DC Universe – Rebirth | Comics

In an attempt to save his mother from dying at the hands of his arch-enemy Zoom, Barry Allen went back in time to save her but the “Butterfly Effect” of his actions created the disastrous world of Flashpoint and the reality itself is re-written in a new world with ten years of history erased from it by a very powerful unknown individual who got Wally West trapped inside Speed Force. Someone is tampering with time and reality itself and no one really knows who or why.

So, Wally desperately races to warn everyone that the new timeline is a result of the manipulation of some extra-dimensional mysterious being. He goes to Batman to tell him to look for his father’s letter and then just vanishes in lightning. He meets Johnny Thunder at his elderly home and tells him to find the Justice Society and is soon pulled back in again. Pandora was running away from an unseen entity in alleyway and she dies stating that the truth about her monstrous assailant will be revealed.

Black Canary and Green Arrow don’t know each other very well like they used to in another reality but still feels a missing spark between themselves. Elsewhere, Aquaman proposes to Mera on his knees according to the surface tradition to re-state his love for her. Meanwhile, the world was mourning the Tragedy of Superman and another Clark Kent from Pre-Flashpoint reality lives here with his wife Lois Lane and son Jon Kent in Hamilton County as The Smiths.

Wally then approaches to his love of life Linda Park for help but as she was unable to recognize him either, he is pulled again. He even seeks his arch-nemesis Captain Boomerang, friend Cyborg and Dick Grayson of the Titans for help but finally, it was Barry Allen who actually remembered who Wally was and then pulled him back. This brought back many memories and this two speedsters share a tearful reunion.

Atom reaches out his assistant Ryan Choi to inform that he is in a big trouble investigating a temporal anomaly. Doctor Fate pays a visit to Blue Beetle's alter ego Ted Kord that his Scarab is not a piece of alien technology but actually magic. As Batman was investigating inside the Batcave, he found evidence that suggests that the heroes of this world are being watched over.

As the 2016’s biggest crossover event “DC Rebirth” begins with a shocking prelude of “The Final Days of Superman”, DC Comics brings together creator Geoff Johns (Flash – Rebirth, Forever Evil), Ivan Reis (Blackest Night, Infinite Crisis), Gary Frank (Batman – Earth One, Superman – Secret Origin), Ethan Van Sciver (Green Lantern – Rebirth, Sinestro Corps War) and Phil Jimenez to re-create history once again. This event features the long-awaited “Return of Wally West” as well as a hint at the comeback of the fan-favorite; Watchmen, who’d probably tie into the main reality of DC Universe and something that we’ve never seen before would happen.

Storylines like I Am Gotham, Son of Superman and Lightning Strikes Twice from the Rebirth wave explores new ideas and changes to lead a path towards the future.

With his tip to Apokolips during “Darkseid War”, a spin in A.R.G.U.S.’s Kryptonite vault and the most recent encounter with Rao, Superman was having a pretty rough time. To make it all worse, he found out through tests that he is dying and there is nothing that can be done. In China, Doctor Omen is after information on Superman which is related to her secret research. Clark still does whatever he can to help humanity and then visits Lana Lang in Smallville to give her the news, only to break her in tears. Then he meets Lois Lane and approached her to write down the life history of his when he is gone. He goes to Gotham to seek Batman for his aid in locating Supergirl. They found her in a lab in National City and Clark gives the bad news to her in the Fortress of Solitude.

Clark handles the responsibly of his legacy and then Wonder Woman reaches there to confront him about the news and then share a moment together. Meanwhile, ex-con Denny Swan was trying to get away from a cop and then hit by a mysterious light that turns him into a being of solar power and he declares himself to be Superman. He causes trouble in Daily Planet before taken to A.R.G.U.S. but got free out of there too, setting Ulysses free to give Superman a beat-down. Diana and Clark are accompanied by Bruce to China, where Doctor Omen is busted and released the Energy Superman, who takes Lois out of her apartment only to face the three Super Friends for a final confrontation. While, they all were fighting the imposter, Clark gets help from an unexpected source.

