cracking jokes and collects his ice-preserved face before leaving for his comeback party. Batman is lured to a trap set in Ace Chemicals where he first encountered The Joker, only to find his former lackey and girlfriend Harley Quinn in original Red Hood’s disguise.

Meanwhile, The Joker secretly sneaked into the Wayne Manor and kidnapped Alfred Pennyworth to serve him in his grand scheme and he left clues about his next target Commissioner James Gordon. Soon, The Joker starts taking lives using his old nasty methods methods but this time, he only wants to take out the entire Bat-family, except Batman, so that without any partners, he could be a better and much more worthy opponent for The Joker.

He also slipped a hint of having the knowledge of the secret identity of each vigilante member of the Bat-Family, which has shaken the entire line of Batman's crime fighting aid. He also secretly contacts other villains like Penguin, The Riddler and Two-Face, gathering them all for some sinister purposes that are still unknown.

After narrowly escaping with his life in a fight against a Talon, William Cobb, Batman returns to Wayne Manor barely survived and badly injured like never before. This brutal fight left him battered and bruised all over but what he did not know is that the Court of the Owls was not done with him just yet. As he managed to pin down one of their assassin, now they have raised an army of Talons and sends them all after him. He realized that even after studying and venturing nearly every corner of Gotham, he still not knows it all. When he was having a conversation with Alfred about his recent discovery of the existence of Court of the Owls, a sudden whack on the rooftop alerts them.

Bruce instructs Alfred to take shelter in the cave and help him from there as his eyes and ears, while he fights a few invading Talons that came after him. He pinned the first one to break in the house with ruthless efficiency and then a couple of them more in the rooftop and then he is forced to escape in presence of more Talons who easily outnumbered him. Just then, Alfred informs him over radio that one of the Talons has just entered the Bat-Cave. Bruce rushed to the cave in Alfred’s aid and more Talons arrived to swarm the entire Bat-Cave in minutes. Bruce decides to go out and face them all alone with a little help from a new arsenal. Not only the mystery behind The Court is being unfolded but the century old secret history of the Wayne family is coming out in lights.

As the second storyline of The New 52 in Batman monthly ongoing comic-book series, "City of Owls" is a six part story arc plotted by writer Scott Snyder (American Vampire, The Wake) and James Tynion. This tale was published from DC Comics in 2012, where artist Greg Capullo (Haunt, Spawn) has showed us his wonderful pencil talents. Though taking place in the middle of "Night of the Owls" crossover event, this story describes the details about this new breed of villains in Gotham City and is solely highlighted on The Dark Knight whereas the crossover is meant to focus the entire Bat-Family.
