Red Hood and the Outlaws – Good Night Gotham | Comics

Artemis and Red Hood go out for a date night in Gotham while Bizarro takes the night off to have a drink.

For a while now, Artemis and Red Hood has been teammates and fellow Outlaws even though they got a rocky start. Tonight, they are going on a date to honor a bet Jason Todd lost to her and is baffled by her flattering looks. She asks Bizarro if they can use the Quantum Door for the night and he wishes them farewell for the night.

Lex Luthor was monitoring their recent activities that include an encounter with the Bat-Family and a mission alongside Suicide Squad from the solitude of his penthouse office at LexCorp, thinking over the progress his creation has made so far.

In Gotham, Artemis Grace enjoys a drink with Jason before she suggests that they go somewhere more private and are soon in the Batcave. Even though knowing Bizarro cannot eavesdrop on them, she non-verbally communicates with him about her concerns over the growing power of their friend with a hyper-intelligence.

Since his friends were out for the night, the big guy goes to a bar near the docks after taking a bath in liquid Kryptonite, where he meets a person named Solitary. When he opens his eyes later, he finds both Jason and Red came looking for him.

Later, Red Hood breaks into the Gotham Empire hotel to scare businessman Jakoby Frum out of town to stop a munitions dealing with Penguin. He then joins his teammates for breakfast and then they part away. Red keeps an eye on Biz to found out that he assembled a group of goons by tricking them into believing they are here for a job.

He attempts to poison the entire room but refrains from doing so in the last minute thinking he didn't gave them much choice. In the meantime, Lady Artemis discovers the hidden bath chamber with tanks full of liquid Kryptonite moments before Bizarro arrives. He fails to explain why he kept it a secret and admits he needs help.

She talks him out of his addiction toward the fluid and he drains all the supply he had but he was also regressing slowly. So, Artemis Grace takes it on herself to go and meet his maker about giving him an extended life. Given that he already saved him twice, Lex simply declines to help despite their shared distant past history.

Meanwhile, Jason was on Iceberg Lounge under disguise for some Gotham hold 'em and to annoy Oswald Cobblepot as well. Turns out, he saw through the coy and cornered Red Hood for stealing his money with the Outlaws in a previous run in. Yet, he still manages to escape by sabotaging the power grid at the last minute.

Jason confides in Alfred Pennyworth about his recent endeavors while wondering whether what he is doing is right. Then the granddaughter of Ma Gunn shows up to hand him an envelope containing letters from his deceased father. One of them reveals that Penguin was the one who got him arrested by setting him up.

The backward Superman's mental condition worsens and their secret headquarters floating over Gotham City initiates a self-destruction protocol that Artemis couldn't seem to break into anyhow. Red Hood's vendetta against Penguin for messing up his life will lead him to a path to face an angry and betrayed Batman.

Red Hood & the Outlaws – Good Night Gotham

The Dark Trinity of Artemis, Bizarro and Red Hood returns once again in their fourth storyline of DC Rebirth in "Good Night Gotham" by writer Scott Lobdell (Red Hood and the Outlaws – Bizarro Reborn, Red Hood and the Outlaws – Who is Artemis) and artist Dexter Soy (Batman – Arkham Knight – Genesis, DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe).

Collecting issues #19-25 from the second monthly ongoing volume of Red Hood and the Outlaws published by DC Comics, the story spawned a bunch of new ties that Jason Todd has to find the knot to, because of their direct connection to him.

A lot of his past is revealed where it is shown that his father Willis Todd has worked for villains like Mr. Freeze, The Riddler and Two-Face, before Penguin. A relation to Faye Gunn came out as a shocking surprise that no one expected. Although whether or not Artemis and Bizarro will return is uncertain due to a cliffhanger ending.

Arsenal makes a surprise cameo appearance at the end of the story while Starfire and The Creeper showed up fighting a team of Bane, Cyborg Superman, Gorilla Grodd, Joker, Sinestro and Solomon Grundy in a dream sequence of Bizarro. The best part before the end of the story comes when Red Hood goes up against The Dark Knight.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Bizarro Reborn | Comics

Red Hood and Artemis' strange alien teammate receives an upgrade when he was on the brink of death and turned into something no one ever expected!