Supermen of Two Earths

Tying in with the issue from the monthly ongoing series Action Comics, Batman/Superman, Superman and Superman/Wonder Woman, The Final Days of Superman marks the end of Prime Earth’s Man of Steel run and also dawns a brand-new era that is build on the aftermath of “Before Truth” and “Savage Dawn”. Writer Peter J. Tomasi (Black Adam – The Dark Age, Brightest Day) took the grand responsibility of narrating this event and he was assisted by an array of artists including Dale Eaglesham (Green Lantern, Justice Society of America), Doug Mahnke (Final Crisis, Justice League Elite), Ed Benes (Birds of Prey, Justice League of America), Jorge Jiménez (Earth 2 – Society – Planetfall, Superboy – New 52), Mikel Janín (Justice League Dark, Grayson), Paul Pelletier (Aquaman – New 52, The Flash) and Scot Eaton (Swamp Thing, Black Panther). A few variant covers for the issues involved to the main plot were also delivered by the legendary John Romita, Jr. (Avengers Vs. X-Men, World War Hulk) as well. The Man of Steel from New Earth timeline, who was living in the Prime Earth following the events of Convergence, has finally made his presence known in a surprising way. This story also serves as a prelude to the upcoming “DC Rebirth” event to usher a new future.

Doctor Strange – The Last Days of Magic | Comics

A dimension which’s inhabitants used to worship the ancient being known as Shuma-Gorath as a deity, sent it's worshiping Blood Monks after a child who was promised to him. These people were accused of heresy for practicing science and not devoting themselves to magic. The boys' parents gave up their life to ensure that the boy's escapes along with a group of his created Eyebots. The boy grew up hating magic for the loss of his parents for it in the first place and its wielders became his prime target for elimination because of his childhood tragedy.

He now is The Imperator who leads Eyebots in his employ to hunt down and erase any trace of magic from existence by eliminating its users. As the Impirikul has finally reached Earth in search for Sorcerer Supreme of this dimension, they are hit with Atlantian Black Magic and stunned for a while. Other reputed sorcerers of Earth like Doctor Voodoo, Professor Xu, Mahatma Doom, Hellstrom, Scarlet Witch, Count Kaoz, Magik, Shaman and Talisman are also fighting the Impirikul around the globe with everything they have at their disposal.

Doctor Strange – The Last Days of Magic | Comics

Doctor Strange notes that The Mighty Thor is weeping above the clouds for no reason he can remember of and a Ghost Rider is probably screaming somewhere as the world of magic gone cuckoo. The Impirikul attempts to enter the Sanctum but they all got caught up by the mystical defenses of the house itself. Strange was barely able to even hold him off against the powerful Imperator on the very doorstep of Sanctum Sanctorum taking non-stop blows from the attacker until he finally faded.

Then when they were all lined up for execution in front of Sanctum, his old pal Monako shows up to free them all and teleport them away before meeting his impending fate. Strange and his allies goes for a quest to find every last piece of magic around the world for a last stand against the Impirikul. While making a run for salvaging whatever scrap of magic scattered around the globe, Strange is hounded by the Witchfinder Wolves of Impirikul. His companion for the road Médico Místico, Scarlet Witch and Talisman extracted from the situation before taking care of the Wolves.

In the mean time, Wong makes a quick rescue of Zelma from the Sanctum and the Eyebots have unknowingly unleashed a monster hidden in the cellar constructed from pain and sufferings of Stephen Strange that have the power to unleash doom on the Impirikul. Doctor Strange and his friends eventually showed up to change the tide of the battle with all the mystical relics they've gathered but even if Strange ever manages to somehow beat them, can he restore the balance of magic in the world that has been lost?

The supernatural lore of Marvel Comics got a new villain and he is currently after every other magic-wielder; especially Doctor Strange. So, comic-book writer Jason Aaron (Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine, Original Sin) and artist extraordinaire Chris Bachalo (Generation X, Steampunk) is having quite an impressive run on the Doctor Strange’s ongoing series which started with ‘The Way of the Weird’ and now has reached to "The Last Days of Magic". Illustrator Leonardo Romero also served as penciller for the tie-in issue, also written by Aaron. Gerry Duggan and Scott Koblish collaborated on the tie-in that features a certain Merc with a Mouth; Deadpool for some reason we are not sure about yet.

Last Protectors of Magic

As per with the recent release of the 2016’s live-action Doctor Strange film, Marvel took this initiative to re-define the mystic elements of its large fictional universe. Considering that, they are getting pretty good results as in a new chapter started with its very own background and can leave out trails to create more expanding arcs or crossover from it. Plus, the continuation of other Marvel characters related to magic from The Avengers or X-Men appearing and teaming up with the Sorcerer Supreme himself to save the world against a menacing brand-new antagonist was an extra delight for the fans.

