Terrified at his husband, a pregnant Magda fled and gave birth to her twin child; Wanda and Pietro, who would join The Avengers as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Erik would later meet Professor Charles Xavier and discussed the “Existence of Mutants” which quickly bonded these two. But after their being mutant is revealed to each other, Eric soon parted his ways with Xavier.

He became the self-proclaimed savior of mutants by taking the alias "Magneto" and formed Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. His old friend Charles Xavier and his team of X-Men would cross paths with him whenever he tries to terrorize the world with his world dominating schemes.

Over the years they’d fight each other on numerous occasions and when he forcibly pulled the Adamantium from Wolverine’s body (Fatal Attractions), Xavier tries to shut his mind that created the psionic being Onslaught. Magneto battled Fantastic Four, The Sub-Mariner, The Inhumans, ruled the island nation of Genosha, rendered powerless, reunited with Wanda and Pietro, fought Apocalypse in another reality, came back from dead many times and eventually joined the ranks of X-Men.
