Black Panther – A Nation Under Our Feet | Comics

Things are not like they once were for King T'Challa of Wakanda as his nation has been ravaged by Atlantean Prince Namor during Avengers/X-Men War, there was an invasion of The Black Order which caused a huge loss of life (Infinity) and then Incursion of Worlds happened, which almost saw end of everything (Secret Wars). As his own people cast him out for his failure, his loyal Dora Milaje had left him too. T'Challa's sister Shuri took his place momentarily but after her fight with Cabal, she was stuck in a coma-like stasis.

This state of hers forced T'Challa to become King of Wakanda once again and he returned as Black Panther as well. At the Great Mound, he goes to respond to a situation regarding workers and tries to inspire Vibranium miners working there but he sees hate in their eyes as someone was manipulated them from within. Seeing the person responsible for this chaos, he gives chase but she vanishes after turning the crowd against their King. Seemed overwhelmed at first, T'Challa deals with them and by then her scent gone stale.

On the Golden City of Wakanda, Aneka, former captain of Dora Milaje is given a death sentence by Queen Mother for killing a chieftain for his lechery on helpless females of his village to which her lover Ayo tries to defend her by trying to justify Aneka's actions by explaining that situation. She even showed footage of that event to appeal for sparing her life as she did what was demanded by honor. However, the Queen Mother remains adamant in her decision stating it is her duty to make the tough but right decisions here.

T'Challa returns home and shares concern about his recent encounter with a soul-stalker to Queen Ramonda. When discussed about the incident that took place at Great Mound with council of tribal of elders, T'Challa is informed about his deceiver's identity. It is revealed that she is an enhanced named Zenzi, who was once a captive of Killmonger, who barely escaped by turning her captors against each other. T'Challa senses a deep conspiracy of some superhuman terrorist group trying to cause a violent uprising among his people.

Zenzi is currently working with Tetu; leader of a new Wakandan rebel movement called The People and a shaman with powers to manipulate forces of nature around him. Tracking her down on Nigandan Border Region, Black Panther reaches to confront her after trashing many of Nigandan Army soldiers. While he goes to confront her, T'Challa was overwhelmed by the images of Shuri cast by Zenzi that keep haunting him for failing to save his sister. He was finally able to overcome the effects but the deceiver was gone.

Meanwhile, Aneka is rescued by her lover Ayo in the Midnight Angels suit from her cells and together, they start vigilance on every oppressor who abuses helpless women. They start by rescuing a group of hostage women from a compound in Northern Wakanda by killing all bandits. When Aneka and Ayo was away, White Gorilla Army and ravaged whatever left there. In retaliation, Aneka lured out their leader Lord Mandla AKA Man-Ape to a distant cave where the Midnight Angels were waiting for him and killed him.

Despite all of his best efforts, T'Challa fails to bring back his sister from her "living death" state. Inside her construct of amber, Shuri's soul eventually transcended to a plane called The Djalia, where she was guided by an apparent spirit of Ramonda. Tetu's rebellion of The People plans a suicide bombing with help from Ezekiel Stane, which injured Queen Ramonda. To tackle these overwhelming threats from the inside of his nation and beyond, Black Panther summons help from his friends at The Crew, consisting Luke Cage, Manifold, Misty Knight and Storm.

In past, the sacred land of Wakanda has been attacked by Latverian tyrant Doctor Doom (Doomwar), a Devourer of Totems; Morlun (The Deadliest of The Species) and even The Mad Titan; Thanos but it always stood up at its majestic feet and now Marvel Comics picks National Book Award winning writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and sensational artist Brian Stelfreeze to re-invent Black Panther in all his Wakandan glory for an all-new age of readers. The storyline "A Nation Under Our Feet", contains issues #01-12 from sixth monthly ongoing volume of Black Panther and divided into three separate books.

The King of Wakanda faces trouble not from the outside world but from within his own nation, while he also struggles with her sister being trapped in a state between the living and the dead. For long, he has already been in conflict with his inner self about the actions he took during "Time Runs Out" with his allies in The Illuminati. Needles to say that "A Nation Under Our Feet" story arc is primarily focused with the thought of introducing new readers of the series to prepare themselves for 2018's Black Panther movie from Marvel Cinematic Universe and create an appeal to them for this character.

