Amazing Spider-Man – Red Goblin | Comics

One of Spider-Man's greatest enemies meets with another to form an unholy bond and get back at him by threatening everyone close to him.

Due to previous unfortunate events, Peter Parker had to ruin Parker Industries and everything it was built on in order to prevent Doctor Octopus or Hydra from misusing any of it. Currently, he is crashing at the couch of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird when he is not fighting crime.

Aside from that, his adventure as Spider-Man continues and he managed to get a job as Daily Bugle's science section editor. By this time, two mercenaries breach at underwater containment facility called Lock Box to secure a package and releases an artifact known as Zodiac Key.

A year ago, on the same day, Spidey had thrown out the villainous Scorpio into Zodiac Dimension for a year after he gained a year worth of prior knowledge of future. On the same day, Lock Box is breached and he got out while gaining the key as well.

He is eventually taken down and he warns before going to prison that something is coming for the Wall-Crawler, which he brushes off. Elsewhere, those mercenaries arrive to their employer with the package, which turned out to be the Carnage symbiote and the boss being Norman Osborn.

Then he would be called upon to by the current Sorcerer Supreme, Loki in absence of Doctor Strange. Years ago, he owed Spidey a favor and he just wanted to return it now but after a brief adventure together, the latter used it in most unexpected way Laufeyson could ever think of.

Meanwhile, Osborn unleashed the symbiote after repeatedly failing to restore his madness by mystical, psychological or surgical ways. It tries to take over but he offered to teach it becoming more sadistic starting with killing two of his own henchmen.

Carnage is intrigued by Osborn's method of torturing and wanted more but Norman agrees to that for being in full control. Not only does it repair his facial appearance, the symbiote ejected all nanites from his body that was stopping him from becoming Green Goblin.

Alchemax C.E.O. Liz Allan asks Flash Thompson to be present as Agent Anti-Venom during one of their upcoming presentation. There, Phil Urich showed up as Goblin King with his minions, which results in a fight and Peter ended up hitting the jackpot with Mary Jane Watson after the fight.

Peter and Mary Jane were at her apartment passionately making out and reminiscing about their past times together but then remember about their reason for splitting up seeing his costume underneath. Liz asks Flash again to try and retrieve the exploding metal tritium from Goblin King.

In one of his abandoned his gentleman's club, Osborn was talking to someone about Spider-Man whom he abducted and had blindfolded. Hearing some noise downstairs, he goes to check and confronts Phil, who he kills by ripping his heart out when Goblin King attacked him with a flame sword.

Norman came back monologuing to his prisoner explaining how he is going to deal with the Wall-Crawler but his hostage pointed out how Green Goblin has failed over and over in past only to fail each time and accidentally spills a hint.

With that, he managed to deduce the secret identity of the hero and his captive is revealed to be none other than J. Jonah Jameson. He then raids into Daily Bugle looking for the Web-Head and these two gets into a fight. GG threatened everyone with tritium explosives and Spidey managed to contain the blast.

Osborn got impaled on a girder and faking his dying state, he calls Parker near to thank him. Then he turned into a goblin/symbiote hybrid called Red Goblin. With his newfound power, Carnage/Goblin proves to overwhelming for Spider-Man alone.

He offers to leave him alone if he gives up being hero or kill each and everyone he loves. Even with help from his friends Anti-Venom, Clash, Human Torch, Miles Morales and Silk, Pete didn't stand a chance.

Amazing Spider-Man – Red Goblin

Despite Spider-Man having an impressive Rogue's Gallery, his villains can get a bit repetitive over times. In 2018, Marvel Comics hired writer Christos Gage (Civil War – House of M, House of M – Avengers) and Dan Slott (She-Hulk, Silver Surfer) to solve that problem in "Red Goblin" storyline.

Artists Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, New Avengers – Illuminati), Giuseppe Camuncoli (Darth Vader – Imperial Machine, Darth Vader – Legacy's End) and Stuart Immonen (Fear Itself, Inferno) delivered illustrations for issues # 794-801 of Amazing Spider-Man monthly ongoing series.

Green Goblin has been a terrible menace who terrorized Peter Parker on personal level and in his super-heroism. Carnage is another psychopath who is nearly as ruthless but a lot more chaotic. When two of these terrible personas merges and creates a new one, it surely is a live horror show. With a slow build-up, the plot eventually delivers more twists and turns than readers have probably bargained for.

Throughout the arc, references of the events from One More Day, Secret Empire and The Clone Conspiracy were made. Apparently, it took place between "Hunt For Wolverine" and "Return of Wolverine" crossover events and Wolverine even showed up in a cameo in the first issue of the story.

Astonishing X-Men – Life of X | Comics

When world's most powerful telepaths are attacked by an unforeseen enemy, the X-Men enter astral plane to confront it.

Mutants around the world with psychic abilities are suddenly being attacked and they starts dying but just because most of them secluded themselves from the rest, these deaths gone unnoticed at the very beginning.

