Star Wars – Darth Vader – Fortress Vader | Comics

Emperor Palpatine grants Darth Vader a planet to rule on and he goes back to Mustafar to establish a fortress of his own.

Along with Fifth Brother and two other Inquisitors, Darth Vader tracks down former Jedi Master Eeth Koth in a distant planet right after his wife gives birth to a daughter. He tries to reason with the Sith Lord by stating he has now become a priest of the Church of the Ganthic Enlightenment and therefore, poses no threat to anyone.

Since Vader is not interested in the whereabouts of surviving Jedi members, Koth decides to halt his enemy while making a way for his wife Mira to escape with their newborn daughter. Sending the Inquisitors after her, the Sith engages the former Jedi in a fight and Koth died during a moment of pause when they brought back the child.

On Coruscant, Vader handed over Koth's child to two nursemaids and meet with Grand Inquisitor shortly, who informs that there are still a few surviving Jedi that they have to wait to find out. Spending some time in his meditation chamber, the Dark Lord of the Sith sensed a connection among two of his Inquisitors at their Headquarters.

As they two were talking about him, Vader stood next to him and then lashed his lightsaber to the female only for the male to respond in defense before making a break for it. When his chase to apprehend these two led to a wide-scale chaos through Coruscant and death of a senator, Emperor Palpatine summons him for such madness.

After scolding him for his reckless behavior that caused widespread havoc, Palpatine decides to present him Naboo Royal Starship, which belonged to Padmé Amidala. When he asked Vader to travel to Alderaan and pay visit to senator Bail Organa, his apprentice refused to do so unless he is given a world and his master agrees to his wish.

However, despite his strong connection to Naboo and Tatooine from past, he asked to be given Mustafar, a world where he was defeated and left for dead. Before leaving Coruscant, Sidious gave away a powerful dark artifact called Mask of Lord Momin as a parting gift to his pupil and sent his Imperial architect, to build a facility over there.

With Colonel Alva Brenne and Lieutenant Roggo at his side, he attempts to enter an extremely fiery atmosphere of Mustafar in his Naboo starship without even activating the shields. Of course it was less than a pleasant experience for his fellow passengers, they made it and Brenne got an idea of what might interest Vader after all.

Upon landing, he goes inside a cave to study a mystery he has been chasing for long and Brenne gets to work. Her initial design was declined but right after she got back, Vader heard a scream and found Roggo wearing the Mask of Lord Momin. He is immediately taken down with a lightsaber strike but left behind an interesting design.

It appears that whatever he left behind was able to somewhat reflects a vision the Sith Lord had in mind. So, he makes it talk and learns about Lord Momin before his eventual downfall at the hands of two Jedi. Darth Vader then grabs an insectoid sentient Mustafarian native from outside to grant his consciousness a body to work with.

They both talk about Momin's design that serves as a key, a Force Locus to a locked door to Dark Side. The latter promises him that his beloved wife waits for him on the other side only to anger him further as he has been fed false promises too many times but Momin promises to deliver it because it will allow him to create a masterpiece.

Mustafar Will Burn

Latest Star Wars spin-off series focused on Darth Vader has explored unknown territories and introduced new characters to unfold age-old mysteries. One of its recent additions is the Mask of Lord Momin and an entire dark legacy behind it.

Starting right after the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, it depicts his rise to power and even echoed dubious thoughts of the Sith Lord about his course of action at times. Most prominent revelation Vader came across during "Fortress Vader" is an old notion about his unnatural birth and it was pretty uncanny to be true.

Star Wars – Darth Vader – The Burning Seas | Comics

Even after Galactic Empire is established, rebellion is still formed and Sidious sends Lord Vader to restore order.

From his final moments of encounter with his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi as Anakin Skywalker on the surface of fiery planet Mustafar, Darth Vader was reliving the whole event from an all-new point during his meditation.

The Emperor interrupts by calling him over the comms to his throne room to discuss his plans of establishing the supremacy of the Empire among the galaxy. Vader is asked to visit Mon Cala to thoroughly investigate and teach them a lesson for disobedience if necessary.

Darth Sidious believes that there might still be a surviving Jedi who is advising the King of negotiation tactics and wants his apprentice to check on it while he hands over the military operation aspects to Grand Moff, Wilhuff Tarkin.

As he was discussing possible strategies if they had to engage, Imperial ambassador Telvar was unsuccessfully trying to negotiate a trade deal with King Lee-Char of Mon Cala. When he was leaving, Vader arrived shortly in a Zeta-class shuttle along with his Inquisitors and death troopers.

Upon being questioned by Admiral Ackbar for their reasons to be here, Vader states to be looking for an enemy of the Empire but Ackbar simply denies any possibility of that only to witness Telvar's shuttle explode. This prompted the invading force and the Dark Lord of Sith to siege Dac City, where Lee-Char is apprehended for interrogation.