While reading a newspaper article covering news of Red Hood and his Outlaws returning to the Gotham, a mysterious individual explains to a person sitting nearby about the reason he was broke out of Arkham Asylum only to terrorize the city and the latter is revealed to be Solomon Grundy, a mindless zombie brute.

Following their latest trip in K'kyesh, Qurac, the Outlaws are declared as international war criminals and they took shelter in Ma Gunn's Home for the Criminally Impaired to treat Bizarro, who is in a critical condition.

When Artemis remarks about the fact that their injured friend should be in a hospital, Faye points out they cannot just go to S.T.A.R. Labs to get a checkup. She tells Jason to stop fetching false hope to Big-B and Ma Gunn tells them to go out with their bickering.

Despite knowing he won't live long, Jason grieves about the uncertain fate of their ally while she tries to comfort him by relating her own struggle of losing her love, Akila (Who Is Artemis). News of Grundy wrecking havoc comes to TV and the two rushes to the spot.

AR hits a rampaging Grundy but thrown out, which leads Jason to take shots at him with no effects. Back home, Bizarro decides to go help his friends upon hearing them getting thrashed in spite of Faye pointing out that he may not survive if he does so.

The brute monster was effortlessly beating the living crap out of them two but as he was about to deliver the killing blow to Red Hood, help came along in form of a Superman-clone. Grundy is taken down and asks them to take care of his doll, Pup Pup before he collapsed.

Unable to cope with Big-B passing, Jason suggests using a Lazarus Pit or something to revive him while Lex Luthor came to rescue his doomed creation and surprisingly, he managed to do the impossible. The big guy only returned as a big-brained genius after Luthor hands him over to Reds.

Next up, they went undercover as employees of Haly's Circus to meet Nightwing and face off USSR terrorist KG Beast together. Artemis and Red Hood then goes fighting a gang of mindless Dollotrons sent by Professor Pyg to rob ruthless crime-lord Penguin but Jason decided to keep it for himself.

The Outlaws sets up an invisible fortress above Gotham City to monitor crime starting with an Arkham Asylum escapee and serial killer Victor Zsasz. Soon, their unusual activity is detected by Gotham Knights at The Belfry and they encounter each other where Azrael, Batwing, Batwoman, Clayface and Orphan came out victorious after some struggle.

They are handed over to Amanda Waller at Belle Reve Penitentiary and agree to go on a mission with Suicide Squad members Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc to stop a ruthless villain named Harvest, leader of N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Bizarro Reborn

With The New 52 coming to an end and DC Rebirth kick-started, the second monthly ongoing series of Red Hood and The Outlaws is doing great after picking up from a new point in "Dark Trinity". By far this arc has apparently featured a maximum number of important characters from various teams and groups of DC Universe.

The third storyline from the series collects issues #12-18 and Annual #01, plotted by writer Scott Lobdell (Alpha Flight, Generation X) with artists Dexter Soy (Batman – Arkham Knight – Genesis, DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe), Joe Bennett (Rann–Thanagar War, Teen Titans) and Tyler Kirkham (Deathstroke – God Killer, Deathstroke – Suicide Run).

When The Outlaws sought help from the recent self-proclaimed Man of Steel, Lex Luthor regarding their big friend, it reminded him of Subject B-0, who sacrificed his life trying to save Luthor from Crime Syndicate during the events of "Forever Evil". So, he worked his way up to save the creature's life by turning him into Bizarro 2.0.

They have a run-in with Gotham Knights and already outnumbered, the trio held themselves off quite well. Then another misadventure with the notorious Task Force X has them butt heads with maniacs like Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc but came out alive.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Who Is Artemis | Comics

Though Red Hood and Bizarro knows very little about Amazon warrior Artemis, they all stands together when her past comes to strike back.

