Clint Barton among all is acting rabidly as he constantly declaring to kill him and can't simply get how his teammates are not supporting him. He is particularly annoyed over Spider-Man not taking out Osborn when he was Green Goblin and had the chance but none of his friends are willing to cross that road he is so eager to go down to.

Osborn is working on a list that he wants taken care of that Ares calls a hit list but he managed to convince God of War otherwise. Later that night, Clint decided to invade Avengers Tower in Ronin costume when he saw The Sentry going out. He breaks into and throws out Mac Gargan AKA Venom, which out the entire building on lockdown.

Barton fired a couple of rounds at current "Hawkeye" when they met before evading Daken and shot an arrow through his head. Clint asked Moonstone for help to kill Osborn when crossing paths with her or to let go but she couldn't comply. He came too close to kill Osborn but is eventually taken out by Ares and ended up being captive.

Hellicarier to rescue Clint. He apologizes to his friends for his actions and Steve Rogers shows up out of nowhere to reassemble them all.

The Hood has returned from his quest for power and offers his gang to buff up with Norn Stones to hunt down Avengers. In Brooklyn, Steve and Bucky gets ambushed by Corruptor and Living Laser but they managed to work it up with unexpected help of Luke Cage, followed by arrival of former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury.

He ran a secret code to see whether or not his old war buddy is a Life Model Decoy and Rogers checks out. The Avengers moved back to their secret base and everyone are astound to see these living legends among them.

Catching up to Carol Danvers and to other friends at their current safe house, Rogers notices a live broadcast on TV of Osborn and his Dark Avengers taking down The Mighty Thor in a siege of Asgard. Steve then angrily asks Bucky and Fury of how many people they have at their side, ready to fight right now and declares Avengers Assemble.

Siege – New Avengers (Hardcover)

Completing an impressive 64 issue run that started back in 2005, writer Brian Michael Bendis (New Avengers – Breakout, New Avengers – Sentry) wraps up first monthly ongoing comic-book series of New Avengers for Marvel Comics in 2010 with "Siege – New Avengers" tit-in storyline, which continued from his previous arc "Powerloss".

Bendis was assisted by artists Bryan Hitch (Age of Ultron, The Ultimates), Marko Djurdjevic, Mike Mayhew, Mike McKone and Stuart Immonen (All-New Captain America – Hydra Ascendant, Ultimate Fantastic Four – Doom) on the story. Immonen worked on cover arts for all four numbered issues involved from regular series run.

"Dark Reign" has been unusual for all heroes to deal with a maniac like Norman Osborn being in charge of everything but he ultimately screws up publicly during "Siege" crossover event, giving Cap and his friends enough reason to strike back at him.

Though Steve Rogers is back in action, his old pal James Bucky Barnes still remains Captain America. It is not shown what really happened of The Sentry when he went full rogue and became a massive threat for everyone after losing total control but a happy conclusion was drawn for all members of New Avengers in finale issue.

New Avengers – Powerloss | Comics

Distrust among The Hood and his gang spreads after his recent fall but they seek out a new leader to defeat New Avengers.

Trying to set a trap for Norman Osborn and his "Dark Avengers", members of New Avengers have found themselves ambushed by The Hood and his gang of criminals. Despite being outnumbered and their power dampener being trashed, they managed to get out alive and it caused a friction among Hood's gang regarding his leadership skills.

When Madame Masque was trying to point out their lack of discipline and short-sightedness, Wrecker corrected her by saying that they are all in for a "gig". He also raised question about how Hood knew that Avengers were here even though it seemed that they were clearly expecting someone else, which creates a rift between them.

Parker Robbins and Wrecker go back and forth about how they both were doing fine than the other. As they all leave, Chemistro found the wrecked power disruptor left behind and took it to Dr. Jonas Harrow. Later at their secret hideout, Hood didn't show up for a payday but then Harrow presents his device and plan to them all.

Bucky Barnes returns to his place to find it as a mess but never got to raise it during their meeting where Clint Barton suggests that they straight out kill Osborn. Spider-Man strongly opposes this idea, which is against his own values as well as Avengers' but Luke Cage proposes that they at least have a discussion about the situation.

Argument between Clint and Spidey started to get heated on Osborn and then Bucky gets a message for an emergency at Times Square. They see Chemistro randomly wrecking havoc on streets and approach him only to fall one by one. Mockingbird was only one left standing and she beat him with shield and gun of Captain America.

Then all four of Wrecking Crew showed up next, which was too much for her even with some help from Ronin and Webhead. As Wrecker was poking Cage, he and his pals are blown away by arrival of Sentry but he too, fell soon to the dampener. Osborn and his cronies join shortly and have a talk with Harrow, who shows up on his armor HUD.

