Predator Vs. Judge Dredd Vs. Aliens – Splice and Dice | Comics

An ultimate sci-fi crossover pits extraterrestrial Aliens, Predators and Judge Dredd of Mega-City One for APOCALYPSE PARTY!

A lone Predator was running through a swamp area under the dark of night and while they are known throughout the galaxy for being big game hunters, this one is being hunted and has been vitally wounded. Soon, it is incapacitated by a group of mutant animals surrounding him and knocked him senseless for trespassing.

Before taking him to their master, they took a short tour of his ship to discover all the trophies and weapons he collected and are sent back to their complex. Among those prized possessions, there was a skeleton of a Xenomorph Alien to usher their doom!

Meanwhile, Judge Dredd was in pursuit of same chaos and corruption that plagues Mega-City One with three other Judges including his long-time partner Judge Anderson of Psi Division. They arrived far into damned wasteland of Cursed Earth, looking for a group of fugitives on run and intend to serve justice by arresting them all.

Dredd bumped into one of those apocalypse cultists and his fellow Judges made quick work of them but unfortunately, their leader and robo-messiah Archbishop Emoji takes advantage of this distraction and escapes into Alabama Morass to avoid capture.

The mutant group of Ani-Men takes all extraterrestrial belonging of Yautja ship to a lab of an evil genius named Dr. Niels Reinstöt. He then reveals his agenda to the captured Predator that he has already created a Facehugger using Xenomorph DNA from the skull by gene-splicing and intends to use it as a living host to hatch a Predalien.

However, he is interrupted by his Ani-Men, who came to inform him about more trespassers and Reinstöt recalls a history with legendary lawman of Mega-City One seeing Dredd but it was a group of Yautjas looking for their missing friend that worried him.

Returning from a hunt, these Predators came here tracking down a distress signal from their fallen comrade. They also detected traces of Dredd and his allies chasing down Emoji, which ended up in the robot being shot down but before his Lawgiver could deliver final sentence, all four Judges are ambushed by Reinstöt's mutated Ani-Men and taken captive.

Preparing for another hunt on this blue planet, the pack of hunters immediately go looking for their missing friend in cloak and let loose a merciless red rain of blood upon Ani-Men mutants by ruthlessly raiding their very compound, killing anything in sight.

Back in Reinstöt's lab, Dredd recognizes him as a mad-scientist from Mega-City One that he seemingly killed long ago but he is assured it was a decoy. Judge Anderson peeks into his mind to find pure evil but it was too late since he injects McCrary with a formula that transforms him into a vicious Alien creature and put a Facehugger on Gilligan.

Seeing other hunters approaching, the mad doctor attempts to escape taking Anderson along to run more experiments on her later. Leaving Dredd with two deadly Xenomorph hybrids to die while he takes the party to densely populated Mega-City One in a ride with his new best buddy Emoji and raise hell by unleashing Apocalypse!

Predator Vs. Judge Dredd Vs. Aliens – Splice and Dice

A four-issue limited series from Dark Horse Comics and IDW, "Predator Vs. Judge Dredd Vs. Aliens" sets up stage for triple threat battle royale of ultimate science-fiction characters by writer John Layman (Aliens – Inhuman Condition, Army of Darkness/Xena – Warrior Princess) and artist Chris Mooneyham (Five Ghosts, Predator – Fire and Stone).

Before moving from sci-fi based British comic-book magazine 2000 AD to IDW in 2012, Judge Dredd had two crossovers with Dark Horse Comics' two crown jewels, Aliens and Predator. The first time it was Predator Versus Judge Dredd in 1997 and then in 2003 Judge Dredd Versus Aliens: Incubus limited series came out.

An Epic Face-Off

Layman borrowed some previously introduced elements like Predalien from Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem movie as well as came up with an unique idea of transforming a host immediately by injecting a DNA serum. Also, protagonist Dredd recalls his encounter with both Yautja and Xenomorphs from his previous crossover adventures.

Primary antagonist and evil geneticist Dr. Niels Reinstöt being a mad geneticist allowed for a different takes at new Alien hybrids to challenge our hero. Besides, the villain himself is a human/spider cross being because of his vile experiments upon himself and at the endgame; he becomes something more sinister than his expectation.

Fire and Stone | Comics

A group of researcher from Hadley's Hope on planetoid LV-426 manages to leave everything behind in an attempt to outrun a Xenomorph outbreak. They make a quick escape using an excavating vessel Onager in 2179 and landed on barren moon of LV-223, unknowingly carrying on-board the very death they were desperately trying to evade. One by one, all of them succumb to their hostile surroundings and the genocidal aliens but scientist Derrick Russell was able to make some interesting discoveries before he finally met his fate.

Nearly 40 years after this event, Weyland-Yutani sends some more crews to LV-223 for a salvage mission led by Captain Angela Foster, whose real motive is to find out what actually happened to USCSS Prometheus' crews and Sir Peter Weyland but no one else was aware of that. Astrobiologist Francis Lane also volunteered for this voyage despite having a certain medical condition. Upon landing on the moon's surface, Angela and her crews were taking a tour there and came across a lake of black goo and a pack of mauled animals.

