Amazing Spider-Man – New Ways to Die | Comics

Spider-Man faces a new goblin Menace while being hunted down by Norman Osborn and his Thunderbolts.

For long, Peter Parker has been fighting crime as the Amazing Spider-Man and selling his own photos to J. Jonah Jameson at Daily Bugle. Even though JJJ was bashing his alter-ego, he was okay with the paycheck but ever since Dexter Bennett became his new boss, he has been feeling like being forced to cross a line and so, he quit the job.

Lately, he has faced a new goblin named Menace, who was vandalizing campaign ads for mayoral candidate Bill Hollister and had a run-in with him. They exchanged blows and then the hero is left under rubbles as it escaped. He sees a wave of people coming out of that building and takes some photos for the sake of a possible news story.

Since Dexter Bennett had him blacklisted at every paper in town, he goes to the office of Front Line, an independent newspaper ran by Ben Urich. They assume it to be an illegal sweatshop upon looking at the photos, even found links to it with another mayoral candidate Randall Crowne and they published a piece on him the next day.

Worried about his campaign, Crowne calls in his old friend who is the new sheriff in town, Norman Osborn and former super-villain Green Goblin. They agreed to a deal that Osborn will bring his parade of goons in Thunderbolts to apprehend the web-slinger. Plus, there is a story of a "Spider-Tracer Killer", which really makes it all easy to follow.

Bennett from DB sends Betty Brant to investigate a rumor of terminally ill patients getting miraculously healed in the homeless shelter at F.E.A.S.T. Center ran by billionaire Martin Li. She finds cancer patient and former host of Venom symbiote Eddie Brock residing there as a volunteer ever since Li has offered him a second chance at life.

To capture Spider-Man, who is now a fugitive with murder acquisitions, Osborn led a raid on the apartment of Peter Parker with Radioactive Man, Songbird and Venom from his Dark Avengers team to interrogate him about how to contact the wall-crawler as he keeps taking his photos for years and must have some means to contact him.

Even though Os-Man has no idea about Parker secretly being the Webhead he is looking for, he suspects they have some sort of working relationship. However, Normie had to leave Pete alone upon the arrival of his policeman roommate Vin Gonzales. Meanwhile, Eddie has discovered that he's been miraculously cured of his cancer.

Director Osborn sends his Thunderbolts team looking for Spider-Man over the city but the hero sneaks into his lair to confront the madman after taking down his security officials and webbing up Bullseye. When he hears Mac Gargan heading to F.E.A.S.T. Center looking for him, Spidey immediately rushes after the maniac to save Aunt May.

Gargan ran into Brock there and the latter suddenly transforms into Anti-Venom in response to the presence of a Venom symbiote nearby when it tried to bond with him again. Brock starts attacking both Venom and Spidey at the same time but ultimately concentrating on the former to cure him off his symbiote, considering it a plague on humanity.

Brock then teams up with the wall-crawler to take down rest of the Thunderbolts, who were eagerly waiting to get a piece of them. From a nearby roof, Osborn was observing the fight and then has a run-in with Menace, who comes at him out of nowhere but the former goblin quickly turn things around into his favor and throw off the attacker.

He then calls of Songbird and the other with the de-powered Gargan and back at Oscorp, he produces a counter formula using Anti-Venom's white symbiote substance. He also reverse engineered a targeting system using Peter Parker's camera from the roof for his henchmen to have a lock on Spider-Man's chest and shoot him down.

While sorting out personal issues regarding his girlfriend Lily Hollister and her father Bill being hospitalized after an attack from Menace, Harry Osborn finds out that his father has not changed to normal at all and is back in his goblin persona. Each with their own goal in mind, Anti-Venom and Spider-Man teams up to take the fight to enemy.

"New Ways to Die" is a six part comic-book storyline that took place in Amazing Spider-Man monthly ongoing series from Marvel Comics in 2008, collecting issues #568-573. Writer Dan Slott (She-Hulk, Silver Surfer) and Mark Waid (Daredevil, Fantastic Four) collaborated with artist John Romita Jr. (Avengers Vs. X-Men, World War Hulk) on this one.

Eddie Brock is no longer Venom and earlier, he was diagnosed with cancer (Spectacular Spider-Man – The Hunger). It happened because of his long exposure to the symbiote and it then chose former Scorpion, Mac Gargan as the newest host. Eddie has become Anti-Venom, latest member to the symbiote-family and an arch-enemy to the black suit.