He simply wants to renegotiate a deal with Norman that he previously had with Robbins and he wishes to present him the device in return. To show worth of his word, Harrow took down his Dark Avengers before disassembling Osborn's armor. When a deal is finally made between them, his armor is restored and his team gets back on their feet.

Just when he was about to ask Venom to eat Spider-Man, incoming hit from a Quinjet scattered them all. Bobbi Morse came to rescue her friends out of this mess right on time but Daken claims to have their scent. Luke Cage was not feeling very well and is taken to Night Nurse, who informed them that he is having a cardiac arrest.

Since they couldn't get through his unbreakable skin and needed the disruptor for that, Cage walked over to his enemies and collapsed. He is taken into custody and taken care of while rest of his friends retreated. Back at their secret hideout, his wife Jessica Jones wants to go in for a rescue but Ms. Marvel stops her telling they have a plan.

Earlier, The Hood went after Doctor Strange to take his Eye of Agamotto and ended up fighting New Avengers, which left him badly burnt and without power. Loki came to his aid in hospital offering him another chance and he promptly accepted. He and Madame Masque are led to Cuba in search for a power greater than he ever wielded.

For twelfth storyline of New Avengers monthly comic-book series, Marvel Comics have assigned writer Brian Michael Bendis (House of M, Secret War) and artist Stuart Immonen (All-New Captain America – Hydra Ascendant, Ultimate Fantastic Four – Doom) to work on issues #55-60 from ongoing titular publication back in 2010.

Current narrative of "Powerloss" is set during "Dark Reign" crossover event and takes place almost simultaneously alongside previous story "Search for the Sorcerer Supreme". With a power struggle already tearing up criminal underworld of New York, villains have gotten their hands on a device that can strip anyone of their power.

End of Luke Cage?

After Parker Robbins briefly went away from scene, everyone in his gang has thought him to be gone for good and sided with Dr. Harrow. He arranges and demonstrates a show of what he can offer to Norman Osborn before handing him that device. The Avengers were caught in a trap without even knowing but then made it out eventually.

Only one greatly affected by that machine was Luke Cage, who needed a heart surgery and had to go back to Osborn. Though they treated Cage, a transmitter was put in his heart to make sure he follows suit when he fully recovers. More of this madness will continue to and even come to an end on upcoming "Siege" tie-in story up next.

New Avengers – Search for the Sorcerer Supreme | Comics

Although Doctor Strange is back, a search for his new successor begins with The Hood seeking his powers.

Now that Tony Stark is not Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore, New Avengers are on the run because Norman Osborn is in charge of everything. Aside from running a new task force H.A.M.M.E.R., he has assembled his own version of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" with their twisted and villainous counterparts as Dark Avengers.

Some heroes went underground and many like Clint Barton AKA Ronin became vocal about their opinion on Osborn in public. When his team tries to choose a leader, Barton is elected and he picks Ms. Marvel as his second-in-command. They ask for Spider-Man to share his real identity with them and he reluctantly does so after all.

Turns out, Jessica Jones was a classmate of Peter from high school and had a crush on him, which irks her husband Luke Cage a little. Before they proceed to plan ahead to take Osborn down, Doctor Strange arrives there to seek help. He barely survived an encounter with The Hood, who is currently after his Eye of Agamotto.

It appears that Stephen Strange is no longer a Sorcerer Supreme of Earth dimension as he used dark arts to save his friends earlier. He has been looking for a new contender for his former title ever since and met Young Avengers member Wiccan in New Jersey but their conversation is interrupted midway when he sees Parker Robbins outside.

Strange told Billy Kaplan to run and attempts to face Hood alone but not only did he fail to reason with Robbins, he soon realized that his enemy has grown more powerful than he is now. Instead of running, Wiccan came out helping with his powers, allowing them both to escape from there and he came here to gather strength.

New Avengers insists on helping Strange as they were after Robbins, who has ties to Osborn. Meanwhile, Hood goes to Dormammu seeking help to ease his pain and meets Madame Masque. Not knowing what he's been up to, she suggests that they go look for Doctor Strange to get help and removes her mask before kissing him.

They all head to New Orleans trying to find the new rightful owner for Eye of Agamotto in a Quinjet that Carol "borrrowed" when she left Mighty Avengers. What Strange is mostly concerned about is that even people like Doctor Doom or Hood could be a candidate for being next Sorcerer Supreme and that would be disastrous.

On their way, the Eye suddenly activates by itself and starts display all of its possible holders before getting disappeared, most likely to its new owner. They are hit by a missile by Madame Masque, prompting Spidey and Wolverine to go after her. Logan ran into heavy fire and Spider-Woman engaged her until Captain America took her out.

In his apartment, Daimon Hellstrom was arguing with his ex-wife Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat over phone. The Hood comes at him guns blazing thinking he has what he is looking for but was unable to even land a scratch on him. They both get a glimpse of the Eye before it gets vanished again and Hood is cast outside from his house.