When it attacked Betsy Braddock AKA Psylocke when she was in London, she sent out a distress psychic call to fellow mutants that reached out to Angel, Bishop, Gambit, Fantomex, Old Man Logan and Rogue who were coincidentally in close range for various different reasons of their own. Betsy's psychic manifestation took shape of a giant butterfly over The Shard building.

Soon, Logan and Rogue arrives in Blackbird with the latter decides to fly to Betsy for aiding her. As she reaches near, Psylocke's psychic blades starts attacking as a defense mechanism and when they came back around, Angel comes following to save Rogue by shielding her with his wings.

Logan tries to divert rest of the blades towards him from Gambit, Fantomex and the crowd of London. When Bishop arrives too, Rogue asks him to get rid of the energy she's about to absorb from Psylocke which has infected her. With some effort, they managed to do that and apparently saved the day for that moment.

Original X-Men member Beast also arrives on the spot to everyone's surprise as he has received the distress psychic call too. Psylocke reveals that the powerful mutant Amahl Farouk is back as the Shadow King once again and he want all of them, so that he can crawl back to real-world and infect it's populace with his poison.

She suggests that they travel to the Astral Plane to fight Shadow King and make sure that he never steps into our world. Otherwise, he will strike at psychics like Emma Frost, Jean Grey, Quentin Quire and Stepford Cuckoos next to make them his mind-slaves.

Logan voluntarily agrees to go inside since he already spent many years in his own timeline to fight the menacing Shadow King. The rest of them followed him as Angel stays behind to aid Betsy just in case and to make sure his Archangel persona stays in check.

Bishop wanted to better the odds if one of their friends wakes up as Farouk's pawn by staying with Betsy and Warren. Just as they entered the Astral Plane, Shadow King senses their presence almost immediately and prepares himself as well as a special prisoner of his for a game with the lives of these X-Men.

Inside, they discover themselves as audience in a theater for a play about their lives but Logan realizes that something weird is going on and he ended up killing a zombie-version of Jean Grey, which triggered other characters present to attack the X-Men.

During their fight, Logan deduces that Hank McCoy among them is actually one of their old enemies, the mutant shape-shifter Mystique just by observing her movements. They all willingly enter three psychic doors presented to them when they realized that someone aside from Farouk is on Astral Plane is secretly helping them.

Astonishing X-Men – Life of X

The fourth monthly ongoing volume of Astonishing X-Men is launched and it begins with the six-part long "Life of X" storyline from Marvel Comics in 2018, which collected issues #01-06 of the series.

To pen out this one, comic-book writer Charles Soule (Civil War II, Death of Wolverine) was hired and he received assistance from artists Carlos Pacheco (Fantastic Four, Inhumans), Ed McGuinness (Deadpool, Guardians of The Galaxy), Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, New Avengers – Illuminati), Mike Del Mundo (Elektra – Bloodlines, Elektra – Reverence) and Mike Deodato Jr. (New Avengers, Secret Avengers), who helped with cover art and illustrations.

"Life of X" reassembles many of the former X-Men members as well as outcasts like Fantomex and Mystique, both of whom either worked with the team or any of the team members previously on occasion.

Plus, this one brings one of the oldest villains Shadow King that these mutant superheroes have faced many times on their earlier days and a long-deceased character back again. Even though the ending of the story is portrayed like a conclusion, for some weird reasons, it still feels like a mild cliffhanger though.

The Clone Conspiracy | Comics

In an alternate universe that was completely ravaged in an outbreak of the Carrion Virus, Scarlet Spider was running from a horde of zomibe-like inhabitants of San Francisco. He managed to secure a research note for a possible cure and asked his secret ally for a portal to jump back home. Meanwhile, The Jackal arrives to release Spidey from his clutches as Octavius had him on ropes and offers a tour around along with Gwen. He took the wall-crawler to a room to show him that he has brought back every deceased member of his rogue's gallery who ever died on his watch and even rehabilitate them.

Seeing all of them together, the web-slinger expected a fight but instead they remain surprisingly unprovoked. His former allies Dr. Ashley Kafka, George Stacy, Jean DeWolff and Prowler showed up siding with the geneticist. Peter's friends were also brought back to convince him to work with Warren as he wishes to use his tech for good this time. Suddenly, George Stacy pulls out his gun at Gwen stating she is not his daughter and she admits to be Spider-Gwen before she jumped off quickly to escape through a vent with Spider-Man.

She and Kaine Parker came to this world to help Spidey prevent a Carrion Virus outbreak that would start as a result of his alliance with Jackal. Kaine already kidnapped the resurrected Gwen Stacy while she came to assist him. When the real Gwen starts decaying for not taking her pills, she is taken to Horizon University for care. She told them to take Scarlet Spider as well because he might have a key to a cure for them all. Anna Maria willingly tags along to help them stop the decaying. A 2017 crossover event, "Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy" is mostly centered on a five-issue Spider-Man limited series from Marvel Comics, written by Christos Gage (Civil War – House of M, Thunderbolts – Secret Invasion) and Dan Slott (Spider-Man – Big Time, Spider-Man – Dying Wish), while Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, New Avengers – Illuminati) served as artist and Gabriele Dell'Otto (Annihilation – Nova, Annihilation – Ronan) provided cover arts. Although, the story at first seemed like a repetitive clash between Spider-Man and The Jackal, it unfolds as more.

