Siege – Dark Avengers | Comics

Norman Osborn is trying to keep his Dark Avengers together from falling apart and succumbing to his Green Goblin persona.

Shortly after being agreed to work with Norman Osborn and joining his Dark Avengers, Noh-Varr was enlightened by Ms. Marvel that these are just criminals and madmen he has surrounded himself with before leaving. Confused and looking for guidance, he built a device to communicate with Kree Empire and roaming in disguise.

Curious to learn more about human behavior, he approaches a girl on street named Annie and starts talking but is soon interrupted by arrival of The Sentry, who is sent here by Osborn. They two collide and Marvel Boy seems to have a tough time dealing with the Golden Guardian but he eventually manages to escape with help from Annie.

He later establishes contact with Kree Supreme Intelligence and is told to become a savior of Earth. He then received a new costume with a set of improved Nega-Bands and dubbed as Protector. When a search party came looking for him, they couldn't sniff him out in any way and Noh-Varr came to secretly meet Annie in an alley.

Back in Avengers Tower, Ms. Marvel saw Sentry arriving while everyone was having a breakfast. In his watchtower, Bob arrives to find his wife Lindy already pointing an alien gun at him and got his head blown off completely. He regenerates back to life right away as Void takes over his body and quickly prevents her from taking her own life.

Robert assumes control over him in time to stop him from doing so while trying to remind their deal of not touching her. Bob tries to hurl himself into sun itself but his body regenerates again and Void takes control. He returns to Earth, hovering over city of Manhattan spreading his dark tendrils all over and causing massive destruction.

Fearing Norman to slip into his Green Goblin persona, his secretary Victoria Hand tries to convince him to see a psychotherapist. She goes to handle a lewd situation regarding Bullseye and Moonstone next when they all see an unearthly darkness slowly engulfing the sky and buildings of New York starts getting wrecked by it.

Suiting up promptly, Osborn tries to reason with Bob pointing out that if he keeps throwing tantrums like this, people who are capable of neutralizing him would surely come after him. Sentry then dials down his temper and Norman sees a terrified Lindy Reynolds looking at them from Watchtower, deducing her to have caused this.

Later that night, he goes to see Lester in his room and tasks him to take care of her in time of his choosing. After one of Cabal's secret meetings goes wrong when Doctor Doom is threatened by Osborn and blasted off by Void. He then unleashes a locust swarm upon them and everyone in Avengers Tower is instructed to evacuate quickly.

Victoria Hand was seeing to lead everyone out while Bullseye managed to fly Lindy on a copter and complete his task. By the time he arrived back, Bob has dealt with Doom by then and asks where his wife was. Hearing that she has committed suicide by jumping off to sea because of being scared of him, Robert immediately flips again.

It took all of Ares and Iron Patriot just to keep him away from Hawkeye before Sentry decides to go over and find her. Victoria sees Bullseye giving a subtle nod to her boss on his way out, which gives her a clear idea of what has just happened.

To wrap up Dark Avengers series from Marvel Comics, writer Brian Michael Bendis (Mighty Avengers – Secret Invasion, Mighty Avengers – The Ultron Initiative) teams up with artist Mike Deodato Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man – New Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man – Sins Past) to work on its final storyline and tie-in for "Siege" crossover event.

This one marks final arc for the comic-book monthly ongoing following "Dark Reign" crossover from earlier and reflects on many recent events the team has faced so far, including their disbandment. It served as a tie-in plot premise to titular event in 2011, collecting issues #13-16 and first issue of Dark Avengers Annual from the series.

Final Fate of Sentry

A long kept and not-so heroic secret about true origin of Sentry from his clouded past is finally revealed by his beloved wife Lindy. Majority of final arc is focused on him and his gradually worsening fractured psyche that keeps losing grip over reality. It ultimately became a huge problem during siege of Asgard and lead to serious causality.