Just as their defenses were failing against the Imperial force, two whale-like creatures arose from the bottom of the ocean, creating massive tidal waves that wreck the city.

The Tenth Brother and Ninth Sister of Inquisitors immediately try to shield the wave before Vader joined them but despite their efforts, they all were drowned. Below, he discovers himself under heavy external pressure of water but creates an air bubble around him with Force.

Soon, he is attacked by a squid-like creature that he killed and reached an Imperial submarine. Though the Ninth Sister was able to learn of the whereabouts of the Jedi from Lee-Char, Lord Vader is disappointed at them for failing to kill him.

Meanwhile, the hidden Jedi, Ferren Barr is fascinated about how the Sith has taken control over the galaxy and also reveal his knowledge of Darth Vader actually being former Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to his loyal bad of acolytes.

Learning of Vader coming to hunt them down, Barr assembles his followers for a quick evacuation but unfortunately crosses paths with the enemy. Tarkin requests assistance from the Sith Lord in capturing King Lee-Char and it would finally led him to a confrontation with Jedi Barr.

This is third time in a row that the titular Dark Lord of Sith goes against a lesser known Jedi that possess a threat to the Empire. References to "Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" were mentioned during the story.

A subtle but very important nod to Jedi Purge is also played out brilliantly that brought a new and unexpected twist to story development. The bonus one-part story that comes after the actual conflict between Grand Moff Tarkin and Vader himself in a quest to hunt the latter down.

Star Wars – Darth Vader – Legacy's End | Comics

Following the Jedi Purge, librarian Jocasta Nu took it upon herself to save their legacy while fighting Darth Vader.

Betrayed, beaten, badly burden and completely heartbroken, Anakin Skywalker was left withered and dying on the fiery surface of planet Mustafar by his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi until he was rescued by his new master Darth Sidious.

After patching him up and giving him a new cybernetic suit to contain his body, his master informs him that his wife Padmé is no more and he must choose a path. So, he sent Darth Vader on a quest to retrieve a lightsaber from a Jedi to claim as his own and his apprentice got one by defeating Master Kirak Infil'a on the river moon of Al'doleem.

The Emperor then sent him to the Jedi Temple Archives to deal with an intruder and there he encounters a stranger with red lightsaber. When Vader was about to deliver a finishing blow to him after besting his opponent in combat, Palpatine intervenes.

He reveals to his scholar that the fighter he bested was The Grand Inquisitor and there are several others whom he assembled to hunt down Jedi members. All of them are then placed under Lord Vader's command and their leader informs him of a list of Jedi surviving Order 66.

The one who topped the list was the Jedi Temple librarian, Jocasta Nu and while The Grand Inquisitor still wonders how she can be a threat to Galactic Empire, Vader decides to pursue her. So, tasking him to fins a connection to her, the Dark Lord of Sith goes to see his master for answers regarding this Jedi librarian.

What he learns that she knows every details from the light side of the force to the dark side as well. Also, she was a guardian of something that can help shape the future of The Empire and so, she needs to be captured alive.

Though most of the Jedi perished during the execution of Order 66, Jocasta Nu somehow survived and now she is recording holocrons to preserve the Order. After summing up a whole collection, she leaves it behind to her assistant Gar for the next generation of Jedi.

However, she insists that there is still something back at Jedi Temple in Coruscant that she needs to get back. Being a Force-sensitive human, she managed her way into the temple by playing mind tricks on Clone troopers on guard to access the archives.

As she secretly enters her former workplace, she goes into a secret vault holding a database containing information on every Force-sensitive child in it. When returning, she engaged The Grand Inquisitor in a fight seeing him disrespecting sacred books of the library and just when he cornered her to finish her off; his lord arrives at the last moment to stop him from doing that.

Darth Vader asks Jocasta Nu to surrender and promises not to harm her but the self-righteous Jedi would rather die than getting caught.

What happened in between was explored never before and so, comic-book writer Charles Soule (Death of Wolverine – The Logan Legacy, Death of Wolverine – The Weapon X Program) and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli (Amazing Spider-Man, Superior Spider-Man) were brought on board to dig out Vader's mysterious past.

The new creative-duo behind the story decides to shed some light on a character from Prequel Trilogy as well as The Clone Wars. The Jedi librarian of Jedi Archives, Jocasta Nu first appeared on "Attack of the Clones" and was portrayed by Alethea McGrath.

Though her role in her debut media was relatively short, this story does some justice to her lesser known character by revealing what greater task she was burdened with during the Jedi Purge. Much like previous storyline "Imperial Machine", this book also gives a slight glimpse of Vader's change of heart.