In absence of Gotham City crime-lord Black Mask, Red Hood decides to step up and scare the goons of the former mob-boss away but faced with hostility from them. When they came at him, Bizarro shows up all of a sudden and starts trashing the mobs.

As the flawed Superman clone and ex-Robin was doing the clean-up, Killer Croc of Suicide Squad throws Jason Todd up out of nowhere. Feeling extremely protective about Red Hood, Bizarro freezes his head and punched it off, only to reveal it was a synthezoid.

Jason shares his concern about Bizarro to Artemis, who shows him classified videos at LexCorp that all the Bizarro clones were meant to be destroyed because their unstable nature poses a threat to everyone. For the safe of every other living being, Jason makes up his mind to take care of the matter and visits the Batcave to acquire the means to do that.

To put him out of his misery, Jason takes Bizarro on a trip to a riverside where the latter explains how he sees him and Artemis as his only friends and eventually, his positive perspective convinced Jason of keeping up instead of killing him.

Next up, Red Hood and Artemis walks into a bar looking for a man named Stirk, which created a stir among the patrons and the femme fatale trashed the whole place within moments. She momentarily stunned seeing a glimpse of her old friend Akila but Jason reveals it to be Stirk by knocking him over.

Jason asks her about Akila and Artemis starts telling about her time in the fallen town of Bana-Mighdall, training with her best friend to be the champion of her people. Ages before, one of the Amazon foremothers had a clash with Queen Hippolyta and then they departed from Themyscira as a new pantheon of gods took them in.

Akila was a champion of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall and never wanted to become Shim'tar. One day she vanished without a trace and was found by Artemis, who was sure that her friend has been summoned by the gods. When invaders from Qurac attacked, she picked up the Bow of Ra and in an attempt to save her people, Akila doomed them all.

Artemis reached at the scene too late and found Wonder Woman there to take the threat down. Although she attacked Diana at first but soon they teamed-up to defeat Akila possessed by Ra, killing her and Bow of Ra was lost.

Today, Red Hood, Artemis and Bizarro go to K'kyesh, Qurac seeing news of chaos by unidentified weapon of mass destruction back there. After their plane is shot out off sky, Bizarro got stranded, Jason is captured by the men of Qurac's General Ahmed Heinle and Artemis faces a ghost from the past.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Who Is Artemis

The second monthly ongoing volume of Red Hood and the Outlaws brings the storyline, "Who Is Artemis" from DC Comics in 2017. It all begins from the previous story arc "Dark Trinity" at the dawn of DC Rebirth, where Artemis stumbled onto Jason Todd as she was looking for the missing Bow of Ra and now concluding the plot in "Who Is Artemis".

Collecting issues #07-11, the storyline is composed by veteran comic-book writer Scott Lobdell (Alpha Flight, Generation X), who was aided by artists Dexter Soy (Batman – Arkham Knight – Genesis, DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe), Kenneth Rocafort (Madame Mirage, Velocity) and Mirko Colak.

While characters like Batman, The Joker and Lex Luthor appears throughout the story in holograms or visions, Alfred Pennyworth and Wonder Woman made actual cameo appearance. Since Artemis is now a part of Red Hood's Outlaws, Jason took it upon himself and Bizarro to aid her and thus, the bond of the Outlaws became greater than ever.

The first Bizarro was actually a creature dubbed as Subject B-0 that died saving Luthor from the assault of Crime Syndicate during the events of "Forever Evil". The one that is hanging out with Artemis and Jason is Bizarro II from one of Lex's latter experiments.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Dark Trinity | Comics

Establishing his new status as a villain, Red Hood decides to  take down Gotham's underworld while joined by a fallen Amazon and a faulty Superman clone.

Years before, Jason Todd was a street rat in Crime Alley who was stealing to survive and he was visited by Batman when he was trying to steal tires off the Batmobile. Never really found his comfort zone by working as Robin alongside The Dark Knight, Jason Todd eventually became an outlaw named Red Hood after he came back from dead.