Their fight gets ugly pretty quickly and caught attention of The Avengers, who came in offering aid to Hellstrom. As Cage and Doc Strange try their best to contain the fiery fury of an unhinged Parker Robbins, who has taken a larger demonic form, Jericho Drumm AKA Brother Voodoo shows up wearing the Eye of Agamotto to help.

Continuing his run on eleventh New Avengers storyline "Search for the Sorcerer Supreme", writer Brian Michael Bendis (House of M, Secret War) returns once again to rally up the heroes to face a "Dark Reign" with a revised team lineup and status quo for Marvel Comics in 2009 that would spread across various other mini-series.

Bendis was joined by artists Antonio Fabela, Justin Ponsor, Billy Tan (Thor – Latverian Prometheus, Uncanny X-Men – End of Greys), Chris Bachalo (Dark Reign – The Sinister Spider-Man, X-Men – Age of Apocalypse) and Matt Banning in telling his story within issues #51-54 from fist volume of monthly ongoing comic-book series.

Even though Cage has been acting as a leader for some time, he steps down and Bucky Barnes simply didn't have old-school Avengers experience. In a not so surprising manner, Clint Barton gets elected as current leader of New Avengers.

The Hood, one of Osborn's allies and a herald of Dormammu becomes a major pain for heroes to deal with. Although he went after Strange to steal his Eye of Agamotto by force, Parker eventually ended up being badly burnt in hospital. A new Sorcerer Supreme is chosen and more bad news is heading for them in next story "Powerloss".

New Avengers – Power | Comics

Skrull Invasion is over but how would New Avengers roster will reassemble and survive an impending Dark Reign.

During crisis of "Secret Invasion", all superheroes and villains came together fighting the alien Skrulls but it was Norman Osborn, leader of Thunderbolts who effectively ended the conflict by taking a kill-shot on Queen Veranke. He becomes a beloved media hero and Tony Stark is overthrown from his position as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

President of the United States has tasked Osborn to assemble a new peace-keeping task force and handed Avengers Initiative over. He secretly assembled a number of divisive individuals like Emma Frost, Doctor Doom, Loki, Prince Namor and The Hood for a meeting to form a Cabal that would work to ensure all of its members' interests.

As part of his new schemes, Norman attempts to fully shut down current Thunderbolts program, which caused Swordsman to go into frenzy and he threatened to publicly expose Osborn only to get impaled by his own sword in return.

A new Captain America and Thor joined all assembled heroes when they were trying to defend capital city from Skrulls. Cap instructed New Avengers members to gather at his safe-house at Bronx, where Iron Fist, Mockingbird, Ronin, Spider-Man and Wolverine showed up next day followed by a recently resurfaced original Spider-Woman.

Despite Clint started acting pretty antagonistic towards her, Logan vouched for her since she was replaced by Skrulls and had nothing to do anything with the invasion. Jessica Jones returns with Luke Cage and Ms. Marvel, desperately seeking for Edwin Jarvis imposter, to whom she gave her child before joining her husband at Central Park.

They immediately head out to find the baby and goes directly to Baxter Building, looking for help from Fantastic Four. Though they were in a mess already, Sue Storm rallied up her family up to look for Danielle. After searching into bases of A.I.M., HYDRA and even underground, they found a Skrull into a bar full of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Before they could even properly interrogate, the disguised alien tried to run and is shot into head by a disgruntled S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Seeing no other way to get back his child, Cage asks Osborn to help him find where Skrull-Jarvis is hiding. Seeing him desperate to do anything at this point, Norman gladly agrees to make a deal.

They fly to maximum security prison Raft shortly afterwards to see Skrull prisoners captured for interrogation. Osborn asks one of them whether he knows where Skrull-Jarvis currently is but they choose not to respond. He tells Venom to eat one of them and he happily obliges, to which the surviving one cracks and gives them a location.

Cage walks into their meeting place and Jarvis pretended walks in carrying his daughter Danielle a while later. He tried to bargain release for his comrades but then gives her up anyway and gets shot in the head by Bullseye right away. Cage family is reunited at Avengers Tower and Luke tells Jessica that he gets a pass for life off her wifely stuff.

However, he didn't intend to keep his part of the deal to Osborn and took out both Gargan and Lester with Wrecker's magical crowbar before jumping out of window. Back at their hideout, New Avengers witness Norman Osborn to publicly announce his new "Dark Avengers" team, assembled with their twisted, villainous counterparts.

Secret Invasion | Comics

Skrulls have been planning to invade Earth for long and launches a "Secret Invasion" to replace all heroes with imposters!