Star Wars – Darth Vader – Imperial Machine | Comics

Before he became the fearsome Dark Lord of Sith, Darth Vader took a journey for his legendary red lightsaber.

Right after his transforming into Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker was defeated and his disfigured body was left on volcanic planet Mustafar by his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Sidious then came to retrieve his burnt body and placed it in a cybernetic suit to save his life at that moment.

As he gained consciousness, Vader learns that his wife Padmé is no more and now he is left with pain and rage in his life. Palpatine asks him whether he wants to live with this pain or just simply die and Anakin expresses his wish to live only to be struck by his masters' powerful Force-lightning.

Palpatine asks Vader to defend himself with his lightsaber but he states that he has already lost it on Mustafar. After warning him never to touch him again with the Force, Sidious suggests that Vader let go of his personal vendetta and peruse serving Galactic Empire for greater good.

He explains to his apprentice how both Jedi and Sith have different color of lightsaber and how to turn one into red. He drops Lord Vader on a desert planet of Mid Rim to set on a journey to find out a Jedi and take his lightsaber from him.

Darth Vader goes looking for his ship to reclaim it from a group of pirates that was prepared for him by The Emperor and was stolen earlier. He visits a nearby Jedi outpost on Brighthome for some information he needed to start his quest, which was guarded by clone troopers.

He killed them all for blowing off some steam instead of providing them security codes to pass. Vader looked for any Jedi who have taken the Barash vow before Order 66 and found it in Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a who is residing on river moon of Al'doleem.

Master Infil'a has already sensed that a Dark Lord of Sith is coming for him and as soon as Vader sees him, he unsuccessfully tries to Force choke Infil'a, who threw him off balance by hitting him with a Force blast in counter attack. The Jedi invited The Dark Lord on top of mountain before unleashing currents of a river flowing on him.

Cutting a way through using the Force, Vader conquered all obstacles thrown at him and eventually confronted the seasoned Jedi Master in a brief battle. He is quickly defeated by Master Infil'a and then gets thrown from top of the mountain.

Vader reassembles his cybernetic body with scrap parts using the Force to face Master Infil'a in a final battle this time. Thinking the Sith Lord has finally perished, Infil'a was preparing to go on a hunt for Vader's true master to put an end to Sith but then he realized that his enemy has survived somehow.

Now, Vader challenges the Jedi Master once again and fought him with ruthless efficiency. Once he is done, he still has to bleed the kyber crystal he took out from the fallen Jedi's lightsaber to complete his weapon for a few more tasks left to complete for his master.

Star Wars – Darth Vader – Imperial Machine

The second monthly ongoing volume of Darth Vader starts publishing from Marvel Comics in 2017 and first story arc of the series is titled "Imperial Machine". The story contains issues #01-06 from Star Wars spin-off series featuring Vader and is set almost immediately after the events of "Revenge of the Sith".

The Lost Jedi Master

"Imperial Machine" features a self-exiled Jedi Master named Kirak Infil'a, whom many has never even heard of and he is the first Jedi that Vader has fought right after his body was encased in a cybernetic suit. Also, this story explores an interesting theme on colors of the lightsaber that Jedi or Sith wields.

When Vader was trying to corrupt kyber crystal within the lightsaber he took from Infil'a, it showed him a different reality of what could've actually happened but The Dark Lord of Sith refuses that idea and sticked to his vengeful path.

Han Solo | Comics

A young human orphan from Corellia, who grew up to be galaxies' most notorious smuggler, Han Solo used to work for Jabba the Hutt after finishing the Kessel Run within twelve parsecs. He mostly hangs out with his Wookiee best-bud Chewbacca, who is also his first mate aboard the Millennium Falcon ship and has a friendly rivalry going on with fellow smuggler Lando Calrissian. His life was completely changed when he agreed to take young Luke Skywalker, veteran Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and their droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to Alderaan system for a pretty hefty payment.

Solo lost his parents in a very early age and rose by pirate Garris Shrike along with his crew before he finally escaped as a teen. From then, Han started out as an outlaw smuggler, working for his own interests. He had a short history with Bria Tharen of the Rebel Alliance until she left him for the sake of her duties. When he saved a Wookiee named Chewbacca from the internment of an Imperial officer, it became his closest ally and swore a life debt to the outlaw. The Millennium Falcon actually belonged to Lando, which Han won in a gamble and used for his future endeavors.

Han Solo | Comics

A New Hope
Solo and Chewbacca were at Cantina looking for some ways to pay off his debts to Jabba or he is in trouble. When former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi approached him for a safe passage to the Alderaan system with Luke Skywalker and the droids, Han charged them more than his usual. Surprisingly, Obi-Wan raised his bid before leaving the place, offering more than what was asked for and that made Han quickly accept the job. Seeing a way to finally pay Jabba the Hutt, he sends Chewbacca to get the ship ready. Before leaving the Cantina, Solo came across bounty hunter Greedo and shot him first.