While recalling these past events from his life, Jason came in his motorbike and shot the mayor on street before being confronted by his former mentor. These two fought a very brief yet intense battle and Red Hood then cheated his way out of the fight early on.

As he was having a drink in a bad-guy bar and got lost in thoughts from old days, a member of Black Mask's False Face Society approaches him to inform about their boss's invitation to join his cause. Jason then came saving life of a woman named Ma Gunn, whom he and Batman used to know from years before.

He stopped her from running criminal activities behind the cover of a Boarding School for Wayward Boys, which she used to run. Ma Gunn believes that it surely was Black Mask who gave the order to kill her for not joining in his recent mad schemes.

After catching up on old times, Jason learns from her that her place was about to open weeks ago and that means, the villain had planned for a mass-murder when he blew up her house. Still not giving in to his rage because of his promise to Batman, Red Hood decides to face crime-boss Black Mask about his offer.

The way he made an entrance by shooting at his guys and broke into his personal convoy impressed the villain. He actually opens up to him about his intention being different for Gotham City from the likes of Bane, Catwoman, The Joker, Killer Croc or The Penguin.

Jason has become a discussing topic among the bad guys of Gotham City these days for showing his raw boldness by publicly attempting an assassination on Mayor and a clash with The Dark Knight. All of these were what made the villain appreciate his raw talent and even offered Red Hood to be his heir since he has no kids of his own.

Before moving towards their next objective on expanding operation in Gotham City, Black Mask made an example out of his henchmen, who failed to kill Ma Gunn by blowing up their heads with pre-installed neuro-implants in front of Jason.

In order to secure a cargo for his new boss, Jason encounters fierce warrior Artemis of Amazons, who was here looking for an ancient artifact known as Bow of Ra, a weapon of immense power she has always longed for. After their initial encounter, she deduces that Jason is definitely onto something.

Also, Black Mask is not really after the artifact as these two have previously thought but he was eyeing for a more threatening specimen. It was Bizarro, a failed clone of Superman created by former villain Lex Luthor that he wants for his own. In quest of figuring out Black Mask's real plan, Jason feels lost in the midst of Artemis and Bizarro.

Red Hood and the Outlaws – Dark Trinity

With first monthly series of Red Hood & the Outlaws debuting back on 2011, just as The New 52 wave started taking over DC Universe, the team comprised of anti-heroes and outlaws have changed their line-up recently. When Starfire left this trio, Red Hood and Arsenal quickly formed a new duo of bad-asses but that too has lived for a brief time.

It has come to an end because of circumstances and both of their conflicting nature to each other. However, we are in for an entirely different and all-new alliance up ahead of us where Jason Todd bands together with a fallen Amazon warrior Artemis and one of the many imperfect Superman clones; Bizarro.

A Rampaging Bizarro

So, with DC Rebirth launching a new wave of change, comic-book writer Scott Lobdell (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Darkness) and artist Dexter Soy (Army of Two, Batman – Arkham Knight – Genesis) has band together to came up with some great alliance of beloved outlaws which they brought up in "Dark Trinity" storyline.

With issues #01-06 of second monthly ongoing volume of Red Hood & the Outlaws and the one-shot "Rebirth" issue, this storyline is a fresh-start for Jason Todd and his new allies in crime. Each three of them are given a fair share of flashbacks at how they ended up together for a same goal, which serves as an origin for the new incarnation of Outlaws.

Followed up by previous story "Public Enemies" from the first monthly ongoing Superman/Batman series of DC Comics, "Supergirl from Krypton" is the second storyline which ran through issue #08-13. This plot is devised by writer Jeph Loeb (Batman – Dark Victory, Catwoman – When in Rome) and interiors were done by artist Michael Turner (Soulfire, Witchblade). This is the only story arc where Turner did the illustrations other than TopCow or Aspen MLT. This tale was dedicated to the famous actor Christopher Reeve, who portrayed Man of Steel in several movies, died that year at the ending of this story. Later this story was adopted to make a direct-to-video from DC Universe Animated Original Movie line titled, Superman/Batman – Apocalypse (2010).
