Suicide Squad – Going Sane | Comics

Despite President Obama's constant warnings, Amanda Waller re-assembles her notorious secret project Task Force X, putting a reluctant Colonel Rick Flag in charge of the team this time. Flag led the team of Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Enchantress, Harley Quinn, Katana and Killer Croc to an undersea prison in Russia to acquire a very powerful cosmic item by fighting their meta-humans of Annihilation Brigade.

It turned out to be a giant Orb called "The Black Vault" and they unexpectedly encounters a very notorious Kryptonian despot; General Zod while doing so. Although Zod is more than capable of holding his own against the Man of Steel, Suicide Squad members actually proved to be slightly overwhelming for him when they fought against him as a team.

They even managed to subdue him after having some causality among their rank and taking quite a beating. Enchantress caused him a lot of trouble with her magic but seeing Katana's soultaker sword having some power over him, Colonel Flag used it to wound and capture him. The entire Squad is then directly teleported to Belle Reve Penitentiary by their newest member Hack.

The Black Vault is brought into their compound and in accordance with government's Superman Protocols; Director Waller's scientists begin their experiments on Zod by exposing him to artificial red sunlight. Soon as she revealed her plan to use General Zod as a new Suicide Squad member, Rick lost his cool over this and shot at her.

Thanks to Katana, Waller is saved at the nick of time as she deflected the bullet. It appears that, upon pulling out Zod from the Orb, from every other super-villains to guards on duty, everyone in Belle Reve suddenly has got into some sort of blood-lust and trying to kill each other.

Although Waller was never being shot by Flag, he sees her dead and then she knocks him back to sense by head butting him. Amidst all these chaos, nut job extraordinaire Harley Quinn somehow lost her insanity and became sane again.

This probably happened because; she was already full crazy, so maybe effects of the Orb actually worked reverse on her psychology. Now, she made it her won mission to revert back everyone to normal again and clear this madly influence of The Black Vault. Lights went out suddenly and now, Katana goes full berserk on an aggressive crowd.

June Moone gets out of her cell only to get bitten in her neck by Killer Croc and Hack gets a surprise visit from an apparition of Digger Harkness. As the entire facility goes into a frenzy, now Harley is the only one left to save the world, while Deadshot, El Diablo, Katana and Killer Croc is all after taking her life.

The worst case of them all was yet to happen as one of the crazy scientists broke the red sun generator and put it out of commission. Now, General Zod is about to wake up any moment to go out on a killing spree as power is still down and there's nothing to restrain him.

Suicide Squad – Going Sane

As DC Rebirth has already caught up with DC Universe, Suicide Squad has returned with their second storyline "Going Sane". The plotline is comprised of issues #05-08 from fifth ongoing Suicide Squad monthly series.

Though writer Rob Williams (Martian Manhunter – The Epiphany, Unfollow) mainly collaborated with one of DC's finest artist Jim Lee (Batman – Hush, Divine Right) on the core-story, artists Carlos D'Anda (JLA – Kid Amazo, Outsiders – Wanted), Christian Ward (Iron Man, New Avengers), Giuseppe Camuncoli (Amazing Spider-Man, Superior Spider-Man), Sean Galloway and Stephen Byrne worked on back-up stories of each issues.

The Looney Squad

Instead of fighting on a secret mission or a band of super-terrorist organization, Task Force X just hassles with their latest capture of a long-time Superman arch-nemesis who got loose on a destructive rampage. Then every other resident of Belle Reve gone nuts after they brought in a cosmic Orb called The Black Vault.

We witness some really unique moments like Harley Quinn regaining her sanity, Rick Flag trying to murder Waller and Amanda Waller fighting back the maddening effects of the Orb. This plot then simply leads to 2017's major crossover event of DC Comics; "Justice League Vs. Suicide Squad".

She holds a gun at Joker and threatens to shoot him if he doesn’t stop immediately and he offers her a deal for which he will leave them both alone. So she is all set up to face Batman in Ace Chemical Plant (Batman – Death of the Family) as Joker’s demand.