For ages, Earth has been a major target of invasion by many alien cultures and races, including Skrulls. However, each time they attempt for assault has been successfully prevented by various superhero groups, most notably Fantastic Four. Nevertheless, they still believed the planet is rightfully theirs because of an ancient prophecy.

After Earth has survived Kree-Skrull War, a group of heroes formed The Illuminati to repel such attack in future and traveled to their homeworld, Tarnax IV to warn them not to make any further moves against Earth but not only their warnings are ignored, they captured and tortured the group before they managed to flee.

Emperor Dorrek VII ordered his men to create a new breed of Super-Skrulls for an invasion. He was warned by Princess Veranke of a prophecy but she and her followers of Dard'van religious cult were all banished to a distant planet. Her words came true in later years as Galactus decimated Skrull homeworld during Annihilation War.

Without a planet of their own and nowhere to go, surviving Skrulls have sought Veranke out and elect her as their new Skrull Empress, who planned an invasion on Earth. They slowly start replacing their agents among super-human community before "House of M" and Veranke posed herself as Spider-Woman to join New Avengers.

After "Death of Captain America" and Civil War coming to an end, they infiltrated every group of 50-State Initiative. With Scarlet Witch thinning out mutant population and Thor being dead, all they had to worry about was Doctor Strange and Sentry. World War Hulk took care of Hulk and Nick Fury went underground following Secret War.

Things became more evident when Elektra is killed by Echo in a battle against New Avengers, she is revealed to be a Skrull and Spider-Woman informed Iron Man about this. Then Illuminati member Black Bolt of Inhumans came out as another Super-Skrull in disguise that fought all of its teammates before being killed by Prince Namor.

Tony Stark brought in Henry Pym and Reed Richards to examine the corpse of Elektra-Skrull to find out how to detect them as they are prone to magic, mutant powers and even technological scans. He then is called by Agent Brand of S.W.O.R.D. to inform about a Skrull ship crash-landing on Savage Land and leaves immediately.

Both teams of Mighty Avengers and New Avengers reached to crash site, where they see their counterparts from 1970 coming out of Skrull ship. At that exact moment, an imposter Dum Dum Dugan blows up S.W.O.R.D. headquarters and Iron Man armor starts malfunctioning due to an alien virus being uploaded to his mainframe.

As Tony collapses down, S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier lost control and Commander Maria Hill ordered everyone out. Another breakout at Raft occurs, freeing villains like Armadillo, Doctor Doom, Mandrill and Shockwave. Baxter Building of Fantastic Four gets sucked into a large portal of Negative Zone by a Skrull agent disguised as Susan Storm.

When Mister Fantastic finally figured out how Skrulls have managed to become undetectable, Hank Pym shot him with a laser weapon. Asking for help from the void of space, Agent Brand sees invasion fleet of Skrulls heading towards Earth.

Ares realizes this to be a trap and advises his fellow heroes to head for mainland but things quickly got heated between them. Two opposing sides assembled in Savage Land engage in a massive brawl that is soon broke up by a rampaging dinosaur. Tony gets busy to rebuild his armor in Mutate Citadel and sends Ms. Marvel away to fight.

A group of Super-Skrulls arrives at Manhattan and only members of Young Avengers were there to face them. Meanwhile, Fury has been assembling a team of new Howling Commandos and joins battle to turn its tide. As things starts getting intense, a certain God of Thunder appears out of nowhere along with a Star-Spangled Avenger.

Secret Invasion (Softcover)

Secret Invasion (Hardcover)

Several years in making, "Secret Invasion" is a major Marvel Comics crossover event that is collected in an eight issue limited series by writer Brian Michael Bendis (Uncanny X-Men – Revolution, Uncanny X-Men – The Omega Mutant) and artist Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers – Revolution, New Avengers – The Trust), published in 2008.

A number of mini-series and monthly ongoing series like Avengers – The Initiative, Black Panther, Captain Britain and MI-13, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, Incredible Hercules, Iron Man, Mighty Avengers, Ms. Marvel, New Avengers, New Warriors, Nova, Punisher War Journal, She-Hulk, Thunderbolts and X-Factor served as tie-in.

An Event of Cosmic Relevance

Bendis actually worked on a lot of those interconnected books and it all finally comes together in the end. Building up a subplot from Kree-Skrull War to an encounter in Tarnax IV and then their destruction before setting sights on Earth again, all of that is explored in "New Avengers – Illuminati" five-part limited series from earlier.

A power dynamic that was shifted during Civil War was heavily manipulated by Skrulls and it took life of some characters. Many who returned among friends and family are having trouble coping with a world that sees them as impostors.

Aside from many fractions of Earth heroes, The Hood lead his criminal gang battling against invading aliens and even Norman Osborn has participated with his Thunderbolts team. When Skrulls were all defeated for good, another great threat slowly starts arising from shadows and a "Dark Reign" is ushered, leading to another event.