When they stumbled onto a long-deserted ship Onager from Hadley's Hope after exploring the harsh wildlife around them, the crews unknowingly entered inside only for the deadly Aliens residing within to unleash on them. Many of the crews were slaughtered by the horde and some are attacked by Facehuggers. Rest of them ran towards their ship while a wave follows them. Chief security officer Galgo Helder somehow survived from Xeno onslaught and retreats without wasting a single moment with the ship Perses as well as Piper and Higgins, leaving Angela and remaining survivors to their uncertain fate.

Amidst this chaos, Francis and his construct assistant Elden got separated from main group and found a cave, where terra-forming engineer Derrick Russell spent his last days. Finding his research notes on black goo, Francis decides to make an experiment with Elden. Things escalate pretty quickly when Francis tricks his construct aid Elden to be a filter for the accelerant goo, to use it as a cure for his terminal cancer. Torn and turned by betrayal, he allows a waiting group of Aliens into Helios to massacre everyone on-board.

A game-hunting Yauta Clan noticed the presence of Xenomorphs on LV-223 from a nearby star system and follows Perses as it was carrying a number of them that Elden brought on board. Galgo barely manages to escape from the blood feud of these extraterrestrials, unknowingly carrying a Predator on his ship. The Yautja kills all of his crews to secure an Engineer rifle he stole from the crashed derelict ship. Then it forces Galgo to head back to LV-223 for having one ultimate showdown with a vengeful Engineer.

Predator – Fire and Stone | Comics

After a salvage mission tuned into a massacre at the hands of Xenomorphs residing on LV-223, Weyland-Yutani spacecraft Geryon's former chief of security Galgo Helder deemed it wise to leave his captain Angela Foster and everyone else behind except for his old friends Piper and Higgins. Yet, chaos followed him anyways in form of an evolving Elden and his Xenomorph friends hell-bent on killing everyone else but then a hunting party of Predators attacked them on-board Geryon and Galgo abandoned it by escaping in The Perces.

However, he did not know that a lone Predator still managed to sneak into their patrol ship before it took off. Sensing its presence shortly afterwards, Galgo wakes up Piper and Higgins from their cryo-sleep to hunt it down after briefing them about the horrific events that took place when they weren't awake. Keeping ship's safety in mind, they held back from using any firearms and plan to flank it out in open. Although not willing to fire up, Galgo decides to keep his scavenged Alien weapon by his side at all times as he wishes to use it for a huge payday from their company!

Piper separates himself from Galgo and Higgins to main corridor in search for the Yautja, believing he can take it out by himself and eventually encounters it on a fight. Even though it was cloaked, he manages to hit it and then got blown to bits by its Plasmacaster. Realizing what they are dealing with, Galgo uses Higgins as bait and closed a hatch between them. He then opened the airlock seeing it appear on his tracker to flush out the beast into space. The old hag suffocated into the merciless vacuum of space and the stowaway hunter then revealed his presence by finally confronting Galgo.

After a futile and short fight, the Predator captured him with wire net when he thought he was done for but instead of killing him it freed him and showed him a hologram of an Engineer that he seeks. With his hands completely tied against his will, Galgo struck a deal with his captor to take him to LV-223 in exchange for his own freedom. It appears that, this Yautja is a trophy collector, who has been hunting worthy opponents around the galaxy for a century now and he wants an Engineer head on his plate this time.

Upon landing on the barren moon of LV-223, Galgo bids the Predator farewell but it wanted him to follow up. A gauntlet linking them with a laser-like wire is placed on his hand and is forcibly taken outside for sightseeing. The duo came across a few huge piles of dead Xenomorphs before meeting Angela, Chris and Jill still wandering around. Stuck between all these overwhelming odds, Galgo reflects on his unknown future where he is either destined to be torn apart by Xenomorphs, brutally killed by Engineer, taken down by his former peers for ditching them or worse, stuck there for rest of his life?

Predator – Fire and Stone

Set in Aliens/Predators/Prometheus shared universe from Dark Horse Comics, "Predator – Fire and Stone" is a part of a major crossover event "Fireand Stone". This storyline was developed by comic-book writer Joshua Williamson (Birthright, Nailbiter) and artist Chris Mooneyham (Five Ghosts, Predator Vs. Judge Dredd Vs. Aliens – Splice and Dice), while Lucas Graciano was serving as regular cover artist and Alex Maleev (Halo – Uprising, Hellboy & the B.P.R.D.) provided a variant cover for first issue. Mooneyham brings his unique art style on table to give the book a different vibe than its other related series.

Duel of Supremacy

Purpose for this four-issue limited series was actually to tie-in with three other inter-connected stories; Aliens – Fire and Stone, Aliens Vs. Predator – Fire and Stone and Prometheus – Fire and Stone. Even though, it was meant to be a bridge between its companion stories, the plot also distantly connects with live-action Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012) movies. A connection between Aliens and Engineer is already explored in live-action films and now, another long-running feud between Engineers and Yautja is revealed. More of these ties with extraterrestrial species and their age-old clashes will be seen in upcoming "Life and Death" crossover.