The Osborn Supremacy

As the events of "One More Day" takes effect, neither Brock nor Osborn knows who Spidey is anymore and in a situation like he is right now where almost everyone wants him dead, it is one of the blessings Peter counts on. Now, one of them chases him and the other becomes a temporary ally who offers a helping hand against an awful odd.

Following his transformation, Eddie became more powerful than ever and at the same time, became friendlier than his usual "Lethal Protector" style. Though Martin Li remained inert for this plot, he may have larger plans to execute in future as Mister Negative. Osborn will return with another of his scheme in the next arc "American Son".

Civil War | Comics

When the young mutant group of heroes, the New Warriors tried to get higher ratings for their own TV Show by ambushing a few second-string super villains like Cobalt Man, Coldheart, Nitro and Speedfreak, their plan went wrong. The villain Nitro caused an explosion during his escape attempt which killed more than 600 people, among them 60 were confirmed to be children.

This event sparked an anti-mutant hysteria in the aftermath of M-Day and the necessity for superheroes to be kept in check and thus the Super Human Registration Act, which was already being discussed by a few super people earlier, is passed within a week. According to the Act's rule, every super powered person both heroes or villains should reveal their secret identities to the government and to register with them as well.

Captain America was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. to work with them in support of the Act because of his influence on the community but his quick refusal made him a fugitive of law too and he narrowly escaped his capture at the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. Captain America formed the Secret Avengers with Cable, Daredevil, Falcon, Bill Foster, Hercules and Luke Cage, who were opposed to the Registration Act. Iron Man grouped the other super peoples to the Act's support as well as Spider-Man on his side. Upon being convinced by Tony Stark, he even revealed his secret identity in front of public as a support to the Act.

Cap's team is soon joined by Young Avengers, Cloak and Dagger as they occasionally fights S.H.I.E.L.D. "cape-killer" units and other criminals. Tony on the other hand believed that, oversight of heroes is a great idea. Then, along with Mister Fantastic and Hank Pym, he created Prison 42 for captive heroes and villains alike who will not comply with them, located inside the Negative Zone. Peter Parker realized that Tony is monitoring him with his new Iron Spider suit and then took a tour of the Negative Zone; he quickly realized that he joined the wrong side.

He sneak out of Stark Tower with Aunt May and Mary Jane but Iron Man released a few villains on his tail to bring him back. It was the timely intervention of Punisher who saved Spidey and brought him to Cap's secret base. Soon, the whole super human community became split into two teams. A major conflict between the divided heroes occurs and the effect is going to shake the core of everyone’s relation with each other.

The main seven issue mini-series that was drawn by artist Steve McNiven (Death of Wolverine, Wolverine – Old Man Logan), is published with many other tie-in books as well. The event found its place in the pages of other monthly ongoing running series like Amazing Spider-Man, Black Panther, Cable/Deadpool, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, New Avengers, Punisher – War Journal, Sensational Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Thunderbolts and Wolverine.

Heroes Divided by War

"Civil War" has changed the dynamics of heroes in the whole Marvel Universe from inside out as heroes who previously fought alongside against world-ending threats became each others' opponent. Doctor Strange and the team of X-Men remained mostly neutral during this event, except for Wolverine, who went on a solo mission to take down Nitro himself. The story is later adapted into a live-action film, the third movie of the Captain America trilogy titled "Captain America: Civil War" from Marvel Studios on 2016.

Deadpool | Comics

Deadpool was a Merc with a Mouth, subjected to a rogue experiment at Weapon X that gives him accelerated healing powers and insanity.

Most of his early life is unknown and when it comes to remember his own past he also cannot recall almost any of it. Whatever memories he still has are all very conflicting. At one instance it is what he recalls to be raised by a single mother who was very abusive to him and then in another, he remembers losing her when he was only five.

That is what he believes to be one of the primary reason why he grew up to be a criminal later in life but it turns out that, he left home in a very early age and his parents were still living in the same house they had in Canada. When he came back to that place years later, Wade Wilson could not recognize his room which his parents kept the same.

