In the post Avengers/X-Men war period, Captain America forms a new team with heroes from Avengers and X-Men team by recruiting Havok, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Thor and Wolverine, to unite Mutants and humans. Sunfire, Wasp and Wonder Man soon joined the Unity Squad.

Since their formation as a team, Avengers Unity Division has faced Avalanche, the Apocalypse Twins (Ragnarok Now), Sentry as Horseman of Death, stopped the Celestial Exitar from destroying Earth, encountered Kang, fought Red Skull during the AXIS crisis and rescued Magneto. After Doctor Voodoo, Sabretooth, Sam Wilson and Vision have joined as new members; the team has been to High Evolutionary's Counter-Earth and discovers a dark secret about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's past.

Uncanny Avengers are re-assembled again to prevent a "Lost Future" ushered by an Inhuman villain named The Shredded Man, as they recruited Deadpool, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Synapse and then Cable tagged along. When Steve Rogers learns of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Pleasant Hill project regarding a Cosmic Cube in the form of a young girl named "Kobik", they got involved (Avengers – Standoff!).

The presumably dead Henry Pym returns in Ultron's body and Wasp re-joins the team. It took all of their effort help from Iron Man to hurl Ultron into the sun. Captain America decommissioned the Unity Division throughout Civil War II due to the actions of his teammates. Later, they fell under the clutches of Red Skull, back again with the power of the deceased Professor X.

In the aftermath of Avengers Vs. X-Men event, Marvel Comics has launched a brand-new monthly ongoing title by forming a new team of superheroes from both Avengers and X-Men at the end of 2012.

All-New Union

Initially, writer Rick Remender (Black Science, Fear Agent) and artist John Cassaday has created the series and over time comic-book creators like Adam Kubert (Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate X-Men), Carlos Pacheco (Bishop, Fantastic Four), Cullen Bunn (Moon Knight, Venom), Daniel Acuna (The Eternals, New Avengers), Gerry Duggan (Arkham Manor, Hawkeye Vs. Deadpool), Pepe Larraz (Avengers – Rage of Ultron, New Avengers – Luke Cage), Ryan Stegman (Scarlet Spider, Superior Spider-Man), Salvador Larroca (Psylocke & Archangel – Crimson Dawn, Spider-Man – House of M), Sanford Greene (PMIF – The Boys Are Back In Town, PMIF – Civil War II) and Steve McNiven (Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Avengers, Wolverine – Old Man Logan) has taken over the series as it progresses.

Cable has survived the effects of the deadly techno-organic virus inside of his body in the aftermath of “Second Coming” and reaches to an apocalyptic future where he learns from his mentor and ally Blaquesmith that, The Avengers will be responsible for the death of his daughter Hope Summers. So, with only 24 hours to live, he returns from the future with a plan to take down The Avengers, one by one. He first kidnapped the Falcon from the battlefield while the team was dealing with the Lethal Legion, which promptly led him to conflict with Captain America who followed Cable to his hideout and the latter managed to capture him after a brief fight. Iron Man notices Cap’s absence and quickly reached to his location only to find him in Magneto's inhibitor chair.

He soon is attacked by Cable with Stark Technologies from the future timeline and eventually is subdued as the latter has managed to override the defense system in Iron Man’s armor. Next up, the new powerhouse member of The Avengers known as Red Hulk shows up and another fierce battle ensues where Cable managed to take down the powerful Red Hulk. Upon defeating Rulk using the lethal techno-organic virus in his system, Nathan is approached by X-Men's Cyclops and Hope Summers, sent by his mentor. Before he could respond to them Spider-Man and Wolverine arrives to the scene as the last standing Avengers. If not stopped soon, Cable will turn on the rest of The Avengers members one by one and erase their existence from the history.

Avengers – X-Sanction is a four issued limited series written by Jeph Loeb (Daredevil – Yellow, Hulk – Gray) and drawn by his long time penciller ally Ed McGuinness (Guardians of The Galaxy, Hulk – Red Hulk), with artist Joe Quesada (Daredevil – Guardian Devil, Daredevil – Father) and Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers, Secret Invasion) delivering variant covers. It was published by Marvel Comics in 2012 and was the beginning story which led to the next biggest company wide Avengers Vs. X-Men crossover event. The series picked up materials from the "Second Coming" event and served as a prologue to the mega Avengers/X-Men showdown.

Mutant population has been drastically reduced and the remaining Mutants are left de-powered after the "House of M" event caused by a mentally unstable Scarlet Witch. She had flattened the slim chances of any mutant population to the future. However, recently a new mutant activation is detected in Alaska by Professor Xavier and Beast. Cyclops reaches the spot with the X-Men, only to find out a few lifeless bodies of The Marauders and The Purifiers, assuming they had reached here first and had a fight for the possession of the new born. Cyclops sent the team of Wolverine, Storm, Angel, Colossus and Nightcrawler to look for Marauders and Predator X is also seen looking for the baby and devouring the dead corpses of The Marauders.

Julio Richter AKA Rictor has joined the ranks of Purifiers to investigate and act as a double-agent for Cyclops, discovering that they don't have the baby yet but they have Lady Deathstrike in their team. Soon the team of New X-Men attacks The Purifiers and these two team battles with Lady Deathstrike initially taking down both X-23 and Rockslide. The X-Men engaged in a full-scale battle with Mister Sinister’s group of Marauders consisting Apocalypse's former Horsemen of Death, Gambit, Sunfire, Scalphunter, Lady Mastermind, Omega Sentinel, Vertigo and many other bad guys on Sinister’s Antarctic base. Finally it is revealed by Wolverine that Cable actually has the baby in his care, but a time travelling Bishop is after the baby too for his own reasons.

"Messiah CompleX" is a Marvel Comics crossover event that ran from 2007-08, from right after the "X-Men - Blinded by the Light" storyline and followed from the "Endangered Species" event. Writer Mike Carey (X-Men – Manifest Destiny, X-Men – Supernovas), Ed Brubaker (Captain America – Reborn, Steve Rogers – Super-Soldier), Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle drafted parts of this event in various X-Titles. Artist Chris Bachalo (Generation X, Uncanny X-Men), Humberto Ramos (Amazing Spider-Man, Superior Spider-Man), Marc Silvestri (Cyberforce, The Darkness) and Billy Tan (New Avengers, Shadowland) took turns on the total drawing responsibilities.
