Venom – Absolute Carnage | Comics

Cletus Kasady is back from dead to unleash "Absolute Carnage", with Venom is caught between saving his son and stopping him.

Fighting against mystical beings during "War of the Realms" lately, Eddie Brock got separated from his Venom symbiote and is free now. He wonders whether he was turned into a monster by his other or his symbiote became evil due to his influence. He checks on his son Dylan Brock to realize that the boy has a fever and needs to be taken care of.

Having violent hallucinations of Klyntar in his head, Brock shows up at Daily Globe to meet their editor-in-chief, Clark. Though he is grateful to Eddie for his time here as an intern, he can't hire him because of past criminal records. However, he asks Brock if he can solve a case of missing kids without killing anyone, only then can they discuss about a job.

Using his old investigative journalist skills, Brock goes to a stash house in New York's seedy underbelly to see if they know anything about missing kids. Seeing no guards and blood on door handle, Eddie becomes very cautions and his inner Venom kicks in. Acting reckless, he notices a pile of cash and dead gang members on floor, all soaked in blood.

Soon as he gets hit by a baseball bat, Brock came to his senses and brutally fought back a group of people with black eyes and crimson spirals. Beating them, he hears children screaming and steps into next room to find out Emill Gregg AKA Sin-Eater is apparently back from dead and standing on a sigil of blood, resurrected by Knull, God of symbiotes.

He reveals that his long-time enemy Cletus Kasady AKA Carnage is also resurrected by a cult of Knull called Church of the New Darkness and bonded with Grendel symbiote. Eddie beats down Sin-Eater to a pulp before returning to Daily Globe, fully covered in blood upon rescuing all thirteen missing children to get some cash to take care of his son.

Kasady starts hunting down every former symbiote hosts; Brock tries to get away from New York City his son Dylan. Venom symbiote follows him to subway and bonds with him again to save him from Dark Carnage. Narrowly escaping its grip, he reluctantly seeks help from Spider-Man and plans to non-lethally extract codices from all past hosts.

To test codex-extraction machine of The Maker, Reed Richards from an alternate universe, they plan on getting Norman Osborn out of Ravencroft Institute, leaving Dylan Brock and Normie Osborn with him at Rex Strickland's warehouse. With no hope of getting out alive, both Spidey and Venom gets viciously swarmed by minions of Dark Carnage.

When his machine is finished, The Maker insists on Normie to test it out but Dylan refuses to let him do so. As they were arguing, a proximity alarm goes off and Life Foundation symbiotes Agony, Lasher, Phage and Riot breaks in. They were sent here by Carnage to claim Normie Osborn's codex but The Maker holds them off with his techs.

Dylan and Normie takes shelter at the armory but Phage comes after them regardless only to get its neck snapped by Sleeper, most recent seventh spawn of Venom symbiote. Shortly after introducing himself to Dylan, he gets blasted off with a sonic wave from Maker and he proceeds to put it in a canister along with other Life Foundation symbiotes.

Dylan makes a plan to escape realizing that Maker will forcibly use his machine on Normie and freed Agony, Lasher, Phage and Riot to distract him. Before he could activate anti-symbiote defenses, they all bonds to him and turned him into Hybrid. Chasing after those kids, he came across Captain America, Spider-Man, Thing and Wolverine.

Venom – Absolute Carnage

A chain of wicked events started when Eddie Brock learned about Knull, God of symbiotes and they all eventually lead to a tie-in for 2020 Marvel Comics crossover "Absolute Carnage", plotted by writer Donny Cates (Doctor Strange – Damnation, Thanos – Thanos Wins), collecting issues #16-20 from fourth ongoing Venom comic-book series.

Cates was assisted by artists Iban Coello (Deadpool & The Mercs For Money – Mo' Mercs, Mo' Monkeys, Justice League Beyond 2.0 – Power Struggle) and Juan Gedeon throughout the story while Kyle Hotz provided cover arts. Aided by many big-name Marvel superheroes, Venom pushes a rebellion against a dark force that he can't defeat.

Old Man Logan – Days of Anger | Comics

Not to let a nightmarish history repeat itself, Logan takes matters into his own hands to butt heads with a new Hulk Gang!

In his own timeline, Old Man Logan had a pretty messed up life more than any of his other counterparts. He killed off all the X-Men at X-Mansion under the illusion created by super-villain Mysterio during the night of villains uprising.

