Hulk – Asunder | Comics

Separated from his alter ego Doctor Bruce Banner during the unpleasant skirmish of Fear Itself, the Hulk starts living into the depths of Subterranea now. On the surface world, he was always feared and he never really understood if he was a hero or a monster. Here, he fights the good fight with the dangerous creature and monster that come into his way. Free from Banner's persona, he is now Hulk forever and knows exactly what he is.

Down here, he lives with a moloid tribe who are celebrating the green goliath's presence among them. Even though the elder of the tribe assures Hulk an undisturbed stay in here, he is not quite convinced yet. The welcome party for Hulk is soon interrupted by the unexpected arrival of a secret government sponsored team with their robotic drones and drills to eliminate mad scientists, called the Mad Squad, led by Amanda Von Doom.

Amanda seeks out Hulk's assistance in their current mission and that is to stop the now unstable scientist Bruce Banner who has become a great problem for them. Bruce is restlessly trying to re-invent the Incredible Hulk, which he believes is one of his greatest achievements over the years, by experimenting on various creatures on the island laboratory and turning every type of animal into gamma-irradiated monsters, causing menace to the people around.

Amanda is on charge of the operation to take Banner down for good. Hulk shows no interest in her cause and turns her down. But later, when his newly found adoptive family of moloids is attacked by Banner's creatures; a bipedal gamma-irradiated warthog duo called 26 and 27, Hulk decides to help Amanda on one condition; to face Bruce Banner by himself and finish all of this madness for good.

A date with his wife Betty Ross goes sore when she finds out that Banner actually came to a deserted tropical island for his own research purpose. He started his work there which was a neuclear testing site from the 50's. When his continuous effort of bringing out the Hulk from within fails, Banner entertains the idea of creating the gamma-bomb that gave birth to the green goliath in the first place.

After being released by the Red Skull’s daughter, The Serpent, a god of Asgard culminates "The American Blitzkrieg" era, causing a massive spread of fear around Earth. The Serpent also summoned seven divine hammers on Earth that transformed a group of former super-villains and heroes alike into the lieutenant of his cause, dubbed as The Worthy. Just like the few other super villains, Paul Duval AKA The Grey Gargoyle has turned into one of the Worthies, now calling himself as Mokk; breaker of faith. Now with his newly found unmatched powers, Mokk reaches to the city of lights, Paris and after reaching there, he is doing what he does best, turning people into stone.

The ultimate man of science Tony Stark heads to Paris on news of rampage there caused by Mokk and to face him as Invincible Iron Man. But with horror, he sees the entire city is turned into stone by Mokk with his power as Grey Gargoyle. A shocked Iron Man attacked Mokk with no actual success while Tony kept hitting him hard and it seems like Mokk was expecting a better fight from him. Tony’s rival Detroit Steel tried to stop Mokk’s rampage with the cost of his own life. Tony sees no apparent way to fight the mystically powered Worthies but to apply the same manner on them. So, he asks Odin Allfather’s help and blessings to the battlefield. Despite all of this, he also got back to his old drinking habit and if he can get a hold of that, he have to worry about the mischievous Smoke Elves sent by The Serpent.

Now on the Dark Reign period, he took the place of Spider-Man in Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers as Sinister Spider-Man. Though Osborn has a positive image of him and his team to maintain, Gargan goes out to play hero when he met another second string villain General Wolfram robbing a bank. He stops Wolfram with almost no effort at all, to impress by standing girls to take out and steals the money of loot from Wolfram after chewing his hand off for no apparent good reason.

He then goes to a stripper club to spend the loot, where he found a stripper to fall for named Cherri and then calling her Candy, Gargan took her with him to the Avengers Tower. But upon having a conversation about his reckless behavior with Osborn, he kills the stripper later and set her body to the apartment of J. Jonah Jameson; Mayor of New York City, to frame him. As Jonah approached Osborn regarding the matter, Gargan is sent to help him up. Meanwhile, a group called “The Redeemers” visits Wolfram to join them along with The Redeemer, Hippo, Doctor Everything, Dementoid and Eleven; villains who formerly lost limbs to the Sinister Spider-Man and wants revenge on him.