He joined U.S. Army Special Forces but had a hard time following orders, so he was kicked out soon. He is rolled into a CIA-sponsored group of mercenary assassins to kill certain targets that need not to live. These are the events that all took place before he was taken to Department K, meet Wolverine or even becoming the anti-hero Deadpool.

Whatever weird stuff Wade did back then is relatively less known but he traveled to Morocco and then Japan to be hired by a Yakuza crime boss. He was sent to get into a rival sumo-wrestling ring of his boss but ended up falling for Sazae, the young daughter of Oyakata, who was training him in wrestling for three years.

As the time came when his employer told him to kill his expert sumo wrestler mentor, Wilson backed out of this assignment that he claims to be the first time in his life. Sazae was left heartbroken after this and Wade relocated to U.S. he came to meet a mutant teenage prostitute Vanessa Carlysle, whom he would fall in love with soon.

Then he was hired to kill a British Government operative named Blind Al, who escaped before he could kill her. To get to him, Vanessa was targeted by his new employer but was saved by Zoe Culloden of Landau, Luckman, & Lake. They believed Wade was some sort of messiah who is going to prevent an oncoming cosmic threat.

Weapon X
Wade Wilson found out that he has been diagnosed with cancer and then broke up with Vanessa, so she could live a normal life instead of pinned with him. He even gave up on chemo treatments as he did not wished to prolong the inevitable. Then Department K contacted him with an offer to become a test subject for one of their projects.

He volunteered for the project and is given former Weapon X operative, Wolverine’s rapid healing factor to survive their experiments. Wade found himself in a field mission alongside other operatives Kane, Sluggo and Slayback. At one point, even Vanessa joined the team as mutant shape-shifter Copycat when her abilities started manifesting.

Later Wilson realized that his healing power is failing, thus the cancer came back and horribly deformed his flesh. Considering him a failure, Weapon X rejected him and sent him to one of their secret facility Hospice. There, every patient ends up being experimental test-subjects for Doctor Killebrew and his sadistic assistant Ajax.

Killebrew and Ajax are primarily responsible for turning Wade Wilson into psychotic super-merceneray Deadpool he'd become later. In Hospice, patients used to bet in a "deadpool" for how long they each going to last there. While suffering at the hands of evil geneticist Killebrew, he eventually met cosmic entity Death and formed a romantic relation.

He keeps on taunting Ajax by calling his real name Francis, earning him the respect of fellow patients but angered the sadistic assistant. To teach him a lesson, Ajax lobotomized his friend Worm, whom he had to kill to end his suffering. Killebrew had a rule that if any of his patients kill another should be executed and so, Francis tore Wilson's heart out.

His thirst for vengeance was so strong that it eventually jump-started his healing factor once again to save his life by regenerating his heart but unfortunately couldn't cure his scars. Nevertheless, Wade quickly rushed out to find Ajax after beating up all the guards in his way and he finally got to and shot his enemy before leaving him to die.

Merc with a Mouth
Upon leaving Hospice, Deadpool became an enforcer for Hammerhead before going back to being a freelance mercenary. He was hired by Kingpin and then tangled with his old pal Logan, when he was a spy for the Canadian government. Wade eventually found Blind Al and keep her captive but he killed anyone who ever tried to help her escape.

Years later, he returns to Hospice looking for a way to get to Killebrew and Doctor Walter Langkowski was assigned to treat him this time, who also happens to be Canada's super-team Alpha Flight member Sasquatch but then abandons this venture as well. Around this time, he got his hands on a teleportation device to aid in his misadventures.

Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars
What many doesn't know is that when the Beyonder picked up many superheroes and villains from Earth to his Battleworld to take part in original Secret Wars, Deadpool was one of the selected few. He met an alien woman named Zsaji there, who removed the scars on his face using her power and they both fell in love with each other.

He meddled with a machine to get a new costume after seeing Thor get one but got one in black-and-white that was alive and interacted with his psyche as it was an alien symbiote Klyntar. He left it back to where he found it before Spider-Man arriving to repair his own costume and became bonded to it without knowing its true nature.

Before the event of Doctor Doom stealing Beyonder's power, he briefly started an affair with The Wasp after Zsaji moved on with Colossus. He sacrificed his own life to resurrect Mister Fantastic to save the day and his scars would return for doing so. Wasp was horrified to see his face and wished to Beyonder that he erase this from everyone's memory.

