DC Universe Online – Legends | Comics
Following an all-out brawl between JLA and the League of Super-Villains led by criminal mastermind Lex Luthor, all are massacred but Lex Luthor, Superman and The Joker. But Superman finally met his fate with Luthor impaling him with a Kryptonite spear after tricking him and claiming his years of yearning victory over the lifeless body of Man of Steel at last. But as he does so, he notices a warship armada of Brainiac starts entering Earth’s atmosphere without any super-hero left to oppose him. Brainiac starts unleashing exobytes all over the planet to turn humanity into a force of meta-humans under his command, informing Lex that once he is done collecting all data on Earth, he will eventually destroy it and then takes control over Lex’s exo-suit.

With help from a dying Black Adam, a desperate Luthor frees himself from Brainiac's control over him and escapes via an emergency pod. He is able to gather few remaining super-heroes and villains including The Atom, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Cheetah, Doctor Fate, Mr. Freeze and Power Girl to make a final stand against Brainiac and eventually made a direct hit on him but Brainiac overpowers them. Seven years ago in the present, Brainiac has also launched an attack on Earth allied with Luthor and thwarts JLA badly with crippling the Superman of the present and ruining his reputation in public. Amidst all chaos, the grand conspiracy of an invasion on Earth is plotted and when all others have fallen, only Batman seems to have what it takes to stop this invasion.

"DC Universe Online - Legends" is a 26 issue limited series published by DC Comics on 2011 to serve as a tie-in to massively popular "DC Universe Online" video game title's core plotline. Writer Marv Wolfman (Crisis on Infinite Earths, Deathstroke the Terminator), who also co-written the video game’s story with Tony Bedard served as the storyteller along with popular artist Howard Porter (Underworld Unleashed, Trials of Shazam), Adriana Melo, Norman Lee, Mike Miller and Bruno Redondo. The series took place in an alternate timeline similar to DC’s mainstream continuity and explores the event in details. There the characters have almost all the similarities in their source of origin but the story of the series sets everything apart from its path and thus a new timeline with an alternate reality begins.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again (Hardcover)

Plotted out and drawn by popular comic-book writer/artist Frank Miller (All-Star Batman and Robin, The Dark Knight III – The Master Race), The Dark Knight Strikes Again is a three part limited series sequel to "The Dark Knight Returns" limited series by the same creator. This successful story was published by DC Comics in 2001 after fifteen years of its predecessor. Although its previous installment was able to gain more publicity and critical acclaim, The Dark Knight Strikes Again mostly failed in that portion compared to its previous installment. Plus, the absence of co-illustrator Klaus Janson is greatly felt when Miller's art came out as plain garbage for everyone's taste.

The Super Couple Reunites

Although, The Dark Knight Returns managed to be considered for adapted into a two-part animation movie of the same name, this sequel probably wasn't considered worthy enough by DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Like all of Batman stories conceived by Miller, the arc is set into Earth-31, an alternate reality of Multiverse, which is considered as non- canonical with DC's pre-Flashpoint publication. He came up with a second sequel, The Dark Knight III – The Master Race almost thirty years after the culmination of the original series with artist Andy Kubert (Batman – Batman and Son, Damian – Son of Batman).

Lex Luthor | Comics

Crawling up his way from the unfriendly neighborhood of Metropolis's Suicide Slum to a successful inventor to the billionaire businessman to the President of United States, Alexander Joseph Luthor is the most powerful man on Earth. He developed an enmity towards Superman, as he worked very hard to reach on top of fame and power but the alien from Krypton got it for free.

Lex Luthor | Comics

Apparently, he used a clone to blame for all of his crimes in early days as well as fooling Supergirl. Apart from antagonizing the Man of Steel, Luthor picked a fight with Bruce Wayne/Batman during the crisis of No Man's Land and then he tried to frame him by hiring David Cain (Bruce Wayne – Fugitive). Luthor struck a deal with Darkseid in the time of Imperiex War by delivering Doomsday.

Luthor was always aware about Superman’s secret identity but remained silent as it may harm Lois Lane, the only woman he cares for but Manchester Black erased this knowledge from his memory (Ending Battle). He grew extremely arrogant about his adversary and blamed Superman for an oncoming Kryptonite meteor (Public Enemies).

His Earth-Three counterpart was responsible for Infinite Crisis but ended up getting killed by The Joker. He tried to frame his doppelganger for his previous crimes and to get away with the Everyman Project, which also failed (52). Along with many other villains Lex was transported to a prison planet before Final Crisis (Salvation Run). Upon the rise of New Krypton, Luthor accessed the knowledge of Brainiac.
