Batman – Dark Victory | Comics

As an attempt of a peace-offering to Sofia Gigante Falcone, Pino and Umberto Maroni staged a massive breakout at Arkham Asylum to kill the former District Attorney Harvey Dent, now reformed and known as the psychotic villain named Two-Face but fails eventually. Mario Falcone approaches Bruce Wayne with a proposal to do legitimate business with Wayne Enterprises with almost no success.

Janice Porter has become the new District Attorney in Dent's absence and working alongside Commissioner James Gordon. A mysterious serial killer called the "Hungman" starts terrorizing the Gotham City by hanging corrupt police officers. Batman interrogates Edward Nygma but even The Riddler has not the slightest idea about who the killer is or who it might be.

At some point in the beginning, Two-Face was the prime suspect but even he was not responsible for these murders. A young circus acrobat Dick Grayson, who lost his parents to a mob battle that started due to circumstances of the "Hungman" killer, is later adopted by Batman to be his crime-fighting partner.

So, young Dick becomes his new trusty sidekick; Robin, The Boy Wonder. At the nick of time Commissioner Jim Gordon is saved by Two-Face from being hanged by the killer, who in fact was not a corrupted cop. Harvey Dent recruits The Joker, Scarecrow, The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, The Mad Hatter and Solomon Grundy to his gang and instead of being clear, the mystery grows even gritty and darker by each passing moment.

Absolute Batman – Dark Victory

Batman – Dark Victory is a fourteen issue limited series that was published by DC Comics in 2000. Writer Jeph Loeb (Batman – HushEmperor Joker) delivers the plot and artist Tim Sale (Batman – Haunted Knight, Challengers of the Unknown Must Die) served as the penciller. Dark Victory is a sequel to Batman – The Long Halloween, by the same creators. Dark Victory probably took place in the third or fourth year of The Dark Knight's crime fighting career.