Back in Black
When Spider-Man has removed his symbiotic costume in the bell tower of Our Lady of Saints Church, it felt abandoned and after being chased by a group of alien bounty hunter, it quickly ran from there. It founds a blinded Deadpool in a nearby club fighting Machine Man and bonded to him as he was about to be mind-controlled by Dansen Macabre.

Turning into Venompool, he kicked off all of his attackers and even killed some of them. Aside from having tentacles, Wade discovers that he can now shoot webbing like Spidey. Wilson recalls their time from Battleworld and decides to keep the suit this time. Soon the dup will be persuaded by extraterrestrial bounty hunter Killer Thrill, Guzz and Coldwar.

After defeating Dansen Macabre, he briefly teamed up with Power Pack to fight Zn'rx soldiers, took down White Rabbit alongside Black Cat, devoured Coldwar when engaged, gotten into beef with Kraven the Hunter for mistaking it as Spider-Man and finally saved the latter's life by forcing Killer Thrill to leave him alone before letting go off the suit.

Secret Invasion
Wade Wilson was also operational during the invasion of the alien Skrulls and took a covert assignment from Nick Fury of S.H.I.LE.D. So, he goes to a baseball stadium where an armada ship showed up posing as a mascot and gunned down a few of them. When they deployed the Super-Skrull to catch him, he surrenders and wishes to join them.

Despite his history in killing business and a shady past as a Weapon X operative, the Skrulls were not interested about him but when they discover his rapid healing ability, they decide to develop a new batch of super weapon using his DNA. The new bunch showed potential by taking out an entire fleet of Super-Skrulls with ease.

Although impervious to death, they all now posses Wade's incurable insanity and when he made them blew each other brains out, his intentions became clear to the enemy. The remaining few were killed off by cell overgrowth from his healing factor. Before leaving with the data he came looking for, Wade beats the lead geneticist to death.

Dark Reign
Earlier, Wade went through a lot of crap to infiltrate among the ranks of Skrulls during "Secret Invasion" to get information on behalf of Nick Fury but his transmission was intercepted by Norman Osborn, which he used to kill the Skrull Queen and became director of H.A.M.M.E.R. while Wilson got scammed out of a payday he worked for.

After a botched up job off-shore, he was returning back to America and his ship was sunk by Tiger Shark. He wakes up at a Mexico beach, missing an arm but as he goes out seeking the enemy, it came to him with a huge machete. His friend Hydra agent Bob came to help him fight Shark too but was actually sent here to kill him.

DP clears the wind between them by revealing that he knows Bob was sent to whack him down but then they team-up and defeat Tiger Shark before shooting him in the hand for trying to sell him out. He forced Bob to reveal the identity of his secret employer, who was Osborn and learned that he is the one responsible for Wade missing his paycheck.

So, Deadpool sends an invoice to him next day for a hundred million and he then assembles his Thunderbolts team to confront the merc. DP ran straight to the trap set for him on Avengers Tower but still managed to take down all of his attackers except Yelena Belova, the other Black Widow and even started flirting with her instead of fighting.

With help from Taskmaster, he tries to woo her some more by swapping places and got his head cut off by Headsman, which Yelena put back on. Osborn thought he has seen the last of him but saw him alive and sent master assassin Bullseye dressed as Hawkeye to take care of business but he had to pay Wade to stop him from keep coming back.

Uncanny Avengers
Deadpool has been taking covert assignments from an elderly person that doesn't even pay him. He is worried that if word gets out about him doing charity works, it may ruin his reputation. Though he decided not to take orders from anyone a while ago, the tables have turned and he is not even allowed to kill anyone during these missions.

He breaks into a secret facility to collect a canister before arriving on Avengers Mansion and his handler is revealed to be none other than Steve Rogers, formerly known as Captain America. Turns out what he bust out are Terrigen Mist samples, now will be used to find a cure for M-Pox to save Rogue and he became a member of Rogers' Unity Squad.

Lost Future
So, alongside a team of Doctor Voodoo, Human Torch, Quicksilver, Rogue, Spider-Man and Synapse, Deadpool officially begin his career as an Avenger with Commander Steve Rogers in charge. In their first adventure, they go up against the Super-Adaptoid that was being a challenged to them that neither Synapse nor Torch could handle.