Justice League – Darkseid War | Comics

For eons, Metron has been an observer of events of the universe, destruction and rebirth of worlds while sitting in his Mobius Chair. Though he is never to interfere, he did it in past to prevent a great destruction to all in existence when Apokolips and New Genesis went on waging war against each other and arranged a pact between Darkseid and Highfather. They are to exchange their sons Orion and Scott Free respectively to each other, which will at least stop Izaya from going in war against Uxas and his planet.

He was a witness of that time when an otherworldly being known as Anti-Monitor caused a Crisis on Infinite Earths, then living fear entity Parallax ushered a Zero Hour in time, Infinite Crisis rattled the Multiverse and Zoom created Flashpoint paradox afterwards. When the dusts are cleared out and a new era begins, Prime Earth was threatened by Apokolips War and with all those crisis events over existence put reality into peril. He seeks and finds out Anti-Monitor on the ruins of Earth 3, preparing to consume another world and the observer tells him to stop, because another crisis can destroy reality as we know it.

By destroying Earth 3, the latter made a rift in Multiverse and exposing it to a Convergence of timelines. Seeing his reluctance in ceasing from his advance towards Earth, Metron reminds the destroyer that his actions may lead to Darkseid's wrath but it seems that the Anti-God actually wants a war with Dark God of Apokolips. As he states, only the demise of Uxas can unlock the key to change him back to who he once were, which the observer cannot provide him and in this war, he has a secret ally against the lord of Apokolips.

Justice League – Darkseid War | Comics

Highfather's own son Scott Free grew up in the fiery pits to become Mister Miracle by surviving the worst and escaping his captivity. Darkseid has never been thwarted back before from any of the worlds he invaded until he stepped on Earth and fought the Justice League. Sensing he has gotten some new source of power and preparing to attack once again, Scott decides to confront him. They confronted each other in throne room but he was forced to evade via Boom-Tube and ended up finding the mother of Uxas' daughter.

Meanwhile, assassin Kanto and Lashina goes to Earth looking for a woman named Myrina Black and their opening of a Boom-Tube alerted Cyborg, who brought Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Power Ring, Shazam and Wonder Woman to the scene to find a woman lying dead in her apartment as Steve Trevor arranged to clear out the area for investigation. Victor dotted the lines to figure out that these assailants are after some Myrina Black and Hal points out that whoever they are, they can cloak from his power ring.

Using Barry Allen as a dimensional portal, a gray-skinned woman suddenly arrives and headed towards the Caped Crusader as he is the most dangerous among his peers. Incapacitating him first, she then takes down Cyborg and Shazam before being stopped by Diana. She reveals herself to be of Amazon blood and holds herself pretty well against Wonder Woman. Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz quickly came to join the fight but she corrupts Hal's ring before using Jessica's one to bring the destroyer on Earth.

Superman was with Lex Luthor at LexCorp and as they are informed about the attack on their teammates, Lena Luthor shot her brother and left them both stranded on Apokolips using a Mother Box. Rest of the Justice League made a failed attempt to stop the woman named Grail and Anti-Monitor. Steppenwolf pledges to his master to allow him face the Kryptonian but he is ordered to ready their army to transport to Earth instead. What would happen when Anti-God and Dark God finally goes toe to toe against each other?

Exploring the aftermath of Injustice League and Forever Heroes storylines, while crossover events like Convergence and Forever Evil paves a new way for upcoming arcs, "Darkseid War" is a groundbreaking step stone for many of the future tales and a new status-quo of The New 52. Originally, the core plot of Darkseid War took place on issue #40-52 from the second monthly ongoing Justice League series from DC Comics and couple of other tie-in issues was added afterwards. Reference from "Justice League – Origin" was made and the story itself would influence "The Final Days of Superman" and beyond.

Twilight of the Gods!