Long after, he finally settled down with a family of his own but the hillbilly Hulk Gang of an elderly Bruce Banner took that away from him too, causing him to unsheathe his claws once again against Pappy Banner and killing The Hulk for good (Wolverine – Old Man Logan). Then "Secret Wars" broke it all apart and he ended up in the Wastelands of the Battleworld.

As Multiverse was restored, he found himself in a reality that isn't messed up like the one he knew yet. Here he found himself among his friends that aren't still butchered by his hands and got a new chance at life.

Today, Logan goes to Fat Joe's Diner like he usually does once in a while to take a break from work. Sooner as he entered there, he smelled something fishy and realized soon that he has walked straight into a trap set by a few remaining members of former Hulk Gang of now-deceased Pappy Banner.

Old Man Logan – Days of Anger | Comics

Although he clearly remembers sparing none other than Bruce Banner Jr. and Billy-Bob, apparently there are a couple more of them and they started to rain down on Logan without wasting a single moment. Back at this old routine, he mercilessly takes down all of them but Billy-Bob still got away.

He landed on an abandoned Department H facility in Canada and reported back to their current leader, who turns out to be an elder Bruce Banner from a future alternate reality known as The Maestro (Future Imperfect).

To compromise the cover of their existence, Maestro berates and beats Billy-Bob before being stopped by Cambria. Maestro and the remaining Hulk Gang members rushed out of the place and took over another after killing all the occupant humans.

Even though the facility was left clean, Logan traced it back and upon reaching there, he deduced that the Hulks are up to something that involves nuclear weaponries. So, he hit the road again in search for them and called his old friend Puck from Alpha Flight to look up.

Knowing how dangerous Logan really is, Maestro sends a few Hulks with Billy-Bob to find him and gun him down as soon as they do. They found him on his way on road and smoked him down with all they had.

Logan discovers himself shackled with chains when he regained consciousness and got gunned down once again. Now, not only he has to survive the gun-toting Hulk Gang, he needs to find out their plans with those nuclear weapons and need someone to help; probably his former ally Hawkeye.

Old Man Logan – Days of Anger

Taking place on the second monthly ongoing series of Old Man Logan, "Days of Anger" is a six-part storyline that came out in 2017. It collects issues #25-30 from same series by Marvel Comics, who hired writer Ed Brisson (Secret Avengers, Secret Wars – Battleworld) for plotting out this entire arc along with fan-favorite artist Mike Deodato Jr. (Guardians of Knowhere, Original Sin), who also provided cover arts for all involving issues.

Logan Vs. The Hulk Gang!

Brisson actually plays with classic idea of a "Hulk Vs. Wolverine" showdown here in "Days of Anger", which always wins an audience over. Only this time, both Hulk and Wolverine of Prime Marvel Universe is dead. So, he worked his plan out by picking two alternate versions of these popular characters from two different realities and bringing them on same place, at the same time but for different reasons to face each other.

All of it played out really well and it really worked out pretty nicely. We eventually got an epic battle between the elder versions of feral mutant and the green raging monster. Special guest appearance was made by Alpha Flight member Puck and long-time Avenger member Hawkeye to advance further with the plot.

Secret Empire | Comics

Captain America turned out to be a true believer of Hydra ideals and siege control from within as he planned out!

Running S.H.I.E.L.D. these days, Captain America sends Captain Marvel leading Alpha Flight alongside Guardians of the Galaxy on space to hold a line of defense when a huge Chitauri Wave shows up. From Helicarrier bridge, Steve sends Ironheart and Iron Man to work up a Planetary Defense Shield that was taken down earlier by a Hydra bomber.

In the mean time, a group of super-villain attacks New York who was all former prisoners of Pleasant Hill and The Defenders were sent to take care of them. Hyperion and Quasar goes down while Nitro explodes in the middle of Manhattan. Announcing a state of emergency, Secretary of Defense made Steve Rogers command of national security.

The Shield suddenly goes back operational and cavalry arrive at New York as Avengers Unity Division, causing the villains flee. Before they could celebrate this victory, Commander Sharon Carter receives transmission of a collision with another Helicarrier and within moments they are under attack by Hydra goons under control of Doctor Faustus.

Cap then steps up telling everyone to hold their fire and the Hydra agents hail him as their Supreme Leader before taking Sharon into custody, who is baffled to learn that Steve was a traitor. Carol tries to communicate about opening a portal to Earth but Rogers made it clear that he want them occupied behind the shield with Chitauri waves.

Before being ambushed, Tony Stark A.I. eventually figured out the Chitauri invasion was a ploy to lure out the heavy hitters off Earth and the shield was never down. As Baron Zemo engulfs the island of Manhattan in a Darkforce dome using Blackout's powers, Iron Man sends out a distress call for heroes to assemble and Hydra takes over White House.

