Justice League – The Grid | Comics

Someone hacked Justice League secret files while trying to frame Superman for murder and secret behind Pandora's Box is coming out.

An idea to recruit secondary members to their rank is proposed by Batman to his colleagues in Justice League. Since all of its founding members have their own priorities, they are looking for heroes who can dedicate their full-time to the team. Wonder Woman assumes that he has already discussed about it with Cyborg and they agree.

He showed them that he has created a database called "The Grid" to better respond to worldwide emergencies and super-human assistance. So, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Blue Devil, Element Woman, Firestorm, Goldrush, Nightwing, Platinum, Vixen and Zatanna were all called in to Justice League Watchtower for an initiation.

They all came and were getting to know each other until suddenly, Platinum go haywire and starts attacking everyone. With the combined effort of Rhonda Pineda AKA The Atom, Element Woman and Firestorm, she is finally neutralized. Cyborg reveals when they were busy fighting her, someone stole their secret files from Watchtower.

Back in Batcave, Alfred Pennyworth and Red Hood were mourning over the recent death of Damian Wayne. Suddenly, Jason is knocked out with a high-voltage shock and Alfred is thrown away by a stranger in a black bodysuit. Despite Alfred's warning, he enters deep inside the cave to open a secret vault and a box marked "S".

In Kahndaq, Superman and Wonder Woman go undercover to secure hostages held captive by a terrorist group named Sons of Adam. They saved the day but it was broadcasted worldwide, which prompts Batman to pay them an immediate visit to remind how the world sees them as a "Power Couple" and their public action matters a lot.

After revealing to them that he already knows for some time that they are dating, Batman suggests them to keep it under cover as the fact of two of Earth's most powerful being in a relationship might scare a lot of people. Then he breaks off the news of Batcave infiltration lately to steal a means to take down Man of Steel.

This gets Diana furious over Bruce but Clark talked her down saying he gave it to him for worst case scenario. In Watchtower, Despero came looking for Justice League but trashed down Atom, Element Woman and Firestorm. Was it not for the timely intervention of Martian Manhunter, these new recruits couldn't have survived.

Right after Cyborg detects that JL Watchtower is falling from the orbit and headed towards East Coast but Superman managed to catch it right before impact. J'onn J'onzz tells Atom not to tell anyone that he was here, leaving a knocked out Despero behind and a Kryptonite ring he was wearing all along starts giving Big Blue a hard time.

Madame Xanadu sees visions of a dystopian future in aftermath of a great war that is only defined by the word Trinity and deems it urgent to warn Justice League about it. Mysterious entity Pandora approaches Man of Steel to open Pandora's Box thinking he was the purest of hearts but it tries to corrupt him and she escapes.

He and his friends then rushes to Kahndaq to stop Shazam from trespassing there to spread ashes of Black Adam but it quickly sparked a fight between them that eventually escalates to a point where things get too ugly. Three Justice League teams go to war over confusion and misdirection created by a traitor from within.

Clash of Leagues

At the very beginning, many superheroes are assembled to be added into prestigious roster of Justice League but only three of them; The Atom, Element Woman and Firestorm made it. All core-members of the League were given enough space to develop their own tale and the chemistry between the Trinity is explored even further.

Yet, both Aquaman and The Flash had a very little to do over the course of the story but a large ensemble of many major characters were drew in finale. "The Grid" is a set-up for major upcoming crossover event "Trinity War" and its tie-in "Forever Heroes", where three Justice League teams will be on major conflict against each other.

AXIS | Comics

Following Avengers/X-Men War, Captain America decided to form a team of The Avengers with human and mutant superheroes from X-Men. They were almost immediately troubled by Nazi super-villain Red Skull has stepped into war-torn island nation of Genosha to claim the powerful mind of Professor Charles Xavier from his corpse and to create an army to rule world in his vision. With his new-found psychic powers, Skull decides to re-ignite the age-old war between humans and mutants to eradicate the latter race from Earth forever but Avengers Unity Division came in his way.

Red Skull then escaped to Genosha, turning it into a secret mutant concentration camp where his army of S-Men tortures and ran experiments on mutants. Upon hearing about Skull’s activities, mutant terrorist Magneto arrives at Genoshan island nation to confront him only to be captured and tortured by Red Skull. Help came in form of Havok, Rogue and Scarlet Witch, who broke in to help him back to his feet again. In a blind fury, Magneto slays the entire fleet of S-Men assembled there as well as Skull himself with his enhanced power boosts from Mutant Growth Hormone.

Everyone present there thought his menace was end for good, only for the villain to re-appear as the terrifying Red Onslaught. As Red Onslaught, Red Skull spreads his message of hatred worldwide to wage a new "World War Hate". Overwhelmed by Onslaught's power, Wanda Maximoff briefly gave in to him and Magneto were tossed around to one of the camps where he finds Cyclops, Genesis and Kid Omega all captured. Genesis got stabbed by Ahab while Cyclops and Havok were fighting but then Colossus, Nightcrawler and Storm brings the cavalry of other heroes in.