Osborn's fall from power also reinstated old team of New Avengers out of hiding now that Steve Rogers is running things. Though many of Dark Avengers members are apprehended by law enforcement, Daken has managed to sneak away. A brand-new direction for heroes and villains of Marvel starts from here to an unforeseen future.

Dark Avengers – Molecule Man | Comics

Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers go up against Molecule Man without knowing what they are up against.

A huge change in status quo took place when Norman Osborn replaced Tony Stark as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. following "Secret Invasion". He has assembled a group of deranged psychos like Bullseye, Daken and Mac Gargan as well as reformed criminal Moonstone to join his new team of Dark Avengers alongside Ares and The Sentry.

Although Osborn is fashioning himself as Iron Patriot these days, he can't be trusted due to his history of mental issues and therefore, former top cop of the world Nick Fury has recently gone underground to form his own group of Secret Warriors that includes young heroes like Alex Aaron AKA Phobos, God of Fear and son of Ares.

When his father goes out, Daisy Johnson came to pick him up but none of them realized that Ares was following them. Their trail leads him to a barber shop, where he found Fury and his new recruits in a safehouse. Knowing that his son has chosen to be trained with Fury, he leaves and Nick orders everyone to abandon base urgently.

In Dinosaur, Colorado, two girls comes to a small diner and is asked to leave by few patrons. One of them goes to restroom and calls her boyfriend and notices the mirror on wall starts melting when she touched it. She freaked out screaming only for everyone else to turn into stone and their car outside wore into nothingness.

Turn out, one of those girls was daughter to secretary of state and he called Osborn for a personal favor to find her. His secretary Victoria Hand points out that many have recently disappeared from there. Norman initially sends The Sentry out to Colorado for investigation but he soon is overwhelmed by unknown energy and blew up.

This immediately prompts Osborn to rally up his Dark Avengers team and H.A.M.M.E.R. crews to scene but he sent Venom back due to his unstable condition. Landing there, they all get vanished and Osborn finds himself before Owen Reese AKA Molecule Man, who is surrounded by Beyonder, The Enchantress, Mephisto and Zarathos.

However, it becomes very clear that no one else other than him and Norman are real around them. Reese states his will to be left alone in this town and have no intention of killing him because, then Reed Richards will show up to somehow stop him for good but forced Osborn to go through nightmares when he objects to that idea.

The Sentry materializes once again only to be torn apart, Venom turns into puddle of goo and Hawkeye into water, Ms. Marvel turned into stone, Wolverine gets trapped in vegetation and Ares is frozen. Seeing this situation getting out of hand, deputy director of H.A.M.M.E.R., Victoria Hand decides to declare full surrender to Reese.

As she approaches, Owen strips off her uniform to see if she is armed and she appeals to him that he restores everyone that got vanished. He then took her to the dimension where he kept Osborn trapped in his own psyche. He sees himself in Spider-Man costume right next to a pregnant Gwen Stacy over George Washington Bridge.

Norman changes into his Green Goblin persona, seeing everyone around him is just waiting for him to make a mess and fall badly. Then he sacredly look at a trio of monstrous versions of Ares, Iron Man and Spider-Man. Sentry gets pissed off for being repeatedly torn apart after some time and managed to violently burst through Owen.

In continuation to "Dark Reign" crossover event, writer Brian Michael Bendis (Mighty Avengers – Secret Invasion, Mighty Avengers – The Ultron Initiative) and artist Mike Deodato Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man – New Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man – Sins Past) returns for second storyline of Dark Avengers monthly ongoing from Marvel Comics.

"Molecule Man" story collects issues #09-12 of titular comic-book series and primarily focuses on a powerful old-school Fantastic Four villain. Having a history of a deteriorating mental state in past, Owen Reece comes to his hometown and starts vanishing anyone who come across that area until he did that to the daughter of a US Senator.

