Thor Vs. Thanos | Comics

Following a battle alongside Odin and his Avenger teammate Scarlet Witch against Loki, Mephisto and The Enchanters, Thor returns to Asgard and discover that someone has brutally defeated the elite forces of Asgard and among them he find out his former lover Sif. Heimdall was found unconscious on Bifrost and Odin Allfather is encountered by a mysterious person.

Thor Vs. Thanos | Comics

He forced Odin to give an ancient artifact called "The Map of all Ending", that can lead the universe to destruction. This mysterious person is revealed to be The Mad Titan; Thanos. He is out to collect other mystic artifacts hidden across the galaxy, which will lead him to the fabled Designate, Terene. Who's tears have the power to unleash death across universe upon drinking it from Chalice of Ruins.

Thor is suddenly attacked by Mangog, the creature with immense power of billion-billion beings who were once slaughtered by Odin. Thor and Mangog battles fiercely and exchange heavy blows but Thor is eventually defeated shortly when the beast gets the upper hand in fight. Mangog and the evil Tarakis is teamed up with Thanos in his dark scheme.

Balder The Brave seeks the aid of master blacksmith Jagrfelm in Svartalfheim, on behalf of Odin. Now Thor aided by The Rigellian Recorder and Firelord; former herald of Galactus, must make a final stand against Thanos to stop him at any cost to save the entire universe from its impending destruction and rescue Terene from his clutches.

Thor by Dan Jurgens & John Romita Jr. Vol 04

"Thor Vs. Thanos" is the fourth and final storyline by legendary team-up of writer Dan Jurgens (Superman/Doomsday – Hunter/Prey, The Death of Superman) and one of Marvel's finest penciller John Romita Jr. (Uncanny X-Men, World War Hulk). This five part tale consists of issue #18-25 from the second ongoing volume of Thor monthly series.

Though, the story only took a couple of issue to be told but the significance and the magnitude of the events that took place in it is far greater that. It’s a cosmic level action packed madness, a must read for any fans and the second great appearance of Thanos after the events if “Infinity Gauntlet” of Marvel Comics.

Thor – In Search of the Gods | Comics

Following Onslaught's reign of chaos and destruction over the world, Thor and many other heroes had vanished after they decided to sacrifice themselves to defeat the monster and lived in "Heroes Reborn" reality for more than a year. After Thor returns to Asgard from his long absence from a hostage situation where an impostor Heimdall has taken a few children captive in Ballon Bunch Daycare Center.

He then finds out that the golden city of Asgard he once knew is now gone. The invincible Destroyer is sent to Earth for an unknown purpose, which battled Thor and The Avengers member Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch. After it has possessed Colonel Case, intoxicated him with its vast power. But The Avengers were quite unsuccessful in stopping him and after a massive fight, Thor seemingly dies at his hands.

Thor was then sent to Hel to Volla and Hela, who are approached by the enigmatic Marnot, who offered him to return his life if he simply agrees to share his body with Jake Olsen, an EMT paramedic who died during their battle with The Destroyer while trying to save the life of a civilian.

Thor agrees to this and starts living as a mortal to honor Jake's noble heroism, learning the ways of Earth as a mere mortal. The revived Thor has returned to Earth and single handedly outmatched the brute force of The Destroyer this time, sending him to a barren and distant planet. Though he could transform into God of Thunder at will, he starts having difficulties maintaining his newly developed dual identities.

Avengers/X-Men – Bloodties | Comics

Magneto is out of the commission since Professor Charles Xavier has thwarted his evil plan by mind wiping him on Avalon (in Fatal Attractions). And now, one of his former aide Fabian Cortez has now branded himself as "Head of the State" of the island nation Genosha while he terrorizes people over there like a mad tyrant.

He also takes The Acolytes as his own team and abducts Magneto's granddaughter Luna, the human child of Quicksilver and The Inhuman, Crystal with hopes that someone from the family will eventually appear to save her. Getting concerned by Cortez's action on Genosha, Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. approaches The Avengers to look into the matter immediately.

Meanwhile, Professor X and his team of X-Men fly to Genosha on their own to confront Fabian Cortez about this matter, who is seen holding Luna in his lap. He wishes to end Luna's life as a punishment to Quicksilver for not following his father's footsteps and as to Luna, who is born a mere human without any kind of mutant power, disgracing Magneto's mutant bloodline.

Luna's mother Crystal also reaches to Genosha to retrieve her daughter as an Avenger. Her husband Pietro Maximoff, A.K.A. Quicksilver also lands on Genosha with the X-Men at his side. Former X-Man, Colossus is now confused with his siding with The Acolytes to see the violent ways of the maniacal Fabian Cortez in the absence of Magneto. To make this moment even worse than it is now, Magneto's self-proclaimed heir Exodus arrives with a murderous intention.

The Incredible Hulk was once tricked by the Asgardian god of mischief; Loki to attack the god of thunder, Thor. When Thor and Hulk engaged in battle, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Wasp joined them to finally defeat Loki. They banded together as a team to fight super-villains or major disasters, calling themselves The Avengers.

When resurfaced, super-soldier Captain America also joined the team and is offered leadership of the team, which he accepts. He soon enlists the marksman Hawkeye, the mutant sorceress Scarlet Witch and the speedster Quicksilver in their roster. In their upcoming years of action, the X-Men member Beast also served as a team member for a certain time.

Together they fought Captain America's oldest enemy Red Skull, Baron Zemo and Crossbones, Fantastic Four's arch-nemesis Doctor Doom, Iron Man's business rival turning Wonder Man, the master of time and space; Kang the Conqueror, X-Men's arch-nemesis Magneto and many other powerful foes.

The team has expanded greatly over the years, where some become the constant member of the team and others remaining as supporting members. Heroes like Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and the Kree superhero Captain Marvel also briefly served in the ranks of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The android Vision, who was programmed by Ultron to destroy them also joined their cause once realizing their intention of greater good. The Avengers have also went up against The Mad Titan; Thanos on several occasions.