Though writer Geoff Johns (Blackest Night, Brightest Day) and artist Jason Fabok (Detective Comics – Emperor Penguin, Detective Comics – The Wrath) was primarily responsible for creating this event from DC Comics, artists Kevin Maguire, Phil Jimenez, Dan Jurgens (Metamorpho – Year One, Superman/Doomsday – Hunter/Prey), Jerry Ordway, Scott Kolins (Legion of Superheroes, Superman/Batman) and veteran fan-favorite Jim Lee (Divine Right, Superman Unchained) also took part as guest-pencillers. By far, this one is one of the most expanded story arcs from post-Flashpoint era other than any major crossover events considering the number of issues involved.

Power Man and Iron Fist – The Boys are Back in Town | Comics

When ex-convict Luke Cage showed up in Harlem City with his newfound enhanced abilities and met the other worldly Kung-Fu defender from K'un-Lun named Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist, they eventually banded the Heroes for Hire, Inc. Then they disbanded under some certain circumstances and after five years, they showed up at the East River dock to pick up their former associate Jennie Royce, who was framed for murdering Eugene Mason and is just released from Ryker's Island.

Taking her to the Excelsior Diner they offer Jennie to do anything for her that will help her get back on her feet, because they consider her as family. Besides, she already lost five years in prison for a false accusation and suffered without a valid reason. Since her ex-boyfriend owed a lot of money to many people and a necklace of her grandmother is now in someone else’s possession, which she would like to have back. The only problem is, it is currently owned by a notorious organized crime-boss named Lonnie Lincoln, or better known as the villainous Tombstone.

Luke Cage never liked it from the beginning and now seeing where it is going, he feels more uncomfortable as he shares history with Tombstone. However, they wanted to help Jennie for old times’ sake and Danny already promised her to get the necklace back. So, they go meet the villain in Harlem to talk about it. But Tombstone straight out refused of giving it back and their conversation eventually gone unpleasant when he assumes that they are accusing him of theft, whereas he won it from The Hood in a card game.

Before Luke and Iron Fist realize, they are surrounded by Tombstone's goons yet they took the necklace and fought their way out but couldn't hear the villain warning them about the necklace having magical powers. Upon handing it over to Jennie Royce at the Sisters of Mercy House, Luke and Danny leaves after hugging her one last time. Though Luke Cage feels quite uneasy with the fact that Jennie and Tombstone both have a different story about the necklace, Iron Fist points out that Lonnie Lincoln is probably lying here instead of their friend.

Back home, Jessica Jones asks Luke if he and Danny are going to be back again in action but Luke assures her that it was a one-time thing to help out a friend. Tombstone was going nuts over the necklace as it was a Supersoul Stone and tasks his group of henchmen to get the stone back for him. Jennie talks to her partner about their plan becoming a success who is revealed to be former criminal gang leader Mariah Dillard. Together as White Jennie and Black Mariah, they are gonna take over Harlem, when Tombstone loses his empire for failing to secure that artifact.

Power Man and Iron Fist – The Boys are Back in Town

Following the debut of the live-action Luke Cage TV Series as well as Iron Fist on Netflix in 2016, Marvel Comics have reunited one of the best buddy-team of comic books together again in their third ongoing volume of publication. To accomplish that, writer David Walker (Luke Cage – Caged!, Luke Cage – Sins of the Father) and artist Sanford Greene (Deadpool Team-Up – Good Buddies, Power Man and Iron Fist – Street Magic) were pulled on the driving wheels of this series to attract a lot of new readers to the awesomeness of these Heroes for Hire turned into The Avengers.

Back In The Hero Business

Collecting the first five issues from the monthly ongoing, this story however doesn’t content any lives at stake type of situation in it but was a fresh point to start reading about the duo who rocked the streets of Harlem, New York. Plus, a cameo from Doctor Strange in this little “Fiddle-Faddle” is something that you cannot simply miss. This long awaited return of the duos in action can also mean the reformation of The Defenders anytime soon in their fifth monthly series, with possibly Daredevil and Jessica Jones joining the gang.