All-New Wolverine – Civil War II | Comics

Formerly known as X-23, Laura Kinney has taken the mantle of Logan after the Death of Wolverine. While having a thought of him in her dreams, she woke up to the sound at the door and found out Squirrel Girl at her doorstep with a real a wolverine named Jonathan. Laura shows no interest but Gabby loved it. Next up, Maria Hill, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. called her about a situation.

Upon meeting, Hill showed Laura a box containing a faint scent that they retrieved but lost several agents in the process. So, she need her help to find those agents and someone who went missing looking for them; Old Man Logan. As they opens up the box over New York bay, Laura remembers that the scent is to attract Fin Fang Foom and he responds by attacking the Helicarrier.

Leaving Gabby under Maria Hill's care, Wolverine jumps right into the mouth of the beast, while Captain Marvel and Iron Man arrives to help. Laura finds Logan half-burnt away and carried him outside. Gabby flew with whatever left of Logan to their apartment as Carol and Laura drove Fin Fang Foom far away. After waking up, Logan had a chat with his inter-dimensional dystopian future granddaughter Gabby.

Then Gabby, Laura and Logan bonds together, talks about his horrific past reality and took out two burglars who broke in. Meanwhile, the Inhuman precog Ulysses Cain sees a vision of Logan killing Gabby, leading Maria Hill to send Captain America heading to apprehend Logan with a bunch of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and soon, things get real nasty for both parties.

All-New Wolverine – Civil War II

Since the heroes of the world is divided again, Laura Kinney; the current Wolverine decides to keep her away from this and raise her clone by herself. She was doing okay until S.H.I.E.L.D. got involved and blew everything out of the proportion. All-New Wolverine monthly ongoing series is back with its second story arc, which serves as a tie-in to the Civil War II crossover event from Marvel Comics in 2016 and collects issues #07-12 of the series.

The Shocking Prediction

The storyline was conceived by writer Tom Taylor (Injustice – Gods Among Us – Year One, Injustice – Gods Among Us – Year Two), drawn by artists Ig Guara and Marcio Takara, while covers were done by Bengal (All-New Wolverine – The Four Sisters, Avengers World – Before Time Runs Out). Wolverine's journey is followed up next in "Enemy of the State II" storyline.

After taking down The Joker and saving Gotham from the clown's madness, both Batman and his enemy seemed to perish. To fill out the void of a hero to protect the city, Jim Gordon took the alias of Batman by donning a new mechanical Batsuit, sanctioned by GCPD. With constant persuasion from Geri Powers of Powers International and inspiration from his partner Detective Harvey Bullock, Gordon finally agrees to become the hero that Gotham needs.

In Little Cuba, Commissioner Maggie Sawyer and officer Edmonds were trying to engage a creature made of bioelectric energy when the Batplane showed up and the new Batman jumps into the rescue. Gordon took it down by tracking the man Precious Precious of the Whisper Gang with help from Julia Pennyworth.

A man walking by the side of a park discovers Bruce Wayne sitting alone in a bench, who is mostly amnesiac now and doesn't remember his past. Julia checks onto Jim to see his progress and then, he is called in for another situation. A former street-level crime boss Gee Gee Heung has suddenly creating a lot of trouble with his new-found superpower. Many of Gordon's recent arrestees of such incidents start dying and apparently, some magic seeds are responsible.

Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne was helping at his girlfriend Julie Madison's rec center, where Jim Gordon surprise visits him regarding the seeds but Bruce declines to help. A new villain named Mr. Bloom is giving away seeds to criminals with his own hidden agenda to spread out his weeds to create a garden.

In the aftermath of the events of "Batman – Endgame", both Batman and The Joker were presumed dead and to replace The Dark Knight with a new one, writer Scott Snyder (American Vampire, Superman Unchained) and artist Greg Capullo (Haunt, Spawn) has came up with the idea of making Jim Gordon the all-new Batman in "Superheavy" storyline in 2016, from DC Comics.

Dead Flower Dolls

The storyline collects issues #41-45 from the second monthly ongoing Batman series and features cameo appearance from Superman in his civilian form as well as one of Gotham's organized crime-boss Penguin. The storyline of The New 52 ends in a cliffhanger and is later concluded to the following one titled "Bloom".