The Jackal’s Master Plan

Parker Industries and New U Technologies being responsible for a dystopian future seemed like a fresh take on the series. Scarlet Spider and Spider-Gwen was also enjoyable because they both played their important part that helped the story advance further while Peter Parker did his part. A huge gauntlet of fallen enemies of everyone's favorite wall-crawler including Big Man, Eduardo Lobo, Barton Hamilton's version of Green Goblin, Hitman, Hobgoblin, Jack O'Lantern, Kangaroo, Massacre, Mirage, Montana, Mysterio, Ox, Rose, Spencer Smythe, Spider-Slayer, Stilt-Man and Tarantula showed up.

Mysteries regarding The Living Brain and consciousness of Otto Octavius are finally cleared up by him. Also, the ambiguity around Miles Warren's identity came to a conclusion that even the most veteran fans probably haven't probably guessed. A brand-new monthly ongoing Ben Reilly – Scarlet Spider series with its first storyline titled "Back In The Hood" by Peter David (Hulk – Destruction, The Other – Evolve or Die) and Mark Bagley (Hulk – Banner DOA, Venom – Lethal Protector) begins publication immediately after these events along with monthly Amazing Spider-Man series.

AXIS | Comics

Following Avengers/X-Men War, Captain America decided to form a team of The Avengers with human and mutant superheroes from X-Men. They were almost immediately troubled by Nazi super-villain Red Skull has stepped into war-torn island nation of Genosha to claim the powerful mind of Professor Charles Xavier from his corpse and to create an army to rule world in his vision. With his new-found psychic powers, Skull decides to re-ignite the age-old war between humans and mutants to eradicate the latter race from Earth forever but Avengers Unity Division came in his way.

Red Skull then escaped to Genosha, turning it into a secret mutant concentration camp where his army of S-Men tortures and ran experiments on mutants. Upon hearing about Skull’s activities, mutant terrorist Magneto arrives at Genoshan island nation to confront him only to be captured and tortured by Red Skull. In a blind fury, Magneto slays the entire fleet of S-Men assembled there as well as Skull himself with his enhanced power boosts from Mutant Growth Hormone.

Everyone present there thought his menace was end for good, only for the villain to re-appear as the terrifying Red Onslaught. As Red Onslaught, Red Skull spreads his message of hatred worldwide to wage a new "World War Hate". Overwhelmed by Onslaught's power, Wanda Maximoff briefly gave in to him and Magneto were tossed around to one of the camps where he finds Cyclops, Genesis and Kid Omega all captured. Genesis got stabbed by Ahab while Cyclops and Havok were fighting but then Colossus, Nightcrawler and Storm brings the cavalry of other heroes in.

This caused Sam Wilson to insult Thor to get hit by Jarnbjorn, then Vision crashing Odinson through Quinjet and Doc Green getting angry. Sunfire suddenly attacks Wasp for no reason at all and then Iron Man finally put a stop to this madness by taking down Plantman. With other fractured teams of The Avengers, Inhumans and X-Men, Iron Man arrives to face Red Skull in his newest form but then the latter unleashes two Adamantium Stark Sentinels on them.

Skull had Tony secretly build those killing machines during Civil War under his evil influence to fight all heroes against his reign. When seriously outmatched by Stark Sentinels, Rogue suggested Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch to cast a spell that would invert Skull's moral axis and let Charles Xavier take over to stop Onslaught but didn't work at first for Nova's lack of experience. They reassembled once again only to fall, when Magneto arrives with an army of super-villains to buy Strange and Wanda time to complete their inversion spell but Stephen is taken out and Doctor Doom stepped in to help complete the spell.

Now their moral axis reversed, major super-villains like Absorbing Man, Carnage, Deadpool, Enchantress, HobgoblinJack O'LanternLoki, Mystique and Sabretooth turned into heroes and Doom was gone. Skull's body was left behind and a stir caused among the heroes regarding whether to wake him up to free Xavier or let The Avengers take custody of him. Meanwhile, X-Men members of Jean Grey School For Higher Learning have gathered from Genosha by Evan Sabah Nur turned a new Apocalypse to rule entire mankind by releasing a gene bomb to wipe out existence of all humans from New York City.

With the artists team of Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, Avengers & X-Men – Axis), Jerome Opeña and Dustin Weaver, Marvel Comics have had comic-book writer Jonathan Hickman (Secret Wars, Time Runs Out) concoct the 2013 major crossover comic event “Infinity”. Rumor has it that even though the 2018's Marvel Cinematic Universe live-action release of Avengers: Infinity War takes the legendary "Infinity Gauntlet" arc as their primary plotline, 2013's "Infinity" crossover event will also shape the film's plot to a modern setting. Elements from the crossover such as introducing the Black Order as lackeys of Thanos in the film to do his bidding is possibly one of such. Instead of Black Order, his lackeys are referred as Children of Thanos in the film and Black Dwarf among them is named Cull Obsidian, which is actually an alias for Black Order in the comics.