In Los Angeles, The Avengers came across Plantman and are exposed to some sort of rage pheromone emitted by him. This caused Sam Wilson to insult Thor to get hit by Jarnbjorn, then Vision crashing Odinson through Quinjet and Doc Green getting angry. Sunfire suddenly attacks Wasp for no reason at all and then Iron Man finally put a stop to this madness by taking down Plantman. With other fractured teams of The Avengers, Inhumans and X-Men, Iron Man arrives to face Red Skull in his newest form but then the latter unleashes two Adamantium Stark Sentinels on them.

Skull had Tony secretly build those killing machines during Civil War under his evil influence to fight all heroes against his reign. When seriously outmatched by Stark Sentinels, Rogue suggested Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch to cast a spell that would invert Skull's moral axis and let Charles Xavier take over to stop Onslaught but didn't work at first for Nova's lack of experience. They reassembled once again only to fall, when Magneto arrives with an army of super-villains to buy Strange and Wanda time to complete their inversion spell but Stephen is taken out and Doctor Doom stepped in to help complete the spell.

Now their moral axis reversed, major super-villains like Absorbing Man, Carnage, Deadpool, Enchantress, HobgoblinJack O'LanternLoki, Mystique and Sabretooth turned into heroes and Doom was gone. Skull's body was left behind and a stir caused among the heroes regarding whether to wake him up to free Xavier or let The Avengers take custody of him. Meanwhile, X-Men members of Jean Grey School For Higher Learning have gathered from Genosha by Evan Sabah Nur turned a new Apocalypse to rule entire mankind by releasing a gene bomb to wipe out existence of all humans from New York City.

"AXIS" or better known as "Avengers & X-Men – AXIS" is a 2014 superhero crossover event from Marvel Comics that ran into a limited series of nine issues. Marvel hired renowned writer Rick Remender (Crawl Space – XXXombies, Fear Agent) to put him solely in charge on core series along with artists Adam Kubert (Amazing Spider-Man – Renew Your Vows, Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine), Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers, Secret Invasion), Terry Dodson (Generation X, Uncanny X-Men) and Jim Cheung (Avengers – The Children's Crusade, Avengers Vs. X-Men) to back him up with illustrations. With almost every other superhero on Earth assembling to stop Red Skull, "AXIS" becomes one of the biggest crossovers of recent years.

Death of Wolverine | Comics

The man known as Wolverine isn't quite living up to the reputation he has made over years because he now lacks his incredible healing factor and can die. Logan goes to see Mr. Fantastic to know in details about his current condition. As Reed Richards laid it out for him, he cannot heal from any injuries he takes in this state, probably his bones are radioactive now and he should not use his claws anymore. Upon discussing with Hank McCoy and Tony Stark, he can find a solution but he needs some time to figure it out while Wolverine have to stay out of action for a while.

Logan knows that is not possible because, somehow news are going to spread about his vulnerability and he has a huge list of enemies who would come after him. He enters Eric's pub for a drink and left a map for anyone who comes looking for him. Former super-soldier turned mercenary Nuke showed up looking for him and thus he brought them all over to Logan's very own territory of British Columbia, Canada. Before they can even confront, Wolverine took out all his men for him to show up alone in the shore to see countless dead bodies of A.I.M. agents, unknown Ninja assassins and rogue mercenaries lying there.

Initially taking a few beating, Logan got the drop on him and then tortured to submission by repeatedly bashing Nuke's face with his Adamantium skull. He reveals that the bounty is only good if Logan is alive and the person who put a contract on him is none other than Viper. As he spared life of Frank Simpson, Wolverine goes to Madripoor to see her and even manages a meeting. There he found out that Sabretooth has become a pet dog to her and is weakened because of her poisoning.

Viper informs Logan that she did not put out a contract for him. In fact, she sub-contracted it for someone else to do it for her. She offers to tell him who the real contractor is if he can beat Sabretooth in fight but since he is not in his prime, Logan lost an eye and is viciously wounded. It was the timely intervention of Lady Deathstrike that saved him but he requests her to spare Victor Creed as he is drugged. Viper flew and Deathstrike tell him that all individuals with Adamantium implants are being attacked by Lord Ogun.

When talking, Yuriko notices that Logan isn't healing, so she decides to exchange his life for hers but as she was about to proceed, Kitty Pryde arrives to save the day. Kitty phased through her body, warning her about hurting Logan. After sending Yuriko away, she saves her fainted friend with Regen Serum. Since they both have past histories with Ogun, they travelled to Japan to find him. Ogun's spirit possessed Kitty Pryde by then but he ultimately retreats from two of them, leaving the name "Abraham Cornelius" within her mind.