In a new world order established by the evil empire, Inhumans are being forced to register and all mutants moved to New Tian. From his internment, Rick Jones passes a data to reveal the truth about Hydra Cap through a young hacker named Rayshaun Lucas to Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Totally Awesome Hulk and Viv Vision of the Champions.

Resistance against the regime is formed by Ant-Man, Black Widow, Giant-Man, Hawkeye, Hercules, Quicksilver, Rescue, Stingray, Thing, Tigra and Wonder Man. Cap has been leading a Hydra' version of The Avengers with Black Ant, Deadpool, Odinson, Scarlet Witch, Superior Octopus, Taskmaster and Vision to ruthlessly deal with any threats.

Neither Rick, nor Sharon agrees to swear loyalty to Hydra and when Rick is sentenced to death by a firing squad to make a statement, he dies saying "Avengers Assemble". Meanwhile, Steve reunites with Madame Hydra to acquire the Cosmic Cube and rewrite history of World War II. They then raze the entire city of Las Vegas with their Helicarriers.

Upon analyzing info sent by Rick, Tony came to conclusion on how the sentient Cosmic Cube named Kobik has altered Cap while saving him during "Standoff" fiasco after she was befriended with Johann Shmidt AKA Red Skull. Steve became a perfect soldier to Hydra, who then overthrew Shmidt to complete his own plan to rule the world.

So, he tried for Winter Soldier to join Hydra and his refusal led Zemo to launch a drone plane with Bucky in it. Kobik was shattered into fragments that got scattered in places and finding all of the pieces is the only way to turn things around as they once were. Cap is also actively looking for the Cube to reshape reality as he see fit in Hydra's image.

Natasha Romanoff takes it upon herself to kill off the evil Cap and the Champions tagged along to her help. Ant-Man, Hercules, Mockingbird and Quicksilver volunteered to go and retrieve all the Cube fragments with Tony and Falcon agreed to help them cross the border. However, he ended up taking his old mantle of Captain America once again.

Things started escalating as they show up at the doorstep of Ultron, now wearing the skin of Henry Pym. In the mean time, Hydra Cap struck treaty with enlists The Punisher as his enforcer and brings back The Incredible Hulk back from dead. All of these led to a grand showdown when the X-Men showed up right before an unexpected revelation.

In 2017, Marvel Comics hired writer Nick Spencer (Ant-Man – Second-Chance Man, Doctor Strange – Damnation) and illustrator Daniel Acuna (Uncanny Avengers – Avenge The Earth, Uncanny Avengers – Counter-Evolutionary) to conceive the plot for "Secret Empire" crossover event, which is collected in a limited series that ran for eleven issues.

Then there were a group of artists David Marquez (Defenders – Diamonds Are Forever, Defenders – Kingpins of New York), Leinil Francis Yu (Operation – Zero Tolerance, X-Men – The Hunt for Xavier), Paco Medina (New X-Men – Mercury Falling, New X-Men – Nimrod) and Steve McNiven (Civil War, Death of Wolverine) to fill in for some extra.

Hydra Supreme Leader

Pages that are drawn by artist Andrea Sorrentino were the literal down point of the entire story as some of the characters were completely unrecognizable from their appearance. Artist Rod Reis on the other hand, did quite fine compared to the former.

Following the events of "Time Runs Out" and "Secret Wars", everything was restored and Steve Rogers came back to existence alongside many others. When trying to save his life after an attack from Crossbones, sentient Cosmic Cube Kobik actually created a new version of Captain America that was loyal to Hydra and the real one became a memory.

Turning Captain America into a fascist and altering reality to let Hydra assume control was a bold move by Marvel though, or maybe rather stupid one. Bringing Hank Pym/Ultron hybrid into the mix as well as the deceased Green Goliath was unnecessary. Turning Frank Castle into an agent of the uprising evil empire was also really uncalled for.

She-Hulk bravely sacrificed herself to let Luke Cage escape with this insight, who informed the heroes about the discovery. When all the gathering heroes travel to the future timeline to encounter Ultron for one last time, Wolverine decides to go back in time to kill Dr. Pym to end up this mess at the first place. What he did not knew then is that the Invisible Woman has secretly traveled in time with him, following Logan. But what change Wolverine’s actions will bring upon the existing regular timeline and what chaos will the universe undergo for a bunch of change in the space time continuum remains a question.