Wade takes him down with an unorthodox method that could've been dangerous and this angers Spidey so much that he quits the team. A villain mutated by Terrigen Cloud called Shredded Man unleashes a dystopian landscape on Boston that required time-travelling mutant Cable to come back from future and join forces to stop him.

Seeing his teammates not getting along with Nathan much, Wade suggests that if he is here from future then things are bad for real. These two mutant mercenaries go guns blazing against those creatures before having Rogue to throw him to at the enemy for a "Fastball Special" when he ran out of ammo and Cable eventually saves the day.

The Man Who Fell To Earth
Trapped inside the prison of Pleasant Hill, Wade gives chase to a vehicle with Nathan, Rogue, Synapse and Voodoo to a vehicle Wrecker was driving. He asks the Wrecking Crew member if he has been looking for Red Skull as he was tasked. Together they all regrouped to fight back S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives to stop them from taking Maria Hill back.

When Hank Pym returns to Earth soon wrapped up in Ultron parts, Wade was surprised as everyone else. He later stops by to ask Cable if Half Life 3 ever drops seeing him talking with Human Torch about future. As the Schaefer Theater is blown up by a distressed Hank, DP has him held on gunpoint after Wasp hits him with an E.M.P. charge.

While Cap and Janet argues about whether to take a shot, he fires a warning shot touching his ear, only to be impaled by a robotic extension of the robot. Nate asks Wasp to fire a second E.M.P. to disable Ultron's remains inside Deadpool's body and then separates the Merc from the machine by ripping it all from his flesh using his telekinesis.

Writer Fabian Nicieza (Alpha Flight, New Warriors) came up with the idea to co-create Deadpool for Marvel Comics with artist Rob Liefeld (Heroes Reborn – Captain America, Onslaught Reborn) who made debut in first volume of New Mutants monthly ongoing series in 1991 and then went on to appear in several comic-book titles for years.

After starring in many limited series with single-serving plots, he gets his own monthly ongoing series by writer Joe Kelly (Emperor Joker, Justice League Elite) and collaborating artist Ed McGuinness (Avengers – X-Sanction, Hulk – Red Hulk) in 1997, which often turned into action comedy stories for comic relief rather than some serious stuff.

The Best Mercenary Ever

Over the years of publications, Wade Wilson has made more deadly enemies than he made friends that he can count on and though his intentions are not always bad, he is often portrayed as an anti-hero. He would mostly go pick up fights with bad guys who are way out of his league but will manage to take them down in the end somehow anyway.

Even after all that blood in his resume, he somehow pulled off being a member of Uncanny Avengers and mutant superhero team of the X-Men for at least once. In motion picture, the character is portrayed by actor Ryan Reynolds in X-Men Origins – Wolverine in 2009 first and then later in his R-rated live-action solo Deadpool movie in 2016.

The solo movie became an impressive Box-Office success worldwide and triggered for a sequel. Reynolds eventually returns with Deadpool 2 in 2018 which also stars actor Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz to portray Cable and Domino respectively in the cinematic debut of these characters and a very short-lived version of X-Force at the same time.

Venom | Comics

An alien symbiote from Battleworld found Spider-Man as a human host and then latched to Eddie Brock and became the  most wicked of web-slingers; Venom!

The alien symbiote that bonds with a host and grant them superhuman abilities is an extraterrestrial species known as Klyntar came from Planet of the Symbiotes from a remote sector of Andromeda Galaxy. It's very first host tried to unleash a genocide using its power and it horrified them as one of Agents of the Cosmos.

Later, alien arms-dealer Haze Mancer would capture it in an attempt to weaponize by increasing aggression within it but Klyntar managed to escape from his grasp. Then Symbiote Imperium had it contained in a prison fearing contamination of gene pool that would eventually make way to Beyonder's Secret Wars.

Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars
It first came in contact with freelance mercenary Deadpool, whose time in Battleworld is forgotten to everyone. After he wore it for a brief time, Wade Wilson realizes the suit being alive and then left it believing his own insanity might affect the mind of this sentient alien being before Spider-Man came in for a costume change.

As he was trying to repair his own suit, the symbiote covered his entire body by forming a new black and white costume similar to the one previously worn by the second Spider-Woman Julia Carpenter. He also discovered soon that his new suit is capable of generating clothes for him as well as much stronger webbing.