At Mercy of Molecule Man

This has forced Osborn to arrive in Colorado for investigation with his newly assembled team of Avengers but they all either ended up being disintegrated or trapped. It took some convincing from his second-in-command Victoria Hand to cease Owen from attacking them but finally, it was the anger he caused to Sentry has made him retreat.

Robert Reynolds discovers new facts about his powers and Ares learns that his son is training under Nick Fury. Daken, Lester and Mac Gargan mostly served as background characters while Man-Thing showed up for a brief cameo. More of their misadventures will be explored in upcoming story "Siege", which would serve as a tie-in.

Dark Reign – The Sinister Spider-Man
 | Comics
Previously known as the second-string villain Scorpion, Mac Gargan, have bonded with the alien symbiote Klyntar and became the third host, and the second Venom. Now on the Dark Reign period, he took the place of Spider-Man in Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers as Sinister Spider-Man. With the traditional super heroes out of the scene, Gargan is perhaps having the best time of life as people sees him as a celebrated hero and they also thinks him to be the actual Spider-Man. Though Osborn has a positive image of him and his team to maintain, Gargan goes out to play hero when he met another second string villain General Wolfram robbing a bank. He stops Wolfram with almost no effort at all, to impress by standing girls to take out and steals the money of loot from Wolfram after chewing his hand off for no apparent good reason.

He then goes to a stripper club to spend the loot, where he found a stripper to fall for named Cherri and then calling her Candy, Gargan took her with him to the Avengers Tower. But upon having a conversation about his reckless behavior with Osborn, he kills the stripper later and set her body to the apartment of J. Jonah Jameson; Mayor of New York City, to frame him. As Jonah approached Osborn regarding the matter, Gargan is sent to help him up. Meanwhile, a group called “The Redeemers” visits Wolfram to join them along with The Redeemer, Hippo, Doctor Everything, Dementoid and Eleven; villains who formerly lost limbs to the Sinister Spider-Man and wants revenge on him.

In 2009, writer Brian Reed (New Avengers – Illuminati, Spider-Woman – Origin) and artist Chris Bachalo (Captain America – Homeland, New X-Men – Assault on Weapon Plus) teams up to bring up the tie-in story of Dark Reign event, titled "Dark Reign – The Sinister Spider-Man" published by Marvel Comics. Dark Avengers – Assemble | Comics

Norman Osborn now controls a powerful super-hero team as his "Dark Avengers" to do some good or serve his twisted version?

In a surprising turn of events, Norman Osborn ended up saving Earth during peak of a full-scale "Skrull Invasion" by killing their Queen. Tony Stark is removed from his position as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and replaced by Osborn. He made a pact with a secretly formed group called Cabal that has divisive figures like Doctor Doom as its members.

He hired former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Victoria Hand to help him establish his new organization H.A.M.M.E.R. before firing Maria Hill. Bullseye is called in shortly afterwards to fly with him to New York, Avengers Tower. Norman asks New Avengers member Carol Danvers to join his new team but she straight out refuses and fled off.

He approached Karla Sofen AKA Moonstone at Thunderbolts Mountain to become Ms. Marvel for him. Next up, Osborn goes to see Mac Gargan with a medication that would contain his monstrous form into more presentable state. He then recruited Daken Akihiro from a diner at New Orleans where he came looking for a job.

Norman convinced Kree warrior Noh-Varr at The Cube into joining his cause as Captain Marvel. His next employ is Ghost to unlock a secret stash of armored suits that once belonged to Tony Stark. He builds a suit of armor similar to Captain America's costume for himself called "Iron Patriot" and then went to public with his all-new Avengers.

Dark Avengers – Assemble | Comics

Dark sorceress Morgana le Fay has been looking all over for Victor von Doom after he betrayed him earlier. When Doom was being escorted back to Latveria by Osborn's men, she attacked them with an army of demons at her side. Report of this attack is received by Osborn and he led his new team of Avengers for their very first mission.

