The Walking Dead – The Best Defense | Comics

While clearing up the prison yard of A-block, a secret armory is discovered by Glenn and Maggie where they found shotguns and police riot gears that they can use for protection against the Walkers during the regular clean-up. They decide to use those gears to siphon fuels of the remaining cars of the yards to run Dale's RV and the in-house power generator. After her recent suicidal activity, Carol and Lori talks and she is worried for her daughter Sophia.

Wearing the newfound riot suit, Rick and Glenn goes to siphon gas from the parked cars near the prison and then they notice a helicopter that flies by. Then it suddenly crashes nearby and along with Michonne, they rush to the spot on a car that Glenn managed to run somehow. Afer the car stuck in the mud, they continued on foot but except for the wrecking copter, they found no one on the crash site but only a few tracks of footprint there.

In prison, Carol asks Lori if she and Rick would consider polygamous marriage with her as she thinks can work out well. Lori is stunned at her proposal and denies her, which slightly offends her. Axel and Tyreese guards outside the prison compound while waiting for Rick and gang to return anytime. Carl is excited to have a cell of his own when his father returns and asks his mother why she is always upset when Rick leaves.

In hopes to find survivors of the chopper out there, Rick, Glenn and Michonne starts following the tracks and reaches to a mile marker for a community town called Woodbury. When they reaches there, their weapons are taken by the guards and a guy named Caesar Martinez welcomes them to the place. The town is completely free of Walkers and Rick's gang soon met the man who leads the town, only goes by the name of The Governor.

The man enjoys survivors fighting each other in an arena surrounded by Walkers just for fun yet; everyone in the town of Woodbury seems to be unknown of the true nature of their lunatic leader. The Governor welcomed them in peace at first but later he starts violently interrogating them about their location, which results in chopping off Rick's right arm for his unwillingness to cooperate. He also admits that he fed the helicopter survivors to the zombies when they came here.

Michonne is brutally raped and tortured for days by the madman continuously, while a locked up Glenn is forced to hear it. A wounded Rick is sent to the care of Dr. Stevens who enlighten Rick of Governor’s past, about how he rose to the power and what he may come up with next. The Governor wants to know of the location of Rick’s prison camp as he wants all the resources they have right now for the town of Woodbury, even if it means to invade and slaughter every last one of them.

The Walking Dead – The Best Defense

Collecting issue #25-30 from the monthly ongoing comic-book series The Walking Dead, "The Best Defense" is fifth storyline run of the title. Published by Image Comics in 2006, the storyline is developed by writer Robert Kirkman (Outcast, The Astounding Wolf-Man) and artist Charlie Adlard (Judge Dredd, The X-Files). The story starts from the ending point of the previous arc "The Heart's Desire" and is later continued in "This Sorrowful Life" story arc. This is the first ever storyline of this post-apocalyptic Zombie saga where any death of the living or undead is not shown.

Though many elements from this story is adapted into the Season 3 of The Walking Dead TV Show on AMC, many other aspects of the original content had to left out because of the level of extremely graphic moments that has taken place. For instance, Rick's hand getting chopped off is completely avoided showing and then the part where Michonne gets raped is also omitted from the show just because it would be too much to digest for cable TV audience. The live-action portrayal and appearance of the character The Governor by actor David Morrissey was also way different than it is in the book.

"Infinite Crisis" is a major crossover comic-book event from DC Comics that took place in 2005 and is a follow up to 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths. This event was plotted by writer Geoff Johns (Blackest Night, Brightest Day) along with some of industry's talented artists like Phil Jimenez, George Pérez (Final Crisis – Legion of 3 Worlds, Infinity Gauntlet) and Ivan Reis (Green Lantern, Sinestro Corps War). The core plot was formed with a seven issue limited series following "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" limited series. Artist extraordinaire Jim Lee (All-Star Batman and Robin, Superman Unchained) draws the seven alternate covers of the limited series for this comic event. Infinite Crisis brought major historical change to DC's timeline and later it led to the "Final Crisis" event which was the main reason for all the Crisis themed events.

New Avengers – Secrets & Lies | Comics

Captain America recruits an ally into New Avengers team to find a connection between Hydra and Silver Samurai.

On the night of a prison break at Raft, Matt Murdock was on board with a group of fellow superheroes to contain a massive breakout. All of them have been banded together by Captain America into a team except Murdock, who refuses to join his New Avengers because of his secret identity of being Daredevil was made public lately.

Now that forty two super-powered criminals are free again, Cap is busy making rounds to catch them up one by one. He came to Murdock to talk about Keniuchio Harada AKA Silver Samurai, who was a prisoner that escaped Raft that night. Harada was likely to be assisted by The Hand but he believes it was most probably Clan Yashida.

Aside from Daredevil, only Wolverine knows about Japanese underworld and he is currently not available, therefore they need him right now. Matt explains that federal government is on his tail and he can come under fire for even knowing him but Cap then pointed out about the time when he became "Nomad" and represented no one else.

Matt then suggests him of someone that has every training and knowledge he has about Clan Yashida and The Hand. Steve Rogers meets this person to debrief their mission to locate Harada, learn his plans and their rule of no killing. Next day, a black suit wearing ninja goes beating up Clan Yashida thugs in Japan for information.

The mysterious ninja then finds a way to a secret fortress of Clan Yashida to see Harada being approached by Hand shortly before he is greeted by Viper AKA Madame Hydra but had to run abruptly when some Hand ninjas sneaked up. Making a break for it, the ninja made it to Stark Enterprises building, unaware of being followed by Hand.

Aside from Cap, no one among New Avengers team has known this guy and before they could catch a break, they came under attack from a swarm of Hand ninjas. Captain America, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman get engaged with this group momentarily who came following their contact in Japan that Murdock sent.

Keniuchio is brought to Japan to take lead of The Hand in rise of a twisted Hydra and corrupted S.H.I.E.L.D. They are interrupted by a ninja who came to warn about an intruder that they engaged and followed thinking they have ties to American heroes but are ordered to retreat and soon, they all withdraw from fighting the Avengers.

Spidey notices that Jessica is missing and she actually flew to Fortress Yashida only to come across Viper. They have an argument over a deal made earlier to give her powers and then she tells Spider-Woman to hit her with a Venom Blast since her friends are right behind her in a Quinjet and she obliges this time without a hesitation.

Cap orders Silver Samurai and his associates to stand down but Harada asks if he is aware that his government abducted him to put in Raft without trials. They decide to sort things out by Keniuchio unleashing his sword on his associate group of Hand ninjas and Iron Man using a massive concussion blast to knock off all of them.

New Avengers team eventually leaves with Viper with them since she is a wanted terrorist and Jessica Drew attempts to release Madame Hydra mid-flight but accidentally Cap fell out as well and she immediately jumped to catch him. Their mysterious ninja friend reveals who is behind that mask and Cap confronts Jessica about her motives.