Saga of Alien Costume
Back on Earth, Spidey realized after a while that his new costume is a sentient "Friend" from outer space and even causing him to act aggressively as it was affecting his emotions. When he approached the Fantastic Four regarding this growing issue, Reed Richards informed him that it wishes to bond with him permanently.

Learning its vulnerability to both sound and flame helped them removing it from Spidey using powerful sonic waves. It escaped and hid into his closet by disguising as his regular red and blue costume. Peter then permanently got rid of it on bell tower of Our Lady of Saints Church after the symbiote forcibly tried to bond with him again.

Deadpool: Back in Black
This act of rejection however develops a natural bitterness in it which is also passed into the symbiote’s future hosts. While Peter thought he finally destroyed it, through floor cracks Klyntar escapes and took time recovering. When attacked by alien bounty hunters Killer Thrill, Guzz, and Coldwar, it sought out Deadpool to bond with him again.

This trio of villains was hired by an Elder of the Universe named The Collector to bring the symbiote to him. Though merging with Wade Wilson saved it from being captured by those aliens, they were emotionally incompatible to co-exist and Klyntar had to leave him to go to the church it came from and prey on its next host.

Birth of a Monster
Reporter Eddie Brock was suffering with serious health issues which caused him severe anxiety. As one of his front-page exclusives on Sin-Eater blows up on his face, he got fired. Because of Spider-Man apprehending the villain and revealing what Brock insisted on was wrong, he lost his job at Daily Globe and blindly starts blaming the hero.

After a few failed suicide attempts, he starts visiting Our Lady of Saints Church regularly to ask for forgiveness from God and came in contact with the alien symbiote. It soon merges with him and took the name Venom, thus a new villain for Spider-Man was born.

His intense rage and hatred towards Spidey for troubling hm helped Klyntar bond with him on both mental and physical level. In fact, all that anger actually corrupted the being, which become ever more ferocious and bloodthirsty than it already was. Although the symbiote had a desire to bond with Peter again, he now wants to kill him instead.

It took only a while for Brock to figure out that he now possess all of Spider-Man's incredible powers and because of his already intimidating physical frame, it became more powerful than ever. Merging with his alien costume also grants him extensive knowledge on his sworn enemy as well as his precious secret identity.

Upon bonding together, Venom often referred to them as "we" noting they are two different beings becoming one. It kept Eddie alive from adrenal cancer which he was previously diagnosed with before running into all these and had a little time to live. This suit could also cancel out Spider-Man's unique spider-sense to sneak attack on him.

Birth of Venom
After taunting Spidey a couple of times, Brock decided to pay a visit to Peter's wife, Mary Jane Watson, who was terrified as a result even though she didn't harm her physically. Parker then confronted Venom with a sonic blaster from Fantastic Four but discovered Eddie has completely bonded with it after subduing his enemy.

Though Peter decided to stop using the weapon on Brock thinking it can kill him, when it caught him off guard, Venom took him to the church bell and webbed him up. With struggle, he came out of his captivity and force Venom to exhaust his webbing to a point where he couldn't regenerate more mass, leading it to be captured in a sonic containment cell.

Lethal Protector
Giving up on chasing Spider-Man and wanting to help people, Eddie Brock moves to San Francisco. He got into a fight with men sent from developer Roland Treece when trying to protect a group of homeless people who welcomed him. In their underground abode, he even tackled two exo-suit Diggers sent by Treece International.

He is soon hounded out by Orwell Taylor and group of hired mercinaries that call themselves "The Jury" for killing his son Hugh Taylor earlier while escaping Vault. He made a deal with Treece to save his skin but got tricked into getting captured.

In a secret compound of Life Foundation, their leader Carlton Drake forced him into spawning five more symbiote offspring Agony, Lasher, Phage, Riot and Scream. Spider-Man came looking for Eddie and together they manage to fend off children of Venom. Brock then heads back to California to save his underground friends from Treece.

New Ways to Die
When Norman Osborn called in his Thunderbolts team to New York, they came to stalk Spider-Man and they started with questioning Peter Parker about his bug-buddy but got nothing from him. Looking for his enemy over the city, Gargan eventually ended up at F.E.A.S.T. Center and then stumbled onto Eddie Brock, former host of the symbiote.