He orders The Sentry to go all-out and he does so by simply tearing her head off, which shocked his teammates. Morgana reappears in a moment, causing Sentry to suddenly explode and she confronted Ares by forcing Venom to violently attack him. She then turned God of War into stone right before being killed again by new Hawkeye.

Though unable to move in his armor, Doom responds to Norman as he proceeds to carry his ally out of battlefield. Despite his unwillingness to share, he eventually shares his armor interface with Osborn to access his time machine. Together, they go back to Morgana's time and Victor sent her to 1,000,000 BC using a spell unknown even to her.

Going back to present time, Doom revives Ares from his state with a reverse spell but Sentry is presumed dead. On their way back to New York, Victoria Hand informs her boss about Clint Barton going on media to expose him as former Green Goblin. To which, he tells her to arrange an interview with the network to nicely sort things out.

All of a sudden, a blinding flash of light hits them all and they all astoundingly look at a very-much alive Sentry coming to them. Norman approaches and asks him about how he is feeling now since they all saw him die in Latveria. Trying to resonate with Bob and calm him down by talking to him, Osborn even removes his helmet to talk.

Later that day, an Atlantean terrorist group leads an attack in Los Angeles and members of Cabal were called to meet up. Prince Namor is asked to denounce those extremists publicly and help Ozman to capture them. They had a disagreement on how to approach this situation and it causes a troubled side of Osborn's persona to slip.

X-23 | Comics

Unlike any children, she was born as a clone in an attempt of a top-secret facility to re-create Weapon X program that gave birth to Wolverine. Doctor Sarah Kinney proposed for a female clone when the other twenty two died in the Adamantium bonding process and then act as her surrogate mother to preserve even a small fraction of humanity in her but all her efforts go in vein by the intervention of Doctor Zander Rice.

X-23 | Comics

He set up Kinney to be killed by X-23 with a "trigger scent" and in her dying breath she named the clone “Laura”. She became a weapon, killed many folks, escaped The Facility and then goes to seek out Wolverine. Then Captain America and Matt Murdock comes to take her in but eventually sets her free to avoid S.H.I.E.L.D.'s exploitation of her.

She ended up on streets living as a prostitute but then welcomed by the X-Men in Xavier Institute. When New X-Men was formed, she joined the team with Elixr, Hellion, Mercury, Prodigy, Rockslide and Surge. She teamed-up with Spider-Man, became Captain Universe for a while, helped destroy cyborg Nimrod, bested her handler Kimura several times, defeated Lady Deathstrike during Messiah CompleX.

Then she enrolled to the X-Force team, fought the Hulk, made an uneasy alliance with Daken against Mr. Sinister, aided the Future Foundation and finally became a part of Avengers Academy. She also formed the “Circle of Four” with Ghost Rider, Red Hulk and Venom against Blackheart. Following the “Death of Wolverine” she took the mantle of her mentor to honor his memory.

Originally created by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost for a TV series, prior to her debut in comics in 2004, X-23 is a fictional Marvel Comics character who is a clone of another popular protagonist; Wolverine. X-23 was a part of many X-Men based crossover and stories like Innocence Lost, Target X, The Killing Dream, NYX, Decimation, Mercury Falling, World War HulkQuest for Magik, League of Losers, Messiah War and Second Coming.

Her Father's Legacy

She was one of the Wolverines just like Daken, Lady Deathstrike, Mystique and Sabretooth. Although she is a clone of Wolverine, it is shown in the 2005 limited series X-Men – Age of Apocalypse while further exploring the alternate reality of Age of Apocalypse that she is actually the daughter of Wolverine and Jean Grey of that timeline.

Aside from her many notable comic-book appearance, X-23 also appeared on two animated series X-Men – Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men on TV. The character would also appear in the upcoming 2017 film Logan in her very first live-action appearance, portrayed by Dafne Keen. But since her role is only titled “Laura” and not “X-23”, it is still unclear what part she will end up playing.
