Suicide Squad – Basilisk Rising | Comics
As her pudding The Joker goes missing (Detective Comics – Faces of Death), Harley Quinn gets crazier than normal and orchestrated a prison break at Belle Reve (Suicide Squad – Kicked in the Teeth), leading Amanda Waller ordering a hunt for her. So, Deadshot is sent to Gotham City with the other squad members to re-capture the rogue Harley Quinn. Meanwhile, Harley stole the carved out face of Joker and fought Savant before taking an unconscious Deadshot captive with her. She placed Joker’s face over Deadshot’s and started recalling her days with him and using this misdirection, Deadshot shoots her in the gut. As all the members of Task Force X is brought back to Belle Reve and prepped up for their brand new missions, Waller checks on their current status.

When Superman showed up in public nearly a year ago, a cult was formed then who believed that they are the good guys in the new age of heroes and villains. They obey the serpent; The Basilisk and draws strength from him. The Basilisk believes that Amanda Waller is the true enemy of the cult and she needs to be eradicated. So, they sent one of their followers to infiltrate the group and kill Waller when they least expect it. The Squad is then sent to Metropolis to kill the Resurrection Man without drawing Superman’s attention. Following that mission, the Suicide Squad is sent after the cult leader of the Basilisk and when the killin' time comes, a traitor among the squad is about to be unmasked.

After completing their first mission, Task Force X is back in the new volume from their adventure titled ‘Basilisk Rising’. Writer Adam Glass (Flashpoint – Legion of Doom, Deadpool – Suicide Kings) returns teaming up with artist Fernando Dagnino in this second story which took place on the fourth volume of the monthly ongoing series of Suicide Squad, collecting issues #08-13. While Dagnino was doing illustrations for the inner pages artist Ken Lashley has done the covers of each issues. The story is taken to a bit higher ground than its predecessor as a new member joins the ranks of the squad and a traitor hidden among them is also revealed, which leads us to the ‘Death is for Suckers’ storyline.