The symbiote tries to merge with Brock once again and he retaliated by turning into Anti-Venom. Gargan and his suit are literally crushed by their reverse counterpart and even "cured" him by completely draining him off. Osborn however, managed to restore his suit back and made him a poisonous counter using the immune system of Freak.

These two have a rematch and Gargan stung Brock with the poison that nearly killed Anti-Venom but his suit still refused to kill Eddie. This gave the white substance time to recover and it strikes back to destroy the Scorpion suit. When Osborn initiated a self-destruct sequence, they had to postpone the fight and leave to settle this some other day.

Red Goblin
When Norman Osborn bonded to Carnage symbiote and become Red Goblin, he savagely beat Spidey down before leaving him with a warning to go after his loved ones if he doesn't stop playing hero. Meanwhile, Venom showed up at Stark Tower to protect Mary Jane after J. Jonah Jameson tipped off Eddie Brock but only to spook her unwittingly.

Brock did his best to hold Red Goblin off until Spider-Man arrived and they overpowered the maniac but he managed to hurt MJ before leaving. As he tries to follow Osborn, Eddie lends his suit to fight the hybrid Goblin and even though hesitant, Spidey wore the black costume once again to defeat his worst enemy wrapped in another symbiote.

First off, he saved Liz Allan from falling off and then drove Osborn away from Harry and Liz. When Osborn electrocutes Flash Thompson as Anti-Venom for ruining his secret plan, Peter screams in rage and become Spider-Venom but Flash urges him to calm down. Before his final fight with Goblin, he drops the suit and tells it to return to Eddie.

Rex
Eddie starts having recurring nightmares from Viking Age of a monster and turns out his symbiote was the one having these bad dreams. When trying to take photos of Jack O'Lantern doing an arms deal, he lost control of the suit as it has gone berserk and starts speaking an alien language before being captured by a man named Rex Strickland.

Rex was a member of a Sym-Soldier Program that S.H.I.E.L.D. employed during Vietnam War and asks Venom to help him liberate his comrades. Though reluctant at first, Brock agrees to help him to get answers for his recent nightmares. However, his suit abandons him when he faced the Sym-Soldiers and got impaled in chest by one of them.

A symbiote-dragon called Grendel is awakened that threatens the city and he goes to confront it alone but is attacked by Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Miles mistakes him for the Venom that killed his mother but Eddie manages to convince him otherwise and these two web-slingers team-up to take down the dragon-like creature with Miles' Venom Blast.

Within the beast emerges a pale entity who introduces him as Knull, God of the Symbiotes. He is looking for a missing piece of Grendel to be free from his imprisonment on the other side of cosmos. Upon contacting Knull, Venom unlocked new abilities and confronts Rex, the missing symbiote of Grendel, Tyrannosaurus posing as his original host.

Knowing none of them could single-handedly beat Knull's avatar, they bonded together and faces the symbiote-dragon with an arsenal of high-tech weapons. They connect to the Klyntar hive mind to call Grendel for a final battle and Tyrannosaurus sacrifices itself to kill the beast using a blast furnace while Venom also died off that heat.

Originally introduced on the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, issue #252 from Marvel Comics as a new costume for arachnid superhero Spider-Man in 1984, an alien symbiote that would later take alias of Venom by debuting on issue #300 from 1988 is one of the greatest recurring enemies that everyone’s favorite wall-crawler has ever faced.

Created by artists like David Michelinie, Mike Zeck and Todd McFarlane (Haunt, Image United), Venom eventually became an anti-hero who aside from occasionally teasing Spidey would later become a vigilante as well in his own monthly ongoing comic-book series, after having numerous limited series containing misadventures of his own.

Immense popularity of Venom brought him into many animated adaptation of Spider-Man TV Series and games for decades. He also made a live-action appearance on 2007 live-action film Spider-Man 3, played by actor Topher Grace (Interstellar, Predators) but due to poor character development and bad use of CGI, it was heavily criticized.

Another portrayal of Venom character by actor Tom Hardy (Locke, Warrior) is seen in 2018 live-action Venom movie from Sony Pictures, adapting both "Lethal Protector" and "Planet of the Symbiotes" arc. Even before release, they have planned o bring Carnage as main villain starring Woody Harrelson (Now You See Me, Zombieland) in sequel.