One of most influential mutant hero of Marvel Comics sees the end in "Death of Wolverine" crossover by writer Charles Soule (Civil War II, Death of X) and artist Steve McNiven (Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Avengers, Wolverine – Old Man Logan). The primary storyline revolved around the four-issue Death of Wolverine limited series that was released on 2015. Right after Logan's demise, the story actually starts to unfold as many friends came forward to mourn his loss. As one of Marvel's most popular character who gained fame being a member of X-Men and then went on to become a member of every other teams like Alpha Flight, S.H.I.E.L.D., The Avengers, Weapon X and X-Force.

A heartbroken Storm took the leadership of X-Men while his adopted daughter/clone Laura Kinney AKA X-23 forms a team called "Wolverines" with Daken, Lady Deathstrike, Mystique and Sabretooth to honor his memory. Despite a very bold move like killing one of their prominent characters, Marvel sure would find a replacement for him or make someone else take his mantle as he is gone now. Although not exactly in a same manner, "Death of Wolverine" was a source of inspiration for 2017's superhero film Logan with actor Hugh Jackman starring in titular role and have a different ending from the story.

The Walking Dead – Whispers Into Screams | Comics

The new era of peace that Rick and his fellow survivors established in a post-"All Out War" period is now threatened with a new type of enemy.

Previously, a survivor named Magna and her group has been rescued from a massive horde by Paul Monroe and brought to Alexandria Safe-Zone. After their initial interview session with Rick Grimes, they decided to stay but her friends remain skeptical that the town is surely hiding something and sneaked into the basement to find an imprisoned Negan.

Though he claimed to have been tortured and wanted their help to get out of his cell, Magna brushes off his claims immediately saying he is lying and then they leave. The group then confronts Andrea about the events before their arrival and she fills them in on her relationship and stand with the community until All Out War era.

Carl has moved to Hilltop to become a blacksmith under the tutelage of Earl Sutton and despite being unwilling at first, Rick eventually agrees to his wishes. There, he reunites with Sophia and was slowly trying to settle down away from home until they got in trouble with two boys. Carl has almost beaten them to death for attacking his friend viciously.

Earlier, Ken and Marco went to an uncharted territory way past Hilltop Colony chasing a pack of wild horses but they faced a horde and were forced to flee. The latter made it back to Hilltop but Maggie Greene is skeptical about his story of whispering Walkers. Nevertheless, she sends a small search party of Dante and two other men to go find Ken.

The Walking Dead – Whispers Into Screams | Comics

As they arrive near a countryside barn, a herd arrives out of nowhere and they fight back. When only few of them remained, one of them attacked with a knife, which scared Doug and two of them died except Dante. He discovered his slain victim is a human female under Walker skin and another disguised survivor holding a shotgun to his head.

Jesus goes to investigate a patrolman gone missing and a herd of whispering Walkers quietly followed his group. When they are about to go back, the living zombies ambushed on them that led to the death of all but Darius and Paul. Jesus managed to kill all of the Whisperers before taking one of them prisoner and his wounded friend back at Hilltop.

Jesus starts interrogating the Whisperer who is a 16-year-old girl named Lydia and learns more about her group who wear skins to roam among the Walkers. Though Sophia is treated, Maggie had to lock Carl up due to the serious outrage from fellow citizens. These two talk to each other about what is going on from their cells and slowly bond.

The bullies' parents furiously argue over the fact that their kids almost died yet Carl is running around free. Gregory suggests that they kill Maggie Greene and has him reinstated as their leader once again but no one really wants to follow this extreme idea.

The father of one of the bullies later approaches him about his plan but he wants Carl dead as well. When things get really heated up in the infirmary between the angry parents and Maggie, Gregory steps in to offer peace but tries to intoxicate her with a drink later in his trailer. Only for the timely intervention of Jesus, she was saved.

A small group of Whisperers showed up at Hilltop to get back one of their own in exchange for Ken and Dante and their leader introduces herself as Alpha. Although Carl is totally against the idea of giving Lydia back to her people for their savage way of life, Maggie deems it would not be a wise idea to get in conflict with these people.

The Walking Dead – Whispers Into Screams

The post-apocalyptic journey of The Walking Dead monthly ongoing series from Image Comics picks a new pace from the previous storyline "A New Beginning" and now heading towards another major arc with "Whispers Into Screams" by writer/creator Robert Kirkman (Image United, Invincible) and artist Charlie Adlard (Judge Dredd, The X-Files).

The story starts building a major challenge for Rick and his allied communities to live up to following their hard earned victory against the Saviors and their lunatic leader Negan. However, these are a new breed of enemies that literally run along with the undead march and have a philosophy towards life that is devoid of any emotion or attachment.

Death Comes Whispering

Similar event of introducing these new enemies from the story is also adapted into the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead TV series Season 9, except for a change of character cast and a major shocking consequence for one of the good guys.

Although there hasn't been any major tension building up throughout the entirety of the book except for a few casualties, the upcoming "Life And Death" promises some groundwork for the gathering storm headed towards the survivor communities. Rick Grimes with his fellow group members will rise up to fight their biggest battle against Whisperers.