He soon is confronted by Jabba with his bounty hunter Boba Fett and barely managed to convince them to let him go so he can repay the Hutt. As they were about to leave, Stormtroopers shot at them but Solo ditched them and two Imperial Star Destroyers as they jumped into hyperspace. Although, a non-believer of the Force, Han witnessed its power when he saw Obi-Wan training Luke but still remained skeptical. The band reached to Alderaan systems when it was already destroyed and discovered the Imperial space station, Death Star, which pulled them in.

Darth Vader ordered the Stormtroopers to search the ship and Han Solo took them down to go looking for Princess Leia in their guise with Luke. After rescuing Princess Leia Organa, he eventually got involved with the Rebellion to oppose The Empire. Obi-Wan sacrifice himself in a lightsaber duel with Vader so that they could escape in Millennium Falcon to Yavin IV. Although Han wanted to leave right away after collecting his payment, he eventually fought alongside the rebels in the Battle of Yavin before Luke destroyed the Death Star for the Rebellion.

The Empire Strikes Back
Three years after blowing up the Death Star, the Rebellion has moved to ice planet of Hoth and Han Solo goes looking for a missing Luke. He finds Luke unconscious and managed to rescue him after keeping his friend from freezing to death. Upon convinced by bounty hunter Ord Mantell, Han finally decides to pay his debt to Jabba the Hutt but Princess Leia thought he was leaving and requests him to stay with the rebels. Han thought Leia romantic feelings, which resulted in a heated conversation.

Han Solo and Chewbacca found and destroyed one of the probe droids employed by Vader but by then, it has managed to inform Imperial fleet about the rebels. Darth Vader heads toward Hoth with reinforcements and the rebels attempt to retreat beyond outer rim. When the Sith Lord arrived on Hoth, Leia is rescued by Han and escaped in Millennium Falcon alongside C-3PO and Chewbacca. Aboard the ship, Han and Leia shared a passionate kiss before ditching the Imperial fleet into an asteroid field.

Unable to make a hyperspace jump, Han Solo land on an asteroid to repair the ship but the threat of space slug Exogorth forced them to flee to Cloud City. There, Han and his group are welcomed by his old friend Lando Calrissian, who runs the place. Meanwhile, Vader summons a few bounty hunters to bring the Millennium Falcon to him and Boba Fett eventually tracks them to Cloud City. Lando lured Han, Leia and Chewbacca to a room where Darth Vader was already waiting for them. Since he planned to put Luke into suspended animation, Vader froze Han in carbonite and handed him over to Boba Fett.

Return of the Jedi
Frozen in carbonite, Han Solo is taken to Jabba's Palace by bounty hunter Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt kept him as his most favorite trophy. Following his previous battle with Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and his friends came to rescue Han from captivity. Whatever ruse he tried with Jabba didn't quite catch on and upon discovering that they all are here to free Han, he condemned them to Sarlacc pit. Han was still experiencing temporary blindness because of the hibernation and in the ensuing chaos; he shot Fett's jetpack, sending him into Sarlacc.

Back at his feet, Han joined forces with the rebellion once again and by this time, The Empire has already built the second Death Star. Han became General Solo during the Battle of Endor and led the rebels to blow up the shield generator of Imperial super-weapon. On the forest moon of Endor, their group had a run-in with Ewoks tribe, who eventually helped the rebels in their mission. Seeing the strong resolve of his son for him, Vader manages to kill Darth Sidious to save Luke and following the destruction of the second Death Star, Han and Leia finally reunites.

The Force Awakens
Galactic Empire has fallen thirty years ago and now The First Order is menacing the galaxy, while General Leia Organa oppose them with the Resistance at her side. An elderly Han Solo and Chewbacca pulled the Millennium Falcon with a tractor beam after finding it on Jakku, only to discover scavenger Rey, former First Order Stormtrooper Finn and droid unit BB-8 inside his ship. These three were running from Imperial Troops looking for the droid, who now has the map leading to the location of self-exiled Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, whom both the The First Order and Leia is looking for.

Han and Leia had a son named Ben Solo, a Force-sensitive child who was sent to the newly built Jedi Temple of Luke Skywalker to train with him. However, the boy was seduced by Supreme Leader Snoke of the First Order to the dark side and he ultimately became a Sith Lord named Kylo Ren. Han then went back to smuggling and returns years later to help the Resistance take down the First Order after coming to meet Leia. With Chewbacca, Finn and Rey, Solo goes to his final mission at Starkiller Base, where he confronts his son to reach out to him only to be stabbed by a lightsaber and fall to his death.
